This is an awesome place! If you have not visited the vineyard and farm, you must do so during the 12th Muscadine Festival during Labor Day weekend of 2015.

This place rocks. Tucked away in a little shopping center on the 41 - 17 corner, it's not easy to find but worth it. Chef Toan (pronounced Twan) always has a smile on his face and couldn't be nicer. He'll sit with you if he's not too busy and talk food. The salads are awesome and the Pho is great on a cold day.
For those looking for the only authentic Mexican food East of the Cooper look no further than Carmen y Juan. Carmen does the cooking and Juan does the rest. This neat couple treat you like you are in their kitchen at home. Carmen usually has something special going in the kitchen if you ask. My personal fav are the chicken enchiladas with the salsa verde. Fresh, light, and delicious. If you think Mexican is heavy and covered in cheese do your self a favor and give these guys a try. You'll be back I promise.
As soon as you pull into the parking lot, the smell of delicious fills your nostrils. Head inside and grab a beer, and order up that three-meat plate. Pulled pork, brisket, and pork belly, with beans and mac n' cheese is how I do it. You won't wait too long before you are scarfing down juicy, smoked-out meat treats. I always have some leftovers for later. Don't forget to grab some nanner puddin' before you head out. The only downside of this place is that it's not attached to my house.
Lana is my favorite. I could eat there every night. Food is always good, nice choice of Mediterranean dishes on the menu, none too weird, great service. The place is not too big or too small. Try to get a booth.
I went here on Saturday night with a date and absolutely loved it. I ordered the vegetarian plate, and it was AMAZING. Mrs. Hall knew my date, and she introduced herself to me and was incredibly warm and friendly. The bartender, Hugh, was attentive and funny, and the rest of the staff were kind as well. Not sure what all these negative reviews are about--I will DEFINITELY be going back here.
RLS is my favorite gallery to be at in Charleston, hands down phenomenal! Once you walk though the doors you're welcomed to make yourself at home. The owners Robert and Megan are more than friendly and approachable. Often you can even catch Robert in the moment of painting in his studio! The walls burst with imagination. All the the artists there blow me away. All are welcomed.
RLS is truly a wonderful place to hangout and enjoy some great fine art. Every aspect of the gallery is beautiful - especially the spirits of founders Robert & Megan. Whether you are a high end collector looking for the next masterpiece, or just looking to take a break and enjoy your latte, definitely stop in to look around. There is no prejudice or judgment here - simply love and kindness, so make sure a visit here is on your to-do list next time you are in the area.
We have lived on DI for a few years now, and we love Dragon Palace! The service is very quick for a dine-in restaurant and the food is great and much more authentic than your average take-out! If you like real Chinese food rather than the typical American-Chinese food, you will love it.
Finally heeded the good press here and elsewhere and went to Kanpai last night... How foolish I feel for ignoring this place for so long. Chef Park's humble (in location/appearance) restaurant belies the quality of sushi and other Japanese fare therein. We had steamed buns, both duck confit and beef, to start, and I could have eaten more of these for a meal. The duck confit was truly outstanding. Next we had some nigiri (salmon roe) and then a bigger roll, the Wagyu Roll. The nigiri was fresh and light as it should be, but holy cow, that Wagyu Roll. Tempura shrimp and avocado with seared Wagyu beef on top? Um, yes, please. It actually tastes better than it sounds. We also had the "popcorn" shrimp, which were tasty and spicy in their own right, but also came with a pleasant dressing/sauce with apples and avocado and fresh greens. I don't think there's any question this is the best sushi/Japanese food East of the Cooper, and probably in all of Charleston. Can't wait to go back.

Save the trek to Market St. and pick up a sweet grass basket from Gigi,next to Gruber Farm stand. Small selection but great prices.
So very glad I got to eat the fried chicken and check out this creative and tasty new spot before work pulled me out of Charleston for a few months. It was one of the last things I did before leaving downtown and I can't wait to get back. Best of luck to Brooks and Tim!
