Re: “Threshold Repertory Theatre

Threshold isn't just a "location" for other companies to use, it's a theatre company that produces quality productions and doesn't charge an arm and a leg to go see them. In fact, I saw that their latest production, The Exact Center of the Universe, a beautifully written dramady (drama and comedy), is only $10. Plus they always have a freebie preview show. The theatre building itself is small but well appointed with comfortable chairs, and all the bells and whistles which go along with great productions. At Threshold you don't get bare minimum sets and all white lighting. They truly try to give you scenic and lighting production elements along with terrific acting and quality plays. If you haven't visited Threshold Repertory Theatre, you are missing out! There's a couple of great places to eat close by too and a chocolate shop. What more could you want?!

Re: “Lucinda Eden

My wedding dress {June 23, 2012} was custom made by Lucinda Eden and it was out of this world. I live in NY, but got married in Charleston. I found Lucinda Eden in her 2011 Southern Living spread and visited her shop while on vacation in Charleston. As soon as I saw Lucinda's designs, I knew I wanted her to make my wedding dress. I couldn't have been happier with the final product -- and her service was wonderful, too. I tried on the dress in her shop to think about it, called in my measurements when I made the decision, and picked up the dress while visiting Charleston again. The entire process was 2-2.5 months - would have been less time if I lived locally.

Lucinda helped make my dream wedding come true! I highly recommend!!

Re: “Al di La

Wow. Al di la is hands down the best Italian food in Charleston. Great food, atmosphere, and staff. Highly recommend the pork and lamb dishes while you are there paired with something from their wine menu. SO GOOD. This restaurant will definitely be a repeat visit on my next trip to Charleston.

Re: “Charleston Bakery

This place is excellent. The best Corned Beef and Pastrami in SC. The soup is delicious and the Danish - the best I have had outside NYC. All made in House. Making the trip here weekly, its worth the drive.

Re: “King of Pops

Truly an icon, we love this guy! He completes our Saturday morning farmers market jaunts with his cart o' deliciousness. Summertime floods in with bold and juicy favorites that are full of flavor. Strawberry Basil, Thai Tea, Honeysuckle Lime, Hibiscus Pom, Fruity Pebbles, Salted Caramel the list goes on and on with flavors constantly changing with what is fresh and ripe at that time. True, its frozen but you can be sure it was only frozen a week ago at most. I don't know how he keeps up with the demand. Inventive and constantly throwing me a curve ball with new flavors, I have a hard time staying steady with my all-time favorites and am known to cheat on them with the flirty new flavor of the day. The King is keeping it local by using local products and we love that. At Pet Fest, he even made dog cups too. (Our dog Mojo loved his!) Make room in your day to find his cart (I believe he tweets locations)...it'll be a sweet 10 minutes of me time (and perhaps your dog too if you share.)

Re: “La Pizzeria

I agree wholeheartedly with this place being the best NY pizza in Lowcountry. We were so thrilled with our pizza when we ate in that we swore it would not be our last time. We drove there after a friend recommended it. The crust was bubbly at the top, very crispy on the outside but tender inside. It was a definite folder, which verified its authenticity in our opinion. If you don't need 2 hands to hold a slice, its not a NY style pizza. The sauce was on mark and full of bold flavor with the right amount of cheese. We were raving and swooning until we saw the check. We think the price per piece is a bit steep but that being said, when you are the best in town, maybe you can charge this much. We loved it and would come back more often if the price per piece were lower. Still, we definitely missed it and come back once every couple months just to get our fix. Good job and well done! We leave so full that we never have room for dessert!

Re: “House of Brews

I was shocked to find out how cool HoB was, especially since it was right down in Mt Pleasant. This place is a craft beer lovers heaven, wrapped up in a locals bar. First of all, if you are looking for a normal drinking establishment, you are in the wrong place. This is a house, converted into a bottle shop and bar. They have a nice list of rotating taps, along with two bedrooms full of bottles. Feel free to pick out any bottle you want, and they can have it chilled and served in a few minutes. Prices are fair, especially for Mt P. What really makes this place special is the atmosphere. The owner is the bartender, and you will not find a nicer guy. He cares about his customers and wants to personally meet every one of them (first name bases kind of thing). The house-like atmosphere really pushes you to meet and converse with strangers, as you sip on fine ales. The back and side yards are set up with fire barrels and seating, as well as a stage for live acts. With many positives, we must also discuss the negatives. My only main issue is the hours, which isn't the owner's fault. They close at 10pm, mainly due to the fact that they are in a residential area. I hear that one of the neighbors doesn't like them (for no good reason), and complains quite often. The early closing time can be a letdown if you are a late dinner kind of person looking for an after dinner beer. Despite the early closing, it is still an awesome place to hang out and enjoy some brews with friends.

Re: “Coleman Public House

CPH is my go to Mt P dinner spot on most weekends. The food is consistently good and the tap beer selection tends to be the best in town (in most cases). I have probably tried every burger on the menu, and they are all delicious. I usually order my burgers rare, and am never disappointed. This quality of beef was not meant to be ordered well done. So damn juicy! The lamb sliders are fantastic, but I found out they can also make you a Big Lamb (full sized lamb burger) which takes it to another level. The truffle fries are evil, with that perfect touch of salty truffle oil flavor and a light sprinkle of Parmesan. Lately, I have been ordering the Fish and Chips, as they seem to know how to do that dish better than most places around CHS. My only complaint is that the beer prices can occasionally be on the high side, but it doesn't deter me from ordering a few brews before and during dinner. If you love burgers and craft beer, CPH should be your new home.

Great place to live! Close to the city, close to Folley Beach and so many things to do without even leaving Riverland. The tropical pool is going to be heated soon for year round enjoyment.

Re: “Wando Shrimp Company

Consistently fresh seafood and cheap prices bring us back to Wando frequently. We have purchased shrimp, oysters, flounder, sea bass, and sheepshead from them, and always enjoyed the meal. The staff is always kind and cheerful. I am glad we have a hidden spot like this in Mt P.

Re: “The Shelter Kitchen + Bar

I am a big fan of the shelter. What they did architecturally to maximize and create a terraced open space from an existing structure is super. They have had time to refine their menu as well and some of their items really stand out, like their shrimp dip, which is an especially well crafted version of an already excellent local recipe. I think the place is an innovative treat.
