Damn tasty food. Try Bon Banh Mi only if you want some food that excites your taste buds. Every sandwich and taco is packed with tantalizing flavor. Service is quick for takeout, and they do deliver downtown. Parking sucks on Spring street.
This place is excellent. The best Corned Beef and Pastrami in SC. The soup is delicious and the Danish - the best I have had outside NYC. All made in House. Making the trip here weekly, its worth the drive.
I ordered the beach bum and the jazzy pizza and split them with a friend. They are both incredible! It is so much food. We had 1/2 the pizza for breakfast the next day. Normally I'm suspicious of any establishment that labels one their products "goddess" but you cannot hold that against the sauce. The sauce deserves a grand title because it compliments everything. It is October and the tomatoes were more delicious than I remember them being in the summer!??!! They use sriracha perfectly, discerningly. The greens are perfect, never bitter. I like the Black Bean Co. but put head-to-head with Dellz Deli- DELLZ. every. time.
Sure you might have to wait... but in this case it's worth it. Great price to size ratio goin' on and they are always beyond nice. The puzzle games always make me feel like my sandwhich comes with a side of "I'm stupid" but that's a me problem not a Dellz problem! If you don't want to hang out there just call ahead! It will be ready.
Got a bag of sandwiches to go and they were amazingly good. Great spot, cool people.
Congratulations Jason & Jeremy! ! I agree best bahn mi in town! Thanks Aaron Richard for the great compliments on the bread! To find out more about your new village baker, check out this facebook link! https://www.facebook.com/ilpanedivita
The folks from Street Hero have finally opened up a brick and mortar location just off King Street and we are so glad they did. If you have had the pleasure of enjoying one of their Banh Mi's at the Charleston Farmer's Market, you now have the good fortune to enjoy these any day of the week (except Monday). The store is clean and bright and the staff was on top of it when we joined them for dinner. Everyone was engaging and passionate about what they were doing and it came through in the finished product. There is beer and wine available as well if you want to stay a while.
This little sandwich bar makes it simple to enjoy the Vietnamese specialty of Banh Mi. Their menu is straight forward - choose a vehicle for delivery of amazing flavor and then choose what it will be filled/topped with. They offer salads, but we opted to sample a variety of their tacos and traditional sandwiches. The tacos are double wrapped corn tortillas griddled to a nice exterior texture. They were good, but we both felt that the corn flavor from the tortillas was a bit too prominent in the dish, robbing a little from the otherwise delicious filling. But the bread....oh man the bread. According to the owner, their rolls are baked by someone local who shall remain nameless. I would compare the rolls to the texture of a Cuban bread, thin crusty exterior and a pillowy-soft interior. I noticed when Jason was assembling our sandwiches he even pulled out the center of the roll, an often overlooked step that is so important. Both incarnations came with the same array of fresh condiments, including pickled carrots and radishes, lots of fresh cilantro and basil, spicy mayo, and a crunchy topping of fried onions.
We tried their 'fillins' of country pate and ham, five spice pork, red curry beef shortrib, and ginger lemongrass chicken. The flavors of each were unique and bold, and it's nice that they offer such a range because each of these really provides a totally different experience texturally. The beef shortrib was so rich and tender, I wanted a bowl of it. The pork was very nicely spiced, but it is a ground meat so we didn't love this one as much due to the lack of structure in the sandwich. The chicken was juicy and had a great flavor, bright with lemon and ginger, but lacked the richness we love so much in a Banh Mi. Which leads us to the winner - the pate and Vietnamese ham combo was our favorite as a cohesive sandwich. This was truly a perfect Banh Mi in the classic way. If you have never had one before, I would start here to get the baseline of what this sandwich is supposed to be. All of the other variations are done very well and it is well worth your time to sample the whole gamut.
With quality ingredients and fresh-baked bread, you won't find a better sandwich in Charleston. The sides and iced Chai tea are delicious, too. We'll be back --- soon!
This is my new favorite place in town. The papaya thai salad special was the best thing I can remember having in a long time!
Easily one of the best spots in Charleston.
A welcomed addition to Charleston! Well done!
Limited menu, changes often, they've added more seating....
definitely a different experience -- but everything I've had has been amazing, eaten there probably 8 times now, even the popcorn was outrageous...a little pricier than you'd expect (7-10$$ for a sandwich) but some truly top notch food, it seems like it's a vehicle for the food staff to be as creative as they want and make something truly delicious everyday
Well, I really like eating here. I have eaten lunch there 6-7 times and it certainly isn't a sketchy neighborhood in the middle of the day. There are 2 long family style tables inside and also a large table outside. Carafes of cold water are provided on the table. Soft drinks and iced tea and coffee also available.
Plenty of free parking. I find it a very eclectic menu and crowd - in a good way.
Check Facebook for the daily menu. Here is today's Sunday Brunch listing:
"Oh Boy! Do we have Brunch. Cuban Sandwiches, Sabichs, Gyros, Fish & Grits, Fried Green Tomato Benedicts, Polenta & Eggs, and Spicy Potato Hash. Today's off-the-menu option: Pink Snapper Tunisian Sandwiches."
The bbq sandwich is my favorite. It is slivered butternut squash in bbq sauce topped with cole slaw and served on a grilled homemade bun . I have not done it justice in its description. It is delicious and with a side of veggies or hummus there is enough left over for another meal. The triggerfish sandwich has also been a good choice for lunch.
BBQ Chicken Sandwich and Watermelon juice was an excellent lunch on the beach!
This is by far one of the best places to get sub in Charleston. This place is faaaaar from sucking! Big portions that satisfy and have you going back for more.
Been here a few times since noticing it. It's great.... My favorite stop for falafel
This place is awesome. Went there today with my boyfriend to grab some take-out to take to the beach. We tried the pork belly sandwich with a fried egg, shredded cabbage, and tomato, and the Korean bbq sandwich with kimchi and these slightly pickled thinly sliced cucumbers. Both were absolutely amazing! The owners are really friendly, and the place has an awesome vibe and a nice patio outside. They've only been open since March and I'm sure will blow up soon. I will definitely be back to try their pizzas.
Re: “Philly's Cheesesteaks”
We love this place! The Cheesesteaks are fantastic.
