Re: “Smokey's Place Sports Bar and Grill

These people have no idea what they're talking about! Smokey's is one of the best bars I've seen in town by far! Very nice, clean place, excellent food (highly exceed expectations of your typical bar menu), and outstanding service! The bartenders are not just hot, but they're super friendly and are always on top of things! This place is not what it used to be- major improvement! Live bands and the Blues Bash are rockin', great food, cold beer, good prices, friendly atmosphere, excellent service, and all around good times...... what more could you ask for?! This place definately deserves a second look.

Re: “Charleston Beer Works

Went to CBW to watch NCAA tourney... had a burger and FF. It was awesome, hand ground burgers and hand-cut french fries. Huge selection of beers and a bunch of Holy City drafts. I am honestly impressed. One of the patrons told me that the cheese steaks were extremely good. I know what I will be having next time... Keep up the good work

Re: “39 Rue De Jean

Only went in for the mussels, but they were out of this world good.
Bacon and Blue cheese with lots of bread to sop up the love.

Re: “Bighorn's Sports Grill

This is an awesome place to see bands - big stage, awesome sound and you can eat great food - wings, killer burgers, steaks - all night long. If you don't need to be by the beach, its a much better venue than the Windjammer plus its in the heart of Berkeley County! Going to see Diamondback this weekend!

Re: “The Cocktail Club

We had an amazing experience at the Cocktail Club! We are new to Charleston and the bar was recommended to us by the concierge at The Charleston Place. They took great care of my family and were very gracious in remaking a cocktail that my mother found too strong (she is hard to please!) We will be back often. The Double Standard is fantastic..cant wait to try more!

Re: “EVO

Not that Urbanspoon is the end all be all but after reading Rosemary's review and positive comments about Baroni's I figured I would look them up. I am always up for a good pizza. Well, 74% approve for a restaurant with a solid third of the reviews negative is not very enticing. I looked at Evo's and 92% positive with nearly four times as many votes and out of the 37 reviews only four were negative, and two of those were about price. If you understand what Evo is doing and how much effort goes into their food you will understand why they have to charge the prices that they do. If not, I would suggest Cici's, that just means that when I have to go on the customary wait at EVO it will at least be for people who understand what they are eating and drinking and not be looking for the nearest buffet trough.

Re: “Juanita Greenberg's

So glad we finally have a Juanita's in Mt. P. Have always loved the downtown restaurant. Went for Happy Hour and Dinner last week and it was awesome! Great food, so inexpensive and a super cool atmosphere.

Re: “Halls Chophouse

All these other fools do not know what quality food and service is about. They should stick to food joints like Hyman's and they can get an affordable plate of tasteless food and service with no personability.

Re: “House of Brews

Quite possibly one of the coolest places I have ever been. with over 400 beers to choose from there is easily something for everyone. Either grab a beer from the cooler or toss one from off the shelf into the chiller and enjoy on premise or put a 6 pack together or grab a growler for the road. Live music on weekends, corn hole, and an all together great atmosphere. Rob, the owner, is one of the nicest people i have ever met. If you haven't been to house of brews be sure to make the trip soon.

Re: “Priya Lounge

Love the atmosphere and ambiance - sophisticated and elitist while still offering a totally chill environment. Music is awesome and love to sit back and enjoy a hookah on occasion. Easily my favorite hang out in all of Charleston. Torch knows how to do things right!

Re: “Brixx

On Tap: Southerntier 2xIPA, Grand Teton Sweetgrass APA, Grand Teton Bitch Creek ESB, Abita Purple Haze, Blue Moon Belgian White, Harpoon Winter Warmer, Spaten Optimator, Widmer Hefe, Amstel Light, Highland Oatmeal Porter, Steven's Point Root Beer, Terrapin Rye Pale Ale, Yuengling, Stella Artois, Newcastle, Coast HopArt IPA, Magic Hat #9, Sierra Celebration, Sam Adams Winter, New Belgium Fat Tire, 1554, Harpoon Vermont Spruce Tip, Guinness, Bitburger Pilsener, Great Divide Titan IPA, Highland Cold Mountain.

Bottles: Bell's Christmas Ale, New Holland Mad Hatter, Bear Republic Black Bear Stout, Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye, Alewerks Washington Porter, Sam Smith Nut Brown, New Planet Gluten Free (Tread Lightly Ale, 3R Raspberry Ale), New Belgium Belgo, Kaliber NA, Corona, and most major domestics.

Wine: House Merlot, Cab Sauv, and Chardonnay by Lamplighter Vineyards, Clos du Bois Chard, Liberty School Chard, Pacific Rim Riesling, Chateau Ste. Michelle Sauv Blanc, Beringer White Zin, Stella Pinot Grigio, Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio, Oyster Bay Merlot, Sterling Cab Sauv, Castle Rock Pinot Noir, Trapiche Pinot Noir, Hardy's Shiraz, Ruffino Classico Chianti, Bodega Elena Malbec, Zen of Zin.

Beer list is always changing based on seasonal offerings and taps are NEVER empty. Wine list is well rounded and affordably priced. Not a fine dining list, but certainly not "plonk".

As a personal note, Mellow Mushroom rocks! I love their food. However, comparing a Brixx pizza to a Mellow Mushroom pizza is ridiculous. May as well compare Thai food to Japanese. They're both delicious! But not remotely comparable.

We in "food and bev" appreciate feedback, even negative in nature. We aren't perfect, and we know it. Keep the comments coming!

Cheers!
