This place is great. Service can be slow on a Saturday or Sunday morning when the staff may have been out a little late the night before, but the food is outstanding!
I heard a rumor that a 2nd Downtown location was in the works. Any truth to this??
Great sandwiches, soups and salads!!!! Affordable wines and beers. I'm new to the neighborhood and i am going to frequent this place alot! Go chicken salad, go!
For a measly $12, Friday night dinner at Ted's is probably the best dinner you'll have on the peninsula in that price range.
I so enjoyed the Wine and Cheese Tasting at Avondale Wine and Cheese Shop. So unique. What a treat. They knew how to mix the cheese and wine.
Hope to go back next visit.
Ted's rules. I've been going here for years and even when I was a student, and they knew it, they still treated me like a real person. They always make an effort to have affordable bottles of wine featured at their tastings. Their food is fresh and well prepared and Ted is cool. A friend and I were out at Poe's in the middle of the day once and so was he. He recognized us from coming into the shop and, even though he was sitting at the 'outside' bar and we were inside, he bought us some drinks (delicious Delirium Tremens, actually).
Ted's is know for incredible sandwiches and prepared foods, but don't forget about their butcher counter offerings! There's nowhere else downtown - and very few places in Charleston - where you can get the quality beef, all-natural chicken, pork and more that Ted's offers. Plus they make their own pancetta, roast beef and sausage and smoke their own salmon & ribs on the Big Green Egg that sits out in front of the shop. A great locally owned establishment for foodies!
I love Bull Street Gourmet. It is a great corner store where you can pick up a coffee or delicious, moderately priced lunch. The wine selection is very nice and Justin, the owner, is very knowledgeable. If I lived closer it would be my daily hangout.
Unique deli with quality produce and fresh ingredients everyday. Also carry hard to find groceries.
Re: “Ted's Butcherblock”
Ted's is off the meat rack. Excellent offerings from the butcher counter along with wines and cheeses. A sandwich never disappoints but am looking forward to a dinner there soon.
