When I went I loved what I had! I didn't like the chairs but hey the food is great! I love the potato salad and their Italian Wrap. The pizza I tasted was also wonderful. I would recommend it and will be going back.
Great spot. The atmosphere warm and casual, but still very elegant. The entrees were delicious (even if a tad more expensive than they should have been). I had the filet and it was cooked to perfection (a tad on the rare side of medium rare for me). Apps were killer.
Leave Mt Pleasant's overdone/overpriced area, escape downtown's college/hoity-toity air, and you arrive in The Mill in Park Circle. Where the same beer you get at Poe's for $6.00 is $3.50, with laid back bartenders, and where real people, not name-droppers out on the playboy/playgirl prowl, just go out for a good time.
We left the high priced confines of Mt P one night and headed to Park Circle for a much needed change of scenery.
First stop: some grub at Sesame. What a great place! Friendly staff, unpretentious decor, great beer selection, and best of all....awesome food at uninflated prices. I had the "Down South" burger, and it was fantastic! One word of caution: here, you can order your burgers any cooking temp. you want. I ordered mine medium-rare, and had to scoop out the very very center, as I think I did hear a faint 'moo' from it. This didnt deter me from gobbling up the rest, and wont stop me from returning....next time I'll just say "Medium"!
Highly recommend visiting this little 'burger joint' that is truly a gem!
I have to agree with charleston42 about the whole seat yourself thing. It's a bit silly given that Poe's is packed literally every hour of their operating time. I have to disagree about the quality of the food. I have been there 3 or 4 times and have found the food to always be excellent and the service attentive as well.
Great burger/great value/great beach ambiance. AND, they have a wide selection of beer including Land Shark!
My husband and I ate there a few weeks back when we were vacationing. The service was excellent. We had the shrimp burger and the fried shrimp basket. The food was excellent. The sweet potato fries were to die for. The owners were very nice and made sure we were happy with our food. I would highly recommend Buddy Roe's
Great food and even better service! Sorry y'all had bad experiences but we enjoyed our time there!
EVO is not a "pizza joint." They make delicious food with smoky, delicate crusts and fragrant, fresh ingredients. They have top-notch craft beers and live jazz. The do NOT make a big, greasy pie, as one would find at a traditional pizza joint. Do not go in expecting that. Try La Pizzeria in Mount Pleasant or Park Pizza down the street from EVO. They're both yummy.
I love pizza in all its forms, and I know that there are widely differing variations on the theme. Sicilian, Neapolitan, NY-style, Chicago deep-dish, gourmet... all are wonderful in their own way. The poster that insisted that EVO is terrible because s/he didn't expect what they were serving should have figured it out by looking at what the other diners were eating. I've never been betrayed by my eyes or nose in EVO.
Great clientele, customer service and food. Definately a place to go for a night out!
I was in town visiting family and we stopped by Finz on a Saturday night. We ordered 3 of the tapas plates and two of the fried seafood baskets and everything was delicious! We had the buffalo shrimp with blue cheese (the shrimp were large and fresh), the salmon and potato cakes, and the crab cakes. We had oyster and shrimp baksets, all fried, and they were awesome! The shrimp were fat and fresh with a light breading, and the oysters were so plump and clean, also with a very tasty light breading. I will definitely go back next time I'm in town. The prices were excellent too!
I've been there twice: one lunch and one dinner. The service has been uniformly attentive without smothering, the atmosphere and decor are great, the location is very central.
For lunch I had the bento box special and loved it. A little bit of everything in a most charming box. Sushi was succulent and firm, their dressings, sauces and marinades all were surprisingly fresh and fragrant.
For dinner, I had the Charleston Roll and the General Chang's chicken, as well as sharing an order of potstickers. I was very pleased with all aspects. The Chicken was very citrusy but not spicy (I should have asked for heat) and I could not leave any on the plate to go. My companions had the tofu curry, the pork tenderloin and all items were consumed with gusto leaving little but empty plates.
Pricey? Yes, but definitely a quality experience in a unique restaurant.
I have eaten here 3 or 4 times since opening, and its been great each time. I live on folly, but wear a tie to work downtown, so I think this place would appeal to everyone. Im glad it opened, because of the pork appetizer alone. Its fantastic! Also not to be missed is the fried turkey, it's excellent! Keep it up CSK, I enjoy good food and service no matter if its lunch, dinner, weekday, or weekend. Reasonably priced great food is a home run in my book.
wonderfully simple, fast especially for a folly beach eatery. only suggestion is that some of the vegetable sides could be made without the pork and be equally or more delicious and have a wider following
Fig is fantastic! Their cheese plates are always eclectic and excellent and I have yet to be pointed in the wrong direction concerning wine selection. My favorite thing to do is order a few different apps. and nibble on them with my boyfriend while relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere.
Re: “EVO”
Fresh, local ingredients really do make the food taste better. Great for lunch and happy hour!
