Re: “Cinebarre

When Regal and TB first changed our favorite movie house in Mt. Pleasant into the Cinebarre, I was completely dismayed because it was like they had turned a family-friendly movie theater into a hangout for young tattooed vampire types to drink and hook up.

I hated it and called Regal to ask them what they were thinking when they did this. They said it was something of an experiment but to give it a chance.

And then over a short period of time Cinebarre made some very positive changes.

So there was a time for about 3 years when I would have given the Cinebarre 5 stars and hands down the best movie house ever, and my husband and I were seeing at least 2 movies a week there, at that time.

But now things changed again and now they have gone downhill so far that they will not give patrons a glass of water!

I am not kidding. The last time we were in there I asked for some water and was told it would be 50 cents for a bottle of water, I said no just a glass would be fine and was told they cannot give people water anymore.

I'm a diabetic and needed that glass of water and was shocked that they wouldn't allow a patron such a small basic item without making them pay for it.

And just as a matter of interest, I used to get a kick out of the owner -- who is like this crusty kind of Texas mafia sort of guy, a little bit scary but fascinating -- but he has turned out to be one really nasty, money-grubbing individual.

I heard him bragging about how when someone told him that the Cinebarre was the best movie theater in Mt. Pleasant, he said something to the effect that "There's only two F***ing movie theaters in Mt. Pleasant," so I guess he didn't take that as much of a compliment.

Yes, Terrell, there are only 2 movie theaters in Mt. Pleasant and at this point in time the other one is better. Time to reassess certain attitudes and policies.

Re: “Family Circle Magazine Stadium

The venue was quite good and so were Boyz II Men. I love Patti Labelle and have seen her on three separate occasions. Unfortunately, her perforance was a big disappointment. She never sang a song completely through and talked more than she sang. She began by criticizing Boyz II Men for not coming to say hello to her and stated they had no manners. Shortly after she got on stage she complained about her diabetes, stopped her attempts at singing so she could drink orange juice. Then she proceeded to eat fried chicken and biscuits (turning her back to the audience for most of this lengthy period). Come on Patti, no wonder you need five shots a day if you can't get through a concert without fried chicken and biscuits. Paid to hear her sing not chow down on foods a diabetic shouldn't be eating anyway. Too sad!

Re: “Quyen

2 stars for service
5 stars for food.

I LOVE Quyen but when we went last week, after getting our food, out waitress disappeared! Never saw her again- never got our drinks refilled, and i waited 15 minutes after finishing eating for the bill to come...it never did....and i had to go up to the counter to get my check!

So frustrating. I love it there so much but service is important to me (and yes, i have worked as a waitress before).

Re: “Quyen

How I hate to be the one negative person, but will try to explain. I love Stephanie's recommendations and after lots of Twitter posts, we went tonight. It was a disaster. I can only guess that our experience was unusual. We had to ask for service several times since the waitress kept neglecting to come back (15 minutes or so to order in the first place). A couple near us was looking for their server at one point, after a while without, to explain they needed their check quickly to catch a movie.
The wait staff brought us AND the tables around us the incorrect orders - 5 times it happened while we were there.
The food was a very enjoyable experience and there were so many things we wanted to try, but after the mistakes and the non-attentiveness, I don't know if we have the energy!
