Some people, especially Charleston locals, do not care to be constantly bothered by self-promoting, in-your-face boors when trying to enjoy a quiet dinner of only-average steak.
The food isn't bad at all, and the prices are in line with what you get but - as many other reviewers have noted - the owners and some of the staff are overfamiliar to the point of creepiness, and it comes across as insincere. Lay off the gladhanding - you're trying way too hard.
All these ridiculously verbose five-star reviews from users with no other reviews - hello, cantw84sumr, Laura M. Dixon, marks0112, maddiecakes? These have all the - uh - hallmarks of being shills for the restaurant.
Too Meat Lovers, take notice. Nice Restaurant, however when you buy there top steak a 32oz porterhouse cooked WARM RARE for $72US you would expect exactly that. Steak that arrived was a mere T-bone not porterhouse and maybe 24oz at best. I know some of you will say that there is shrinkage due to cooking and the weight of the bone, but having had this steak there before, there was a noticeable change in size this time. I feel is you are paying the prices for there steaks at least make it close to the weight advertised. Enjoy at your own risk.
Based on all comments, odds are about 50-50 that you will NOT enjoy your meal at Halls Chophouse and pay too much to boot. As to the 3 star rating, it is actually less than that as some negative comments did not post a star at all and were not included in the calculations.
The food and service was good, but we didn't feel it was anything special for the price. We normally eat at a fine dining steakhouse downtown, which is around the same price. This, unfortunately, did not compare.
The steaks were good. Thats about all I can say. My wife and I decided to try it for dinner because a friend gave us a restaurant.com coupon for $25 BUCKS OFF. Seemed like a good deal. Well two ribeyes @ $33 bucks each, two straight up drinks and two salads. $120 bucks with tip, even with the $25 off. If it were "upscale" I might feel better, but I think they think a bit too highly of themselves. The steak was good, but I won't be back.

We went to Halls for half price burger Sunday. First of all, the burger was decent but was cooked all the way through when we had asked for medium-rare. The fries were actually good, however. The problem I had with this place is that they almost made us feel bad for ordering the burger. Why have half-priced burger day when you are going to make your customers feel bad for ordering just that? We were repeatedly asked if we were "sure" that's what we wanted. We went there specifically for a trial run since the menu is normally very pricey. This was the opportunity to test the waters without having an outrageous bill. Between the staff's immaturity and the just-ok burger, we will not return. I understand that Hall's may have great steaks, but please try to tone down the attitude.
