On a trip to Charleston with my Mom I googled Asian stores and H & L Supermarket came up with good reviews, so we made it one of our stops. We spent almost a $100 in groceries, including a can of coconut juice which I took a sip of before heading out. Well, the coconut juice tasted rancid and spoiled, even the coconut pulp was yellowish - a bad batch of coconuts or something. In any case I went back in to exchange it for a different can. I very cordially and respectfully ( I never get rude or snide, not my style) explained the situation to the manager lady but she obstinately refused to exchange the coconut juice, insinuating that I was lying and then told me to complain to the company that made it. Even after repeatedly letting her know that I truly wanted to be able to write her store a good review and spread good word of mouth to people I meet (hint,hint) she remained stubborn then rudely walked out on me. For their utterly abhorrent customer service, my Mother and I will never ever patronize this business again.
I never post feedback typically, but I am making an exception. My children and grandchildren were in town and I planned for us to attend the Low Country Christmas at Boone Hall. We had high expectations as being represented by Boone Hall and due to the cost of the event. We were extremely disappointed. The idea is phenomenal but very underdone. I realize this is their first year and perhaps some feedback will help them. Too few food venders, too few activities included with price. The long lines with a let down of product offered. Santa's workshop was rushed through and needs more live interaction, live props, not just painted walls. The Christmas Village could have used some pizazz, like a snow flake machine, more shops or interactive activities for kids. The hayride was fun, but truthfully, needed much more lights, could really have been all lights and just fun Christmas music playing and a guide to encourage interaction, we sang one song at the very end of the ride. One of my biggest gripes was no facilities for babies, I had to change my one of my grandchildren on the floor of a building on her coat. Needless to say I will not be recommending this event. I'm sorry to be so negative but I had such high hopes as it was the main activity I had planned during their stay. The lights at James Island is far more economical and well worth the trip.
Why doesn't this site have a listing of problems people have and who they call to resolve them? I need to know who to contact about installing a culvert so I may construct a driveway to my property. Also, to whom do I speak about missing street signs? Minor issues such as these could be listed without having to tie up personnel in the office. Giving a list of nearby restaurants doesn't seem the primary business of the Town.
Absolute miserable and rudest owners and employees ever. I was asked to leave the store for being on my cell phone. Didn't even have time for the phone to ring once before the rude employee told me to get off my phone and pointed at a sign saying "no cell phones". Is this even legal? Miserable creatures operate this store. Avoid at all costs. High prices too.
I was just the and apparently the nice manager quite and the rude girl at the register says that he quite because he offerred a lower price on goid than management wanted.. I looked around and saw that many beach item prices were double the price it was last week. sorry Waves but I will look elsewhere. Oh and the new ppl at register are really rude now.
Total Garbage. Do not get a CSA from them. They claim they grow their own produce, but alas, all they grow is more and more paranoid and resentful. When asked where the produce came from they claimed it was from their farm. I went on a tour of the farm and there is nothing growing there. At all.
I should have posted this comment a long time ago. As I drove by Christophe Artisan Chocolatier today, and was reminded of the terrible experience I had with the people who own this business, and I needed to vent about it.
In 2011, I purchased a Groupon coupon for $40.00 assortment of Christophe's chocolates. The deal was run just before Valentine's Day, so I decided to use my coupon on chocolates for my boyfriend, who is a chocoholic. When I called in a week before the holiday, I was told that the chocolatier was swamped with Valentine's Day orders, and they wouldn't be able to fill my order at that time. I understood how busy they were, and decided to redeem my coupon at a later date.
I called them several times, and each time I was given the runaround. I was told to call another number, but no one answered the phone at that phone number. At one point someone took my phone number and promised to call me back. No one called me back, and after numerous unsuccessful attempts to redeem my coupon, I gave up. So I was out $20.00.
If business owners offer Groupon deals and take our money, they should be responsible enough to make good on the deal we bought.
I'm confused by the hoopla about "Bottles", but more so that they felt compelled to have not 1, but 2 Grand Openings in the last 5 weeks! Why is that? I have to admit I so looked forward to a store like this coming to East of the Cooper for quite sometime like a lot of people. So, when I recently read in late November that they were having another Grand Opening Celebration I decided to take a few of my attorneys during our lunch break. I have to be honest...much to all of our dismay we were extremely disappointed with the wine and beer inventory as well as the selections we saw. The wine and beer sections are smaller than what I would've expected from the marketing/advertising I saw, but the liquor store was beyond too large. I guess the old saying is spot on in our opinion of Bottles, "don't always believe what you hear or read"!
Positives: Pricing is fair, but not great; staff is friendly!
Negatives: Wine and Beer inventory and selections; Walk-in Cigar Humidor was non-existent with tiny inventory and selections; No place to sit down if you wanted too; Bad location and extremely difficult to get in and out of Moultrie Plaza!
Went to the one on Rivers for the 2nd time, the same guy was working and completely rude. He said I needed to wait 3 wks before changing my nose piercing, wouldn't even look at it the first time, so I went back 3 weeks later. The guy immediately screamed "no kids allowed" when I walked in with my 2 year old. Since I am a single mom, I guess I am suppose to hire a babysitter for 10 minutes while I have my nose stud changed out. They were having roofing problems, so he couldn't do any piercings and when I went to point at my nose he screamed, "do not touch your jewelry. See the sign" Completely disgusted - went up the road to Exotic Impressions and they were awesome. Took care of my nose, extremely helpful, and very friendly to my son.
Bull Street Gourmet, eh? More like Bull Sh%* Gourmet. Sad to say this place has really declined in credibility. Recently ordered a bagel sandwich and was given a BLACK bagel. Completely burnt. The staff is so rude, also clearly they do not pay attention to what they are serving.
In addition, they advertise that they use H&H Bagels. H&H Bagels are New York bagels. When I ordered a bagel, I watched the clerk grab my bagel from a Kirkland / CostCo bag.
Not only do they serve you burnt food, but they lie about where the food comes from.
Get it together, B.S.G. Bring back what used to be good.
By far the worst comic store I've ever been in. Service is terrible and the owner is a crook.
Really? No one even said hello or offered to assist me when I went in. I quickly decided I'd rather support a local full line store than this soul-less corporate monstrosity.
Beware of this dance studio. Check their policy about withdrawing. You are committed to pay for the complete semester even if you are not satisfied or find the schedule is not working out for your family. My daughter has danced for 5 years and in the 10 weeks she attended, she did not come close to practising at the level she was at. It is more like play time than a real dance class. Take caution before enrolling at this dance studio!
I got mugged outside of the store. it's in a terrible part of town-- right nextdoor to the community thrift stores where homeless people hang around all day. i was disappointed in the selection at h&l but was impressed with the fact that it was so clean for an asian market. i don't know about you but the cleanliness was not enough to get me back to the store though because what i care about is 1) safety and 2) variety. both of which were lacking for h&l
Yoga is supposed to be the art of breathing and letting go among other things. Coming here is so uncomfortable, I have a hard time breathing, let alone "letting go". Some, but not all of the Yoga instructors are rude and inconsiderate to the customers. Yoga is supposed to be so much more, and this studio "takes" instead of "gives". I would not recommend this Yoga studio to anyone even if they lived right next door.
This festival by far was the worst event I have ever attended. As a native New Yorker I have experienced a variety of cultural festivals and one should never try to adulterate a cultural event/experience. They only had one vendor selling Caribbean food, which was horrible. The rest were selling food you can find at a backyard BBQ? The parade consisted of maybe 7-10 people and only one person with a full carnival contest, the other person who was not of Caribbean descent had a partial custom on? This was a real disappointment and a shame that this event was supposed to represent a carnival/festival. They needed to better organize this event and advertise accordingly. The advertisement was truly deceiving and did not follow through with its promise. Beware of the events advertised in this city, it is never what they say it is or what you imagine it to be!
SUCKY LITTLE OVERPRICED PLACE NEVER HAVE ANYTHING I EVER WENT THERE FOR I AM SURPRISED IT IS STILL THERE.
We recently had a horrible experience with this company. First off - the boat is in poor shape at best. The top is missing a bar and is help on by a rope. The windshield was cracked and the radio did not work. When we arrived - the girl helping us told us that this was the only boat they had running.
If that wasn't enough... the boat was rated for 10 people. We had 8 people and coolers. The boat could not go over 8 miles an hour.
We brought the boat back to the marina and were basically told it was our fault and the boat wasn't really rated for even the 8 people we had. We asked for a refund of the unused 6 hours. After being rude - they said they would only make us pay for the 2 hours used.
Here is the kicker... the two hours were then charged at the 2 hr rate (basically the 75% of the cost for 25% of the time).
The next time I want to be ripped off while being serviced by a 16 year old jerk - I know where to go.
Save your money and stay away.
Nice to duck into for air conditioning, but now that anyone can buy Moonpies ANYWHERE in the world, I am not sure why I want to spend a ton of money to buy them on a vacation in Charleston SC - so that then I have to ship them back home... or put them in the car for the drive back home...
And, sitting in there to eat and drink expensive food that is bad for me is not exactly a good investment of my time on vacation in Charleston...
Still, the store itself is nice... just not sure WHY I'd ever want to go again -- or why I went in the first place.
