Ordered take out wings last night from Wings and they had a problem with their credit card processing system. So they just kept swiping my card and eventually gave up and wrote up a manual slip. Lo and behold the next morning I had been charged 5 TIMES on my credit card. Definitely won't be using a credit card if I ever go there again! Now I have a huge mess to straighten out with them and my bank.

Wow where do I start with this nightmare. I am a pretty easy going guy, rarely send food back or complain. It was a busy Friday night at Folly Beach but Snapper jacks wasn't too busy, we waited at the bar, had a good beer and were seated at the table in about 10 minutes. After about 20 minutes our drinks were about gone and we were curious where our waitress was, the hostess found her sitting at the next table next to us with friends, I had noticed her there when we sat down, she was there the entire 20 minutes and laughing with the friends I didn't think she was a waitress. The waitress, Lauren, came over and took our drink order, we ordered soon after and that's where the nightmare started. After about an hour we wondered what had happened to our food, there really wasn't many people eating in this place. About an hour 15 one plate came out, and it took another 15 minutes to get the rest. my chicken was paper thin, cold and dry as rubber, whatever the flatbread shrimp thing was was burned on the bottom and the Salmon was 1/2 inch wide and 3 inches long, for $18 REALLY!!, I have had bigger and better Salmon at Sams as a sampler. The only decent plate was the fried shrimp, tough to screw that up. I gave my plate back to Lauren the waitress and our friend returned the burned flatbread thing and asked for an appetizer which she got quick, it was only shrimp dip, pretty bland btw. The manager came over about 15 minutes later, his name was Jay, he did the typical manager "i'm sorry but I really don't care" routine and said he would look into why our food was so bad, so late and so separated in delivery, I didn't expect to see him again and I wasn't disappointed. So after the chicken and flatbread thing was removed we still owed almost $100 between 4 people, friggen insane for the night we had in that place. I have been in Charleston for almost 20 years and have never had such an experience. We will never go back there, and I tell everyone I know the same, I hope tourists read this and stay clear as well. Lauren find another job, maybe involving a pole, Jay I heard there's a opening at McDonalds, you're a poor excuse for a manager, you weren't that busy you couldn't take care of paying customers
This place is like eating at a food truck. It's a small menu with trendy food that is a bit pricy for what it is and not that tasty. Save yourself some money and go to Five Loaves and get a salad and sandwich for the same price.
One of the worst experiences I've had at any restaurant downtown. Went on a Saturday while shopping on King St. with a party of 5, and 3 of us had problems with our entree's. The fish I had was burnt on the underside, while a friend of mine had chicken that tasted raw and flavorless. Just awful in every respect and the management did not seem to much care when he came to our table, thinking we were a bunch of tourists he'd never see again. Little does he know we are all local foodies with a wide network of friends. They do not have a good reputation with locals is evident after talking to people about this, its evident they are out to grab the tourist shoppers on King St., and could care less if they come back.
My boyfriend and I ate dinner here a few weeks ago on a romantic getaway to Charleston. We chose Stars because the menu sounded good, the weather was nice, and they have a rooftop bar. We made a reservation, were seated promptly by a friendly hostess, and were excited to try the many delicious-sounding menu options.
Our high expectations were not met, unfortunately. It was extremely loud inside the restaurant, to the point of not being able to hear each other screaming across our small two-person table. Additionally, the bruschetta and flounder tasted like the Dead Sea. I didn't have high blood pressure when I went here, but I could very well have left with it, considering the ridiculous amount of salt in these dishes. Upon "finishing" our meal, and sending nearly the entire plates of food back to the kitchen, no one bothered to ask us if there was anything wrong with the food.
The lesson I have learned from this experience is as follows: if you want a fun drink and a cool rooftop atmosphere, this is the place to go, but if you want a delicious and romantic meal, look elsewhere to one of the many fabulous Charleston restaurants.
The service at this place is terrible. Ive been there about 3 or 4 times because the food is decent, but I doubt ill be going back. I went there this past weekend and watched people on the right and left arrive after me and get get served over and over at the half filled bar...you seriously have to wave down one of the girls behind the bar just to get a drink or place and order. So after it took twenty five minutes for my order to come I just got it to go and left. Great way to lose business but maybe theyre not too concerned about that.
I am so confused by these reviews... Local food? You mean pancakes and fried chicken? This place is GROSS and for some reason always packed and therefore incredibly slow. I could see it being awesome if I was completely high or it was 3am or something. But then I'd rather have Waffle House's fresh local waffle or hashbrowns.
if you are a mindless zombie who follows fads while neglecting quality, you might like this place. if you have even a whisker of taste, you won't waste your time. the food is terrible, the beer is overpriced, there is NOTHING german about it. the only thing they have going is the fact that it is new. it is located next to the projects so don't get jumped while you walk back to your car since there isn't adequate parking. actually, you might be better getting a colt .45 and hanging out on the corner. at least you won't wast too much money. i'd give them some credit for the decor, but it looked the same before the joint was purchased by the current owners. basically it will be one of those places where anyone local will stop going to within a month, and anyone still caught there will be made fun of. look at any of the reviews of this place, google, tripadvisor, etc. they all say the same thing.
P.S. i thought the point of going to a bar was having someone else pour your drinks
the smoking option is the ONLY attraction. Better to just quit smoking!
This was a restaurant week ripoff. A friend tipped me off to this place, and described it as a sort of tapas bar that had really good selection of smaller foods. The tacos were excellent, and it was a good time. I reviewed the restaurant week menu, and thought it would be worth a try.
Last night I went out to a relatively uncrowded place on the public side. The end result, poor service, decent food, and an expensive check. By far, the service was the worst thing going here. Three times I ran out of water. This place is small, and there are not many tables. There should be no excuse for not getting a refill. Having to ask for a refill is in bad form. I had to do this twice. The appetizers were ok, but not thing to write home about. The main course, we got the taco appetizer and the enchiladas. When you see four tacos on a menu for a main course, you would assume that they would indeed be tacos. This was not the case. The tacos were the size of a mason jar lid. Estimate 3" diameter, and these were "tacos". While some were good, they were definitely not mind blowing, and not at all filling. My enchiladas were okay, but nothing mind blowing. For our dessert, the churros were good, but again not mind blowing.
This resulted in a check of around $45 and at best I would say we received $30 of food. The service was terrible, I can't recommend this place to anyone. Other wait staff were decent, from what I could overhear they did a fine job. Even with that being removed, the food was overpriced for what we paid. We won't be back. I suggest you stay away. If you do intend to go, be prepared to fight for parking as a result of your efforts.

I will have to agree with the new years review we thought we would give the place a try thinking that since it was new years it would be extra special. What an absolute waste of money. Our new years was ruined due to the bland over expensive dinner that we had at McCradys. It is sad when you are sitting at a 7 course dinner at $150 a person and thinking maybe you should have just paid $100 for an open bar and h'ordeuvres elsewhere with more of an atmosphere and live entertainment.
I was at McCrady's last night, New Years Eve 2013, for dinner with my date. The food was absolutely awful (it was a 7 course chef's tasting menu). Each plate was priced at $150 for a total of $300 for both of us, or so we thought. Our waiter asked us if we wanted to have wine that complimented each course, which we did. At the fourth course, we were so disappointed in the quality of the food that we elected to leave without having the last two courses. The food was that bad. I was stunned at the poor quality, and the experienced ruined our New Years Eve celebration. So when our bill came, we were charged almost $600 dollars for the disaster that was McCrady's restaurant. That's right, $600 dollars for two people. I am a resident of this area, and I can say that the meal we had at McCrady's restaurant was the worst I have ever had. I would not even to be able to rate this experience as a one star.
While our brunch today at Bluerose was good, if unremarkable, from a culinary perspective, the service was shockingly bad. I met a number of girlfriends who were visiting from out of town. We had two babies and a toddler in our party. While the babies made a typical mess (crumbs on the floor around their highchairs and napkins that had fallen to the floor), it was not extraordinary. Toward the close of our meal, a man came out and handed me a push sweeper and told me to "clean up our mess or pay extra." Dining with children, I always pick up after them (we were still seated with plates on the table at this point), and I typically leave a generous tip for the server to compensate him or her for having to deal with any mess left behind. Here, in a room full of other patrons, my friends and I were left, stunned, to clean the carpet. In perfect fairness, the waiter who served us for the majority of the meal was lovely and as this incident wasn't his fault, I didn't withhold a tip.
I live in the neighborhood, and try to eat out predominately at local restaurants. I'm also typically relatively forgiving of minor glitches or service errors, but I have never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant. I will not be returning, and I plan on sharing my experience with all of my friends, particularly those with children so that they don't suffer the same humiliating experience.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! Went once for lunch, went back for all you can eat crab legs with a huge group. They promised ALL YOU CAN EAT crab legs from 6-9pm and ran out at 8pm. Not only was our huge party out of crabs but other small tables around us were not given the ALL YOU CAN EAT CRAB LEGS that Wreckfish was promising to honor. This restaurant is a WRECKING BALL!!!! After talking to a server (that wasn't ours because ours had been sent home), two managers, AND the OWNER, NOT ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE APOLOGIZED AND/OR GAVE US THE APPROPRIATE "CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT" FEEL. I've been in the restaurant business for over 14 years and this treatment was COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!! They are all about themselves and NOT ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! Plus their food is just okay and way overpriced for what you get. I advise anyone wanting or thinking about trying this place and/or going back to STAY AWAY!!!! STAY FAR FAR AWAY! Plus the place smells like urine the minute you walk in. That should have been my first indication to turn around and go somewhere else. I would have been better off eating at Northwoods Mall Food Court. If I could leave a negative star rating i would.
I went to the Biergarten on a Saturday for lunch. I ordered the Pimento cheese roll appetizer (recommended by the server), Pork Schnitzel, tried two different beers, and my dining companion had sweet tea and a salad. The pimento cheese rolls lacked any discernible taste other than 'gooey cheese', could have been Velveeta for all I know. The pork schnitzel was as tough as shoe leather and tasted about the same as one would expect shoe leather to taste. Proper schnitzel, when prepared correctly, has been pounded thin, and could basically be cut with a fork. This was certainly not true of the Biergarten's version which was a carved piece of meat, that was then egg-battered and dredged through flour. Thankfully we passed on the 'beer card'. $50 for lunch that was not very tasty? I do not think so. My lasting impression is that if you desire a large space to hang out and drink beer, this is probably a good option, but I would skip on the food. Parking, as mentioned in several others post is a major problem.
Go Somewhere Else!
My husband and I took out his little sister for dinner. They ordered Chicken Parmigiana for $16.95 each. Both chicken breasts were BURNT and UNEATABLE. We complained to the waiter and waited for a manager to come by our table. No manager came by. We were CHARGED for both chicken dinners with two $3.25 cannolis on the house.
I couldn't believe the kitchen would serve burnt food and hide it under cheese and sauce like that. I couldn't believe the waiter didn't do more to make our dinner acceptable to eat. I couldn't believe no one cared.
They proudly put a 5 star rating on their door but don't back it up. AVOID THIS PLACE!
Obvious shill above, this place gets one star for despicable marketing tactics.
Not worth the money, won't be back.
