Re: “King Street Grille

same great King St. Grille menu - HOWEVER - worst service in mt. pleasant. Waitperson usually unavailable when restaurant not busy. Hostess acted annoyed when I requested service. Downscale 'decor', hard rock music. Do yourself a favor and go to the excellent Freshfields Village location instead.

Re: “Mike Calder's Buffalo Pub

be forwarned - asked to have the football game for the currently #1 ranked team in the country put on on one of the 14 screeens - was refused. this not a sports bar, just a local redneck hangout.
don't waste your time or money at calder's buffalo pub

Re: “Kickin' Chicken - Summerville

My boyfriend and I went to Kickin Chicken twice in the last month.
They were not very busy we did not see a hostess so we sat ourselves in a booth by the bar. We sat for over 20 minutes and never received service. This happened on both of our visits..the second time we were there I stopped a waitress and asked her if we could get a menu..she stated that was not her section. We left and will never return.

Re: “Crab Shack

You might want to go there for the beer, not the food. Soggy is a fitting description of the crab clusters. First thing to remember is they are already cooked when the joint gets them frozen. All you have to do is heat them up. But, in good old fashion southern style this place seems to have boiled the s--t out of the poor things. Same goes for the the fried shrimp. I'll describe them as mushy.

Now for the well chilled and tasty oysters on the half shell from Bulls Bay. Let's just say they were opened but not shucked. And, based on my experience, this goes for every oyster on the half shell serving reastaurant in Charleston. They all forget the final step in shucking, which is: Cut the oyster free from the shell. It is connected by a tough knob on the underside; slide your knife under and sever it.

Re: “The Wreck of the Richard and Charlene

Are they serious? Overpriced, mediocre food. That says it all...but I'll get specific.

So the place is hard to find? Who cares about that...I don't. So it's a dive? Who cares about that either...I don't. What I do care about is good food, for a comparatively reasonable price, and good service. We did not receive this.

We got a shrimp platter and the shrimp/scallop/oyster/fish combination.

Most important, the seafood was just ho hum. I'm from eastern North Carolina where we will fry ANYTHING...so fried food is my forte. This was not great fried food. The seafood itself wasn't that flavorful, and the fish was downright flavorless (not to mention mushy).

One of the worst parts was that they placed the side of white lima beans right next to the seafood. The limas had so much juice with them that it soaked the fried items and made them all soggy. That is not smart plating. The limas were the best side on the plate and only needed a little extra salt to be pretty good. The red rice was the worst I've (we've) ever had...anywhere. The cole slaw isn't very simple, made with lots of ingredients, and way too much celery seed. The grit cake ends up being a 1" cube. The menu says the dish comes with hush puppies..."ies" meaning plural. In reality it only comes with a single hush pupp"y" that isn't special at all.

The prices at the Wreck are extremely expensive...representative of what you might expect downtown Charleston. This is a shock considering they don't have to pay for air conditioning during the summer and they serve you on paper plates and plastic cups. I don't mind any of that stuff, but I would expect a discount because of it.

Our waitress came to ask how we were doing about 3 minutes before our meal was complete. Excellent service, eh? When I went to pay, the owner was running the register and greeted me with a very glum "hey". That is the only word he said until I was walking away when he said, "have a good night." Really? The owner? What an uncaring individual. He could have cared less about our experience or if we had a nice visit.

After a small tip, our bill totaled $50 for two of us. For $25 I expect a whole lot more from a dining experience. What a rip off. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The above reviews must be friends or employees or asked to leave a review because there was NOTHING good about this place. The food is so overpriced for what you get and tasted like s*&^! The service was bad when we could gould get service at all and if the band spent more time woohoo'n then actually singing! Never again would I set foot int there!

Re: “Saffron

The veggie pita was awful...a few veggies with spaghetti sauce poured over it. Just tasteless for around $9.

Re: “Water's Edge

Beautiful location , scenery and excellent attentive service, do not always denote a great dining experience. There is something missing here... oh right... the food.
Someone in the management needs to get a handle on the seafood end...until they do... i can't say you should even try here. As much as i hate to post a negative and influence someones' living i sure don't want you to waste your money when there are so many other options in town....even the choice of a 3 piece fish takeout from a big chain seafood place and a seat on the dock beats this place...currently.
Maybe its a simple fix.

Re: “Capriccio Restaurant

Not much to say about this restaurant, except maybe that the server tried very hard to improve our visit. It was HOT, and a table lamp put out such heat that the temperature increased by at least 10 degrees. The food was mediocre. What they call ciopinno is just pasta with bland tomato sauce, with a few pieces of seafood thrown in. No broth at all. We won't be going back.

Re: “The Bagel Shop

went into the bagel shop two times and ordered egg sandwiches both times they were delivered to me wrapped in tinfoil with no wax paper so the sandwiches became soggy and wet. I thought to myself if they are to cheap use wax paper i wonder what other corners their cutting. my wife received the turkey panini which came highly recommended by the staff, the sandwich came out and was cold in the middle, the turkey tasted like it had been sitting in A bucket for a few days. overall highly disatisfied, cut my losses at 15 bucks and decided that would be the last time. if your thinking about going here do yourself a favor and go to bagel nation, this place won't be around long.

Re: “Tommy Condon's Irish Pub & Seafood Restaurant

"Irish pub & seafood restaurant". How about deciding on one theme and do it properly, please... you are NOTHING-- i repeat, nothing---like a real Irish pub. The food tastes like it's pre-packaged meals that have just been warmed up and slid over onto a plate. In years past, it was a fun place to go, now it's just gotten really sad.

Re: “O'Brion's Pub & Grille

this place is horrible... just horrible.

the staff is rude - strange & detached - kinda like robots. i know this place is out in the woods of 41 - but its a freak show in this place when it comes to staff...

the food is basically right out of the harris teeters frozen food section located next door - prices are high for what this place can offer. bug light bottle @ 3$.

i kinda got the idea its the only place to drink in this area and they have the locals trapped...

when you walk in this place -a big a$$ fake fireplace is staring right at you - it certainly sums this carnival side-show in the woods right up.....just freaky / fake/ and wierd.

Re: “O-Ku

This place makes me laugh..I mean, barf! When there when it first opened, was decent. Went there the other day and was like, WHAT THE F HAPPENED? How can this place last, really? It feels off...like its all fake. There is this image that O-ku is trying so desperate (oh good, the word desperate is PERFECT here) to maintain feels like a sham. There is nothing much to back it up.
I guess trendsters and wannabe trendsters keep going there, tho. And there is nothing worse than hanging out with people who so so desperately WANT to look and act cool. Its just isnt, tho. Sorry.
And Sushi no good, seriously. The wait staff was outright dumb, and did not know a thing about a thing. O-ku is busted, imo.
Just keepin' it real.

Re: “Poogan's Porch

Surprisingly horrible food bad, all around. I brought my whole family here from out of town for an authentic Charleston meal. omg....it was not. They look like they do well, its a good story, good marketing, but it does all come down tot he food, and it was, well...gross. So glad to read others had a similar experience, and that it wasnt just me and my family, and all of my friends and their friends who agree.
Ouch, I know....bit I am just keepin' it real, here.

Re: “Social

I have eaten there 3x in the last 2 years, and each time my meal had something terribly wrong with it. The first time my ordered dinner was not available, (3 times after ordering...NOT kidding, and there excuse was that it was Sunday, and they were not usually open on Sunday), then it came back burnt, (mini Sliders I think...the bread was burnt, and the burger was wayyyyy overdon, but I am saving the worst part, and that was it had a hair in it. The second time, I am not kidding you, the cheese I ordered had mold on it. I KNOW: Why did I go back a second or even a third time?? The third time my meal came to ok, but it was NOT what I ordered, so I sent it back and 25 minutes later I got what I ordered but it was cooked so differently then I asked for it, and the waiter was really snobby and having a poor day.
I really want to like this place, and I have given it many chances. Additionally, it is crowded with people who are loud and obnoxious.
I am not old, nor a person who EVER sends food back. I LOVE food, I am a foodie, and love going out. But Social, for a local like myself who just wants to go out, have a great bite at a great value, be treated fairly, and not have to navigate a gross meat market where people cannot control themselves, Social is not it for me. Many of my locals friends agree. I think this place used to have a cool, chill crowd. It looks like they are making money, but it is not my kind of peoples. Or food. Or service. Decent wine list, though...
Sorry.
