I had the occasion to visit the area for the first time today. I asked around about a good place to eat lunch near the water and was told about Vickery's. But I'm sorry to say that I was not thrilled. First of all, the hostess never said a word when I walked in. She just gave me a weird look. I had to do the speaking. That should be a huge no-no. Part of her job should be greeting customers with a smile. She, honestly, was pretty unfriendly. I chose lemonade for a beverage and it was okay but tasted flat. The slaw I had was unedible. It was bitter and tasted terrible. I'm not sure if it was bad or not but I wasn't going to take a chance. I chose the fried shrimp and they were good but I was surprised at how tiny they were. The fries were lukewarm and wimpy. All in all, I spent $23 for a lunch that, in my opinion, was of far less quality than Red Lobster. I was pretty disappointed.

Overpriced. Average food. WEIRD management. I have never been to a restaurant with such intrusive owners. It is CREEPY. Go to wikipedia and look up pompous and you will see Billy's face. So many better options in this city. Don't bother.
I wanted SO BADLY to like this place. With only a few hookah bars in downtown (Tabbouli, Paradiso, and Smoking Lamp), it is high time for Charleston to up its game. But this just isn't the place. Yes, the interior looks nice - for now. But with the same owners as Torch, I suspect that it may go downhill and feel dirty just like the previous bar.
The place really has an identity crisis. "Moroccan" theme, with an Indian name, serving Turkish food, and with Latino ownership? The decor is nice, though far from authentic, but more importantly - the hookahs are AWFUL! It is actually embarassing to watch their employees make them.. it's clear they have no idea what they are doing. Moreover, they have no idea what the pricing is.. I visited three times and ordered the EXACT same hookah each time, and was charged different prices by different employees each time. Upon bringing this up, they got extremely confrontational and did not provide any sort of menu that listed their pricing.
Aside from rude employees and a lack of identity, the crowd was really the most off-putting aspect of this (bar? club? restuarant? hookah lounge?).. It is fine on a laid-back weeknight, but the location of the bar BEHIND the hookah lounge is just a bad idea. Excuse me as I'm enjoying my smoke, I do not want to see some blacked-out girl hiking up her dress and sloppily making out with some guy as she nearly knocks over my hookah. Really just an awkward place overall, and so sad to see that what could have been an awesome concept was so poorly executed.
Worst food experience I have ever had at this restaurant. It all started out with a simple misunderstanding about the menu. It all finished with me vowing to never go back again.
This was the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. I have never had a worse dining experience in my life. First, the waitress tried to upsell everything to us, and kept pushing us to order more, it was very uncomfortable. Secondly, they failed to tell us that rolls were half price because it was happy hour. We had no idea, and our friend came in randomly, and told us about the deal we were missing out on. We felt pretty cheated, they deliberately hid the deal from us, because they wanted to charge us full price. Two rolls were $24 which is a total rip off. Then, my wife asked to cancel one of her rolls as she had ordered too much, they would not allow her to cancel it, they said it was already made, when it was right after she ordered. It was really crazy. Lastly, when we came to pay, I used a $20 groupon I had purchased plus cash, it was 100% valid and purchased recently, they refused to take it saying it was only good at certain times of day?? It was completely ridiculous! I have never had a worse experience at any restaurant, in my life!
Do not eat here, they are crooks and it is a terrible atmosphere. I cannot stress this enough, don't waste your money here. They were really sneaky about the half off. When we asked our waitress about the half off deal she got very offended and told us that you had to sit in a certain section of the restaurant to get the deal. This was after we had gotten the huge bill. It was absolutely unbelievable.
Stay away from this place at all costs.
This place on a Saturday is ridiculous. They charge 5$ cover fee to have to wait at the bar and get served like 20 mins later. Who does this 5$ go to? That stuck up little club promoter who thinks his stuff doesn't stink. GET RID OF THAT GUY!!! I will take my business elsewhere.
After spending a good deal of time and money at this restaurant, Halls finally showed us their true colors. Dont be fooled by their fake charm like we did. They need a security doorman at the front to handle the drunk unruly patrons who insult and fall over other customers. I felt like i was at a Biker Bar. The Halls and their staff are ineffective and inexperienced to deal with this. I have been to numerous steakhouses over the last 25 years and this would never occur there . Do yourself a favor, go to Oak and be treated properly and professionaly everytime, in addition to getting a much better quality meal.
Ordered take out wings last night from Wings and they had a problem with their credit card processing system. So they just kept swiping my card and eventually gave up and wrote up a manual slip. Lo and behold the next morning I had been charged 5 TIMES on my credit card. Definitely won't be using a credit card if I ever go there again! Now I have a huge mess to straighten out with them and my bank.

Wow where do I start with this nightmare. I am a pretty easy going guy, rarely send food back or complain. It was a busy Friday night at Folly Beach but Snapper jacks wasn't too busy, we waited at the bar, had a good beer and were seated at the table in about 10 minutes. After about 20 minutes our drinks were about gone and we were curious where our waitress was, the hostess found her sitting at the next table next to us with friends, I had noticed her there when we sat down, she was there the entire 20 minutes and laughing with the friends I didn't think she was a waitress. The waitress, Lauren, came over and took our drink order, we ordered soon after and that's where the nightmare started. After about an hour we wondered what had happened to our food, there really wasn't many people eating in this place. About an hour 15 one plate came out, and it took another 15 minutes to get the rest. my chicken was paper thin, cold and dry as rubber, whatever the flatbread shrimp thing was was burned on the bottom and the Salmon was 1/2 inch wide and 3 inches long, for $18 REALLY!!, I have had bigger and better Salmon at Sams as a sampler. The only decent plate was the fried shrimp, tough to screw that up. I gave my plate back to Lauren the waitress and our friend returned the burned flatbread thing and asked for an appetizer which she got quick, it was only shrimp dip, pretty bland btw. The manager came over about 15 minutes later, his name was Jay, he did the typical manager "i'm sorry but I really don't care" routine and said he would look into why our food was so bad, so late and so separated in delivery, I didn't expect to see him again and I wasn't disappointed. So after the chicken and flatbread thing was removed we still owed almost $100 between 4 people, friggen insane for the night we had in that place. I have been in Charleston for almost 20 years and have never had such an experience. We will never go back there, and I tell everyone I know the same, I hope tourists read this and stay clear as well. Lauren find another job, maybe involving a pole, Jay I heard there's a opening at McDonalds, you're a poor excuse for a manager, you weren't that busy you couldn't take care of paying customers
The service at this place is terrible. Ive been there about 3 or 4 times because the food is decent, but I doubt ill be going back. I went there this past weekend and watched people on the right and left arrive after me and get get served over and over at the half filled bar...you seriously have to wave down one of the girls behind the bar just to get a drink or place and order. So after it took twenty five minutes for my order to come I just got it to go and left. Great way to lose business but maybe theyre not too concerned about that.
if you are a mindless zombie who follows fads while neglecting quality, you might like this place. if you have even a whisker of taste, you won't waste your time. the food is terrible, the beer is overpriced, there is NOTHING german about it. the only thing they have going is the fact that it is new. it is located next to the projects so don't get jumped while you walk back to your car since there isn't adequate parking. actually, you might be better getting a colt .45 and hanging out on the corner. at least you won't wast too much money. i'd give them some credit for the decor, but it looked the same before the joint was purchased by the current owners. basically it will be one of those places where anyone local will stop going to within a month, and anyone still caught there will be made fun of. look at any of the reviews of this place, google, tripadvisor, etc. they all say the same thing.
P.S. i thought the point of going to a bar was having someone else pour your drinks

But The Sound Board Is The Worst I've Heard Maybe He Just Doesn't Like Bluegrass Or Folk. The sound man can make or break a venue

I went to the Biergarten on a Saturday for lunch. I ordered the Pimento cheese roll appetizer (recommended by the server), Pork Schnitzel, tried two different beers, and my dining companion had sweet tea and a salad. The pimento cheese rolls lacked any discernible taste other than 'gooey cheese', could have been Velveeta for all I know. The pork schnitzel was as tough as shoe leather and tasted about the same as one would expect shoe leather to taste. Proper schnitzel, when prepared correctly, has been pounded thin, and could basically be cut with a fork. This was certainly not true of the Biergarten's version which was a carved piece of meat, that was then egg-battered and dredged through flour. Thankfully we passed on the 'beer card'. $50 for lunch that was not very tasty? I do not think so. My lasting impression is that if you desire a large space to hang out and drink beer, this is probably a good option, but I would skip on the food. Parking, as mentioned in several others post is a major problem.

horrible place, food is sucks, service is slow. i was there yesterday to watch halloween contest. i do not f.. believe that winners had no costumes won. Judges eliminated really good costumes like everybody's favorite rednecks couple. i believe winners were friends with bar stuffs or judges. worst halloween contest ever ever ever. highly not recommended. place needs to shut down.
I have been going to Morgan Creek grill for several years. Haven't ever thought much of the service or the food, but love the location. After enjoying a nice afternoon downstairs at the Creek with friends I learned a few days later that they had charged my credit card twice. I called immediately and after speaking with 3 people was transferred to Carla Pope the "manager" who told me "it was a busy day, it was a human error." I totally agreed. Carla said they would refund my credit card for the second duplicate charge, so I asked that the restaurant also pay the expenses they incurred because of their double charge and Carla refused. She told me "its not our fault you can't manage your money." What? As a local who has frequently Morgan Creek Grill for years I cannot believe the outrageous attitude and behavior Carla exhibited. Where is the service recovery? After speaking with the bank today and no refund has been processed I will be contacting the fraud department.
Was very dissapointed in our last visit to Hall's. Went on a Friday night with guests in town and had reservations through OpenTable. Show up at 7:30, and they have no tables available, even though they had called earlier that day to confirm out reservations. They seat us at the bar to wait on an available table. Its so loud and drunk people pushing into us, our quests are quite annoyed and ask if we should leave. The old hostess who works there, who is a Hall and part of the ownership, comes up to us every 5 minutes to apologize to us. Not to mention she has horribly bad breath as she has to get right in my face to talk as its so loud in there. We are seated about 20 minutes later. We end up spending easy $100 each on 4 people. Our two guests from Chicago were very unimpressed with the food and our experience there, I thought the food was just ok that night, but not nearly for what you pay when you leave. It wasn't my first time, but Hall's has worn thin on me from the first couple times we went there during the first year. Talking to friends it seems to be wearing thin on just about everyone. Lucky for us, plenty of exciting new restaurants to take Hall's place.
