tasty, light fare with lots of veggies, nice decor, good service, reasonable prices, easy seating, no tourists.

Re: “Summerville Farmers Market

Save the trek to Market St. and pick up a sweet grass basket from Gigi, next to Gruber Farm stand. Small selection but great prices.

Re: “Leon's Oyster Shop

Well worth the visit. Some of the best oysters I've had in a long time.

Re: “The Green Goat

Just had lunch at the GG and can add two things to the previous post:
Pork chops, fried rice and grilled mixed vegetables were absolutely yummy.
The over pouring server has been removed.
That being said, my personal policy is to no longer order mixed drinks anywhere that does not use measuring devices on their liquor, and post the amount measured.
Simply put, I need my license, I don't need a DUI, especially after trying to drink responsibly and stop after two drinks.
These servers that do this over pouring are not doing you any favors; their only interest is to get you more inebriated so you will tip more.
They could give a shit less about the legal problems that may cause you.

Re: “Leon's Oyster Shop

So very glad I got to eat the fried chicken and check out this creative and tasty new spot before work pulled me out of Charleston for a few months. It was one of the last things I did before leaving downtown and I can't wait to get back. Best of luck to Brooks and Tim!

Re: “The Green Goat

Food is outdated and the drinks are not consistent. You can leave in a cab after 2 drinks. Which is great if you're into having a good time in 30 mins or less. If the owners don't change up the menu or the bartenders they may not be in business for long.

Re: “The Mustard Seed

I was in the Mt Pleasant restaurant... place smelled like dirty mop water, my arms stuck to the table. Got up and left- pronto!

Re: “Bushido

I've eaten at Bushido many times and enjoyed it- i wouldn't say it's anything outstanding but I live quite close and appreciate knowing I can rely on them for consistently good sushi if I get a craving or can't bring myself to cook dinner after work!
For the city paper folks: the link info provided with this write up is incorrect. I just located their actual site, bushidojapaneserestaurant.com.

Re: “Palmetto Brewing Co.

Fantastic location and great vibe. I have gone to a couple of free events at this location and PBC has a great open air atmosphere.

Re: “The Mustard Seed

I totally understand scmama's comment(Bless her little heart!). Sweetie, if you're used to going to Huddle House, you probably won't like this food, and you should probably stay as far away from Shem Creek and Downtown as possible.

Re: “The Mustard Seed

Try the sesame chicken salad with honey mustard dressing. Its fantastic. Anyone comparing the seed to huddle has has zero credibility. If something isn't right at the seed you send it back and they fix it. Their motto is "we kiss your ass". Fantastic food and great people. If you don't speak up you can blame yourself.

Re: “Smith Family Cleaners

We had been using Smith Cleaners on Folly Rd for some time, but they lost a long-time customer in us this summer when they "lost" two of my husband's expensive suits. The compensation they offered wasn't even enough to purchase one suit of equal quality. This was a very upsetting situation, and we were highly disappointed in the outcome. We could have just had bad luck with them, but they clearly did not pay attention to detail in this situation. We will not be using them ever again.

Re: “Luckhaus & Brubaker Sweets & Treats

I have visited this wonderful bakery a few times since it opened, and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it! They have a great variety of sweet treats, at reasonable prices compared to other bakeries in the area. The staff there is warm, friendly, and welcoming, and they appear to be working very hard to create a great bakery on James Island, which has been lacking one. I really hope their business does well. If you have a sweet tooth, check them out. You won't be disappointed!

Re: “Brasserie Gigi

Warm inviting and DELICIOUS! Could sit at the bar all day long on a rainy day soaking up the atmosphere, dining on incredible food and a great bottle of wine.

Re: “Cinebarre

Avoid this place at all costs. Unprofessional, teenie-bopper staff, dirty. Bad, over-priced food and beverages. Stream someting at home instead. You're welcome.
