The only place in Charleston that serves real fried chicken.
Eating here is a lot like going to Summerville.
Too many men wearing tight jeans and women reading books, but those are really negligible and are worthy of a pass. They would do well to add some cornhole boards and a few flatscreens so that you didn't have to make conversation with a bunch of potheads, but otherwise everything seems up to par. Despite some small shortcomings, they still make a good cup of coffee. You can even use your dog as a conversation starter seeing as how they allow canines and similar small pets on their deck.
And I agree with the reviewer above. The place is located in an absolutely JEM of a location.
Best restaurant in Charleston
Great staff, good food, good drinks. Music is not too loud, tv spacing good too. Wifi seems to be hit or miss though, depending where you're sitting. My boyfriend and I LOVE coming here. Shoutout to Jake!

"Must have WENT"???? How about "must have GONE". Jeez.....
I had the occasion to visit the area for the first time today. I asked around about a good place to eat lunch near the water and was told about Vickery's. But I'm sorry to say that I was not thrilled. First of all, the hostess never said a word when I walked in. She just gave me a weird look. I had to do the speaking. That should be a huge no-no. Part of her job should be greeting customers with a smile. She, honestly, was pretty unfriendly. I chose lemonade for a beverage and it was okay but tasted flat. The slaw I had was unedible. It was bitter and tasted terrible. I'm not sure if it was bad or not but I wasn't going to take a chance. I chose the fried shrimp and they were good but I was surprised at how tiny they were. The fries were lukewarm and wimpy. All in all, I spent $23 for a lunch that, in my opinion, was of far less quality than Red Lobster. I was pretty disappointed.
You must have went on a bad night. The service is normally great and the staff are very hospitable. They have awesome rock n roll bands during the week.
Poor Management!!! Terrible Service, Unfriendly, and nasty attitudes. Will NEVER visit again!!
they cut 3 songs off the set list
and no stairway to heaven
very disappointing -
Hello every body my name is Cynthia Morgan, am from United Kingdom England, I just want to share my experience with the world on how Dr iayaryi, help me, I got my love back and saved my marriage… I was married for 3 years with 1kid and we lived happily until things started getting ugly and we had fights and argued almost every time… it got worse at a point that he filed for divorce… I tried my best to make him change his mind & stay with me because I love him so much and don’t want to lose him but everything just didn't work out… he moved out of the house because it was a rented apartment and still went ahead to file for divorce… I pleaded and tried everything but still nothing worked. The breakthrough came when someone introduced me to this wonderful, great spell caster who eventually helped me out… I have never been a fan of things like this but just decided to try reluctantly because I was desperate and left with no choice… He did special prayers and used his power… Within 4 days my husband called me and he said he was sorry for all the emotional pains he had cost me, moved back to the house and we continue to live happily and our kid is happy too and we are expecting our second child… I have introduced him to a lot of couples with problems across the world and they have had good news… Just thought I should share my experience because I strongly believe someone out there need’s it… You can email him through his email.(email@example.com)

Amazing sushi. Very interesting choices. Good prices especially for how large the rolls are
Fabulous food!!! Meat isn't even missed. Love the chefs use of fresh ingredients. Very filling and extremely satisfying.
we always have great service and food is outstanding ...maybe we are just very friendly people and the employees recognize this..there manager always comes over and asks how we have been even remembering our daughter by name ...we drive from Isle of Palms to eat there..but we are original James Island Rams ..thanks love it!!!
The food isn't bad at all, and the prices are in line with what you get but - as many other reviewers have noted - the owners and some of the staff are overfamiliar to the point of creepiness, and it comes across as insincere. Lay off the gladhanding - you're trying way too hard.
All these ridiculously verbose five-star reviews from users with no other reviews - hello, cantw84sumr, Laura M. Dixon, marks0112, maddiecakes? These have all the - uh - hallmarks of being shills for the restaurant.
I have been to Halls three times. My first experience, I will admit, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. We arrived to the restaurant and there were some very friendly people working there. I had the best steak I've ever eaten with some of the best side items. It was an incredibly pleasant and tasty experience. Having ordered steak at several other restaurants, I think the price was comparable and I haven't found anything to compare to the taste. I left Halls with an awesome impression and really enjoyed it. Obviously it is not somewhere I could afford to eat regularly. My second experience was at the Sunday Gospel Brunch. I had sweet potato pancakes and having had them at a restaurant in Nashville, TN that is famous for them, Hall's tasted better. During this visit to Halls, I did find the wait staff to come by a little more than I wanted them to. The restaurant was not as busy as the first time I dined there so I assumed that's why. My last experience occurred last night and it was by far the best. Yes Billie is very friendly. It's something that throws you off if you aren't expecting it, but that's just how they do things there. I had another amazing steak and our table enjoyed delicious sides. We went for a birthday celebration, and they gave us free shots. We had birthday cake at home so we didn't order dessert but they gave us free cake to take home anyway. On top of that, there was a live band playing that sounded awesome. It was overall a really fun night and celebration. I can see where some people would find the Hall family annoying by their over friendliness or how the wait staff clears the table for you or serves you sides, but to me that is just part of the experience. They want to treat you well and make sure you have a good time. I have had awesome experiences each time and will continue to go back when I can. I also find it nice that they mail a hand written note thanking you for your visit. Do they need to do that, no? Is it really nice, yes! I am so glad I did not read any of the reviews on here before forming my own opinion. I would challenge others to do the same. Yes you should expect to pay a good bit (you can check the menu prices before you go), yes expect the wait staff to be overly helpful or friendly, expect one of the Hall family members to greet you and try and talk to you. They may even give you some jelly beans. If you don’t like human interaction get a cheap steak at Walmart and stay home. Halls was packed last night so there are a lot of people out there that would disagree with the negative reviews here. I would also like to add that I am not a tourist. I am sorry other people have had a bad experience at Halls, but I surely have always had a great time. Saw Thomas Ravenel there last night.
I don't know where any of these bad reviews come from. Maybe from insecure people uncomfortable going into a fine dining restaurant and someone knowing your name even though you made a reservation in advance? No idea. If you don't like feeling 'warm', then call it appreciated.
We always feel very appreciated that we chose to eat at this restaurant when we do. Halls Chophouse is a wonderful restaurant. Do not let bad reviews fool you! Yes, it is loud downstairs, but not nearly as loud upstairs. Wonderful steaks that could possibly make a vegetarian reconsider their ways.
My favorite experience I've had at Halls:
After a busy day of moving, we set out for WINGS!! I was in fleece lined leggings (sweats, basically - you probably wouldn't want to do this on a busy weekend night for your own sake of dignity!) and he was dressed down as well. It was after 10pm on a week night and after a bad experience at a neighborhood wings restaurant, we headed downtown while I called every restaurant down the list Google pulled up. Halls was open and we were on the way! We almost didn't go in because of how we were dressed, but Billy greeted us at the door and we totally forgot about the crazy day we had as we walked up the stairs. One delicious, melt in our mouths, savory tomahawk steak; several scrumptious sides [- omg, the mashed potatoes and truffle! to die for!!!]; amazing desserts; and a couple perfect drinks later - we were stuffed, amazed at the service, and planning to come back for our special occasions when we have more time. Cannot say enough about how much Halls is worth the time, experience, and money!!! It's not McDonald's people - you don't eat there everyday. Make time for it and save up the money so you don't have to worry about it! Geez!
- (Picky, rarely steak loving) LOCAL!!!!
