I love this place. Never had a problem with services. Whenever I have people from out of town visit I always take them here for the duck club.

Seeing as how you copied and pasted this exact same post from 2 years ago, I'd say you have your answer. They're too cool to give a shit about customer service. And after 10 pm they're too wasted to give a shit.
After reading a couple of the bad reviews above, I wanted to come charging in here to the defense of this great place. The food is awesome, the beer selection is good (and always cold) and the crowd is a good mixture of what Charleston is...
That being said, I have to say that they are unfortunately spot on when it comes to reviews of the service and general attitude of the staff. At times it seems as if the hipster style of just being too cool to care bleeds from the atmosphere (where it's okay) to the service (where it's not.)
I go here often and will continue to do so. I humbly ask the ownership to take note of these trends in comments. It can't be all of them have a grudge or caught you on a bad day.
The only thing, in my opinion, anyone could say negatively about this place is the apparent apathy in customer service.
As I said, I will go back and I will continue to recommend it to family and friends. I just hope they get this bit corrected.

Bugs, heat, and cigarette smoke. No thanks, and thanks for the warning so I won't waste time and fuel going there.
Just back from the new Johns Island location. The food was tasty but the menu seems limited. The food is served in baskets which I find to be a pita. I got the cheesburger which came back quite charred and very well done. I tried to cut it in half and it fell to pieces. $8.50 + $1.50 for cheese gets you a burger like the one at Smokey Oaks for $5. No sides are included and the smallest fries are $2.50.
The walls are covered in stuffed animals which I'm not into and they crank classic rock even during lunch. I could see cranking at 8pm but really at 11:30 am? It just makes me want to hurry and not relax. The entire side wall is an open garage door to the outside bar and I expect bugs and heat inside during hot days. It seems a very odd design.
The tables are way too close putting everyone on top of each other. Overall, I'm not excited.
Extra points for having a sweet pinball machine.
I've only had breakfast here, but it was almost as good as waffle house and just 3 times more expensive
Mgmt. is horrible, the order was messed up and after repeatedly calling and reaching the answering machine she agreed to compensate for their mistake. We did not pick up their replacement. (Too late and too much inconvenience). When I called the next day, to explain what had happened, the manager raged and hung up on me. Way to treat your customers!
I can't wait until the one on Johns Island is open. I work like 1 mile from there. I know they had some construction issues, but they have to be close now.
i have been going here since they opened. i LOVE it! the service is always friendly and it is my favorite local hang out and they always have great music playing.

Great mussels mariniere. French fries are like crack. Good service. Can be very noisy on weekends, but so many restaurants are. Quiet ones are ones without people. What does that say?
I don't get it. Why the complaints? This is not a fine dining place. It is a wonderful classic French dinner bistro; The kind I like to drop into in Paris. We are regulars, usually eating a salad frisee with goat cheese and Moules Frites. They also are known for their Suchi (a bit of a surprise). It can get noisy around end of work, hookup time and the service can be terrible on any of the holidays due to over demand and decreased staff, but it hasn't stopped me from going. If you want elegant and pretty food, go elsewhere and pay considerably more. Here time it well and eat well.
Four of us went after a Spoleto event. Talking to those across the table turned into a shouting contest due to the noise. We will not go back for a later meal.
Have been several times for lunch and the decibel level was nowhere near as bad.
Rue de Jean is a Charleston classic that never disappoints. Downtown is so saturated with new and amazing restaurants that it’s easy to forget the ones who have been a fixture for such a long time. We were endlessly debating on which new restaurant to visit when we decided to pick a place we haven’t been in years. Rue fit that description.
Each of our courses came out tasting better than the last. The escargot, while straightforward, was delightful. The steak Roquefort was cooked to perfection, and the scallops were massive with perfect texture. The rich cream both served with the scallops was out of this world. Our server was a true professional, and the wine recommendations were spot on.
What is the point of this review? It is to remind those of us who have lived downtown for years to not forget the classics. There are so many new restaurants that have opened recently and it’s easy to fall into the hype trap while overlooking the establishments that have been producing a consistent and quality product for a long time.

The food in this place rocks! I was afraid to go to this place because of what I saw online. But my best friend kept saying that I needed to go. So I went and WOW! Crazy! Food was great and inexpensive and the atmosphere was terrific.
So, being the jerk that I am, I'd asked, why did they get so many bad reviews and then they pointed to me to all of the other sites that they were doing well on. I showed them the review about the Groupon and they said that in this business, you can only try to please everyone. Not everyone can be satisfied. Further, they noted that they are under new management and that they took over the business in 2013.
Lesson learned: Most people that enjoy a location would never take the time to write a good review... it is only those that have a bad experience that go out of their way to note it. So... I am going out of my way to write a review of my experience last night!
