I am very disappointed in the Down Town Charleston La Hacienda Restaurant. I enter the establishment on July 17th with prospective customers for a lunch . To my surprise the Bar area had just been fleshly painted with a Red Varnish. After have the paint stick to my brand new White Shirt, i informed the Manager Pablo who tried to explain to me i should not have touched the Bar because it was wet. "A little late after i have done so, don't you think?"
Either way, this indecent could have been prevented by tapping of the area with a NOTICE of WET PAINT like most restaurant that care about there costumer. This action was completely Negligent by the restaurant. After speaking with the Manager he assured me if the Paint could not be remove by the Cleaners, La Hacienda would pay for the Shirt. After 3 Calls, 2 visits Management and the Owner has decided to ignore my complaint.
This will now become a legal matter, for much more. For this I give them a rating of ZERO!!!
I find these reviews a bit confusing. First, we have these reviews of a rather overpriced, over friendly steak house, with mediocre food and high prices. Then we have the complete opposite thoughts of 5 star rated experiences. Nothing in between. I start to wonder if the 5 star are being sent in by friends or owners of Halls. If you really want to put them in their place, join Trip Advisor and review the place. If you had a good time, tell them. If it was not so great an adventure, let them know. I've been there, and it was over priced and very underwhelming. I told Trip Advisor and felt I had done a justice to those who will consider visiting in the future. If you are going to spend over $100.00 per person in this town, the visit needs to outstanding in every respect.
It is a shithall.
These people are about the weirdest family I've met in the restaurant business. The dad has no personality and never says more than 3 words, the mom looks like she's from another century and is always so old and tired looking and the the two sons constantly come by your table to see what your eating, like staring at your food and watching you eat. The slick looking son always has this grin plastered on his face and takes after his dad in that he only has a vocabulary of about 10 words. I have to go there for business dinners every month or so, and most everyone complains or has comments on the family members. Alot of locals don't go there because of complaints about the family being overbearing. They do well with tourists though.
charles robinson. we would love the chance to have you in again. we love people who love to dine with us and those who dont as well...keep on truckin and we will do our best to do the same. happy trails in the charleston culinary world.
I personally like the place. Never had trouble with the service. We really like the wings, as they are huge and spiced just right. But the sandwiches are to die for! Where else can you get duck, pork belly, wonderful Reubens, and other well prepared meats in a great bun? I come down from Summerville a couple of times a month just to eat there. Around Happy Hour, expect to wait on an inside table. Families are there, as well as college kids, and everything in between. The duck fries are unique to the Moose, and are delicious. I'll definitely be back. I hope those who did not like their first experience try them again.
This one of the better joints in town. They have a handful of very well prepared and creative gourmet sandwiches. Duck fat fries are pretty hit and miss, unfortunately, but I don't mind rolling the dice on them. Good beer selection as well.
Decent bar food. Not good by any means, but not horrible. Service was tolerable. You won't hate going here, but there's really no special reason to go there either.
I live in the near vicinity of Parson Jack's and have tried the restaurant a couple of times. The first time I went there, the service was so so, but having worked in the service industry for years, I know that there are some nights when the staff is just "off." The second time I went there, the service was still pretty lacking. For example, I asked for a glass with my bottled beer and the waitress looked at me like I was crazy for asking for such a thing. I was with friends who knew the waitress, so i didn't make a big stink about it, but deep down I was like, "Really?!"
Also, the times I have been there, the waitresses always try to make excuses as to why the food takes forever to come out. The first excuse was, "We're really backed up tonight, so it's gonna take at least 45 minutes for your food to come out." The ironic part was that there was maybe 6 tables seated in the whole restaurant, so I didn't buy that excuse. The second excuse was, "our entire kitchen staff is new, so it is gonna take about an hour for your food to come out. They're still working out the kinks." You'd think that management would keep a couple of veterans on board to train the newbies, unless the entire kitchen staff walked out the night before. Knowing this place, I wouldn't put it past them.
Basically, the managment of this establishment should take a long, hard look at themselves in the mirror because what they're doing now isn't working. I really want to like this place since I live nearby and I really think that it has some potential, but the management needs to change in order for me to return.
P.S. - I really hope that Parson Jack's management reads this post and does something to save their restaurant.
New owner! Great food! FAST service! Definitely done an up grade here! Thank goodness! :) I WILL be back!
After reading a couple of the bad reviews above, I wanted to come charging in here to the defense of this great place. The food is awesome, the beer selection is good (and always cold) and the crowd is a good mixture of what Charleston is...
That being said, I have to say that they are unfortunately spot on when it comes to reviews of the service and general attitude of the staff. At times it seems as if the hipster style of just being too cool to care bleeds from the atmosphere (where it's okay) to the service (where it's not.)
I go here often and will continue to do so. I humbly ask the ownership to take note of these trends in comments. It can't be all of them have a grudge or caught you on a bad day.
The only thing, in my opinion, anyone could say negatively about this place is the apparent apathy in customer service.
As I said, I will go back and I will continue to recommend it to family and friends. I just hope they get this bit corrected.
This place SUCKS! Went there today, ordered food and drinks. After 3 drinks (we were waiting patiently) and swatting countless flies on the patio the food never came and our waitress had gone home. Just piss poor. Won't be back. Too many other good places to go in Charleston.
Was not impressed at all with this restaurant. I had my FIRST and LAST visit to Bighorn'ts last night! Had a complaint about my food, called to voice said complaint, and was RUDELY told that there was absolutely nothing that can be done!!! I thought this was RIDICULOUS!!! Not to mention, the menu is big, but filled with the same ol' stuff...NO VARIETY!!! To me, it's not much to choose from...as far as pricing goes, the food is NOT worth the money they're charging!!! Save your money and go somewhere else, I wish I'd did that...I wouldn't be writing this review!!! Needless to say, I will NOT be returning to this establishment!!!
I would like to take back what I said about food prices. The food prices were average. I would also like to say I like the idea of this restaurant... I just think the bar area is too small for entertainment and the kitchen closes to early when they have so many customers. I was really aggravated-and so was my bf when we drove all the way out there, hungry, and couldn't watch my friend play or eat.
I went to the West Ashley one. Not enough parking, really bad design/layout of building, bad acoustics, overpriced drinks and the kitchen shuts down too early. We went out there to see a friend's band play. We could not find a parking spot for a while, and then when we went inside (around 9) we were told the kitchen was closed. There were tons of people there, we grabbed the last seats available. We couldn't find seats in the bar so we couldn't watch our friend play so we left. The bar is not big enough, period. The building is "L" shaped with the bar being in the corner and most seating in the narrower part---you can't see the bar from there. It took forever to get a beer and pay for it and it was way overpriced.. i think it was $4 or $5 and it was a Fat Tire. No desire to go back. I think their food prices were high too.
The food is okay but the service is terrible. It's not the least bit Irish, so don't go there expecting it to be an Irish pub. They do half-priced burgers on Tuesdays, which is why we went tonight.
We sat for about 10 minutes with no one approaching us and watched two more groups get seated. A guy approached the group a few tables away, a girl approached the one in the booth directly behind us, and we were ignored. My husband caught the girl as she walked past and told her we were seated first and hadn't been greeted yet. She said she would find out who our server should be. The discussion with the hostess happened within earshot of our table. Apparently the hostess didn't tell anyone whose table it was, so the one serving the people behind us rolled her eyes and ended up being our server.
We waited for about 15 minutes before our order came out on a tray with the food for the people behind, despite our order being entered several minutes before theirs. That explains why my fries were lukewarm. The food was brought by someone other than our server, who tried to escape like she had dropped a bomb. We managed to ask for condiments and silverware, though. We saw our waitress once for the rest of our meal, when she asked how we liked our food and filled my husband's water. Lucky for us the couple behind us accosted the hostess to get their bill, and when the waitress appeared we got ours at the same time.
This the second time we've been for the half-priced burgers, and the second time we've gotten bad service. While the burgers are tasty it doesn't make up for the severe lack of service.
Try the bobby fries!!
