Too Meat Lovers, take notice. Nice Restaurant, however when you buy there top steak a 32oz porterhouse cooked WARM RARE for $72US you would expect exactly that. Steak that arrived was a mere T-bone not porterhouse and maybe 24oz at best. I know some of you will say that there is shrinkage due to cooking and the weight of the bone, but having had this steak there before, there was a noticeable change in size this time. I feel is you are paying the prices for there steaks at least make it close to the weight advertised. Enjoy at your own risk.

This place has always been on my bucket list because of all the negative remarks. No business could stay in business if they were true.
Went there tonight and I thought it was great. The food was totally excellent and the service was extreme. I have been through a formal apprenticeship, worked in several country clubs in Atlanta, and have eaten at a few fine places which gives me a little perspective.
Billy Hall came off as genuine and personable and took the time to schmooze my 80 year old Mom. She loved him. I would cross the street to shake his hand.
I wanted SO BADLY to like this place. With only a few hookah bars in downtown (Tabbouli, Paradiso, and Smoking Lamp), it is high time for Charleston to up its game. But this just isn't the place. Yes, the interior looks nice - for now. But with the same owners as Torch, I suspect that it may go downhill and feel dirty just like the previous bar.
The place really has an identity crisis. "Moroccan" theme, with an Indian name, serving Turkish food, and with Latino ownership? The decor is nice, though far from authentic, but more importantly - the hookahs are AWFUL! It is actually embarassing to watch their employees make them.. it's clear they have no idea what they are doing. Moreover, they have no idea what the pricing is.. I visited three times and ordered the EXACT same hookah each time, and was charged different prices by different employees each time. Upon bringing this up, they got extremely confrontational and did not provide any sort of menu that listed their pricing.
Aside from rude employees and a lack of identity, the crowd was really the most off-putting aspect of this (bar? club? restuarant? hookah lounge?).. It is fine on a laid-back weeknight, but the location of the bar BEHIND the hookah lounge is just a bad idea. Excuse me as I'm enjoying my smoke, I do not want to see some blacked-out girl hiking up her dress and sloppily making out with some guy as she nearly knocks over my hookah. Really just an awkward place overall, and so sad to see that what could have been an awesome concept was so poorly executed.
I went here on Saturday night with a date and absolutely loved it. I ordered the vegetarian plate, and it was AMAZING. Mrs. Hall knew my date, and she introduced herself to me and was incredibly warm and friendly. The bartender, Hugh, was attentive and funny, and the rest of the staff were kind as well. Not sure what all these negative reviews are about--I will DEFINITELY be going back here.

I was in the business for over 30 years, managing and owning restaurants. I can not figure out how this family keeps the place packed! Service is rough, food is mediocre in regards to the prices charged.
I live in Charleston, I went there for Gospel Sunday Brunch with a group of friends and I love it! I plan to go back for the Sunday Brunch. I'd Shake Billy Hall's hand anytime.
Most locals vowed never to return to "Bambuzeled" the day of their grand opening...others must be masochist who enjoy the pain and suffering because somehow the place is still open for business.
Worst food experience I have ever had at this restaurant. It all started out with a simple misunderstanding about the menu. It all finished with me vowing to never go back again.
This was the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. I have never had a worse dining experience in my life. First, the waitress tried to upsell everything to us, and kept pushing us to order more, it was very uncomfortable. Secondly, they failed to tell us that rolls were half price because it was happy hour. We had no idea, and our friend came in randomly, and told us about the deal we were missing out on. We felt pretty cheated, they deliberately hid the deal from us, because they wanted to charge us full price. Two rolls were $24 which is a total rip off. Then, my wife asked to cancel one of her rolls as she had ordered too much, they would not allow her to cancel it, they said it was already made, when it was right after she ordered. It was really crazy. Lastly, when we came to pay, I used a $20 groupon I had purchased plus cash, it was 100% valid and purchased recently, they refused to take it saying it was only good at certain times of day?? It was completely ridiculous! I have never had a worse experience at any restaurant, in my life!
Do not eat here, they are crooks and it is a terrible atmosphere. I cannot stress this enough, don't waste your money here. They were really sneaky about the half off. When we asked our waitress about the half off deal she got very offended and told us that you had to sit in a certain section of the restaurant to get the deal. This was after we had gotten the huge bill. It was absolutely unbelievable.
Stay away from this place at all costs.

A prediction - Once Ruth's Chris Steak House opens in the French Quarter, this Hall's joint will be history:

I live here too, and there's not a person I've been there with or when you mention Hall's to someone who doesn't comment about the owners, the Hall family. Hands down the weirdest, creepiest, most eccentric family in town. Why all four of them have to be there at all times is beyond me when one would do on any given night, its not like they dont have enough employees running the place. Each one you could write a few paragraphs about, and are the talk of many conversations in Charleson. Just the facts, dude!
Not a former employee, not a competitor. The steaks in this place are the tits. Everything else is lame as shit.
Lil Billy Hall (the one who looks like Farkus from Xmas Story..or the Sherminator from American Pie) hovers around the resaurant and clearly has his minute-to-minute ego wrapped up way too much in this place to be so visible on the floor. The dude is just creepy.
If I really want a GREAT steak, I will prep and cook a great cut myself at home. What you pay for in these places is just as much about atmosphere than food, and this place falls WAY below my bar of dining environments in similarly priced places in Charleston.

I have read thru many of the comments and find them rather suspicious. The mean spirited comments smack of being posted by disgruntled former employees or jealous competitors since the focus of the complaints are directed at the owners/hosts, not the food.I am a local and have eaten at Halls many times, for both business and family events. I do agree that the prices are high, but I have never walked away disappointed. The food and service have always been excellent. Depending on where you are seated, it can be a little noisy. I prefer the upstairs dining areas since they are more amenable to conversation.
I strongly disagree with the comments that state that locals stay away from Hall's. I live here and have never heard a single negative comment about the owners or the food. Since when is it "creepy" for a business owner to remember your name or to inquire if you were satisfied with your purchase? Charleston is a small town and part of its charm is that local businesses DO remember who you are. I have out-of-town friends who look forward to eating at Hall's and the hosts even remember their names. The food is amazing--try any of the steaks, but the tuna and salmon are wonderful, as well as the corn and brussels sprouts.
Is this EVERY Saturday, or only when they have a band playing. Or do they have bands? I can't imagine a cover fee just to eat or drink there. I usually go to the Chas. Grill in Northwoods. Can someone clarify this one?
My favorite place in Charleston. Seriously hands down awesome tacos and great margaritas.
