Re: “Buddy Roe's Shrimp Shack

Great food, fun place and the best live entertainment in town!

Re: “Buddy Roe's Shrimp Shack

Ronnie Johnson & his lovely wife and staff have been supporting local live music for years. This past year they have graciously hosted traveling songwriters and numerous benefits for musicians who are sick or in dire straits. The fried shrimp are su-pah!

Re: “Buddy Roe's Shrimp Shack

One of the best kept secrets in the Charleston area. It's where the locals like to go and hang out. The food is awesome and the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. Ronnie is a fantastic entertainer and his music will have you dancing the night away. It's one of our favorite places to go. It's kid friendly as well!

Re: “Buddy Roe's Shrimp Shack

As a professional touring musician/entertainer with over 35 years spent road-dogging from Miami to NYC, and Atlanta to Seattle, I have performed at a host of 4 and 5 star restaurants and resorts..and I know a thing or two about food, atmosphere and entertainment. For any person to post a negative comment about Buddy-Roe's, to me, simply means they are either lying..or have no class, no travel experience, no notion of quality, and more than likely no money. (The bad grammar is usually a dead-giveaway that you're dealing with cretins!) Buddy-Roes Shrimp Shack in Mt. Pleasant is, for my money, the most fun, laid-back restaurant and music venue in the entire metro Charleston area. The food is consistently excellent, the customer service is impeccable, and the vibe is warm and friendly, with everyone who walks through the door treated as friend and family. The facility itself could have been airlifted, intact, from Key West and installed onsite..it's that authentic, and atmospheric. The music is awesome (and I am HARD to please!) and the dance floor is always busy! I have friends from all over the USA who have stopped by for an afternoon or evening, and they consitently offer the same opinion "this place is a hidden treasure"...just minutes from everywhere in the historic district, this is THE place for food and fun!

Re: “Buddy Roe's Shrimp Shack

If you are looking for a place to dance the night away - look no further. The food is great and the band is even better. The open deck is awesome.

Buddiroe's should definitely should be apart of your weekend plans!

Re: “Buddy Roe's Shrimp Shack

One of my top "Must Visit" places when we go to Mt. Pleasant/IOP area. I was introduced to Buddy Roe's three years ago and have loved it ever since. The food has always been good, Ronnie is a great entertainer. It's a good place to just go and unwind, have a few adult beverages, dance or just sit back and listen to some good musice.

Re: “Buddy Roe's Shrimp Shack

So you want a Local Place that doesn't take your wallet and throw it in the Marsh? A place you can hear great tunes, talk to the cool bartenders and eat LOCAL SHRIMP!?! Then go to Buddy Roes. No, they are not paying me! I just think this place is spiffy since Ronnie bought this eye sore next door to me and opened The Shrimp Shack! I even took my Uncle Bobby to shag... he loved it! Try the Shrimp Basket GRILLED with the Hot Bacon Sauce! yum.... and you have to try the fish tacos. Better than POE'S! Love it... always a great time. Thanks guys! You're awesome! xo

Re: “Madra Rua

Great place for a pint o' beer... good atmosphere for hanging with friends (4+ stars). The food is good, but not wow, fairly typical (3 stars).

Re: “Rendezvous Bar and Grille

The best thing for this place to do would be to prepare to close. The food was mediocre at best. The service was extremely poor. I took my parents and younger brother here for "dinner" and left being disgusted and embarrassed. Definitely not worth the money I spent there. My mother and I thought we were ordering Ribeye steaks as stated in the menu at $17 each; well what we got were tough sirloins, ordered mid-rare; received more medium. the asparagus spears that came as one of the sides was cold and over cooked. My father ordered Chicken Parmesan ($12) and got 4-6oz chicken breast covered with 4oz of breading over a bowl full of fettuccine with 2oz shredded Parmesan, 1 piece of sliced mozz over "chicken" ; all swimming in around 10 - 12 oz of marinara sauce. My brother "Buffalo" Chicken sandwich looked like it had been dipped in hot sauce and was so hot that he could not finish it (and believe me, there is nothing the boy can't eat---until now) it was utterly gross to even look at. As an appetizer we ordered 20 pc lemon pepper chicken wings; well, the chicken tasted and smelled like it was about to expire; not to say the seasoning helped it at all. The "lemon pepper" tasted more like pepper and sugar with a hint of lemon. Our serve was new (that was most evident) but she was not being helped or should I say "trained" by either of the other 2 people there.

There were four tables including ours and it took 40 minutes for the appetizer and another 30 minutes for entrees. When we made the serve aware that we were not at all happy with our food she laughed. Well, a little later someone that appeared to be one of the "owners" came to our table asked about the issue and simply smiled it away as if it were nothing to be concerned with. I could go on and on about what is wrong with this place but will stop here.

The shame is that, with the right people owning and running this place it could be a gold mine. The atmosphere could be so much more than what it is. The building is beautiful (for a sports bar/ restaurant). Unfortunately, I will never be back there and will most certainly NOT suggest Rendezvous to anyone.

Re: “Kickin' Chicken - Summerville

My boyfriend and I went to Kickin Chicken twice in the last month.
They were not very busy we did not see a hostess so we sat ourselves in a booth by the bar. We sat for over 20 minutes and never received service. This happened on both of our visits..the second time we were there I stopped a waitress and asked her if we could get a menu..she stated that was not her section. We left and will never return.

Re: “Daniel Island Grille

On the bright side, if you are looking for a cool sports bar without having to go to far, then this is a great place to go. They have many tvs set up inside and out. As far as anything else goes, the food is terrible...they must rely on liquor and beer sales to stay open. Some of the staff and very friendly and like to have fun, but others are just kind of stupid and are only there to try and make a buck. If you are able to be there on a day when the owners are not drunk, then they are pretty nice guys and will do anything for their patrons, unfortunately, they are drunk about 90% of the time they are there. I will still go to have some drinks and watch some games, but I do not go there because I like DIG.

Re: “Buddy Roe's Shrimp Shack

The above reviews must be friends or employees or asked to leave a review because there was NOTHING good about this place. The food is so overpriced for what you get and tasted like s*&^! The service was bad when we could gould get service at all and if the band spent more time woohoo'n then actually singing! Never again would I set foot int there!
