I love the kind of bar that is equipped with the type of staff that have your drink ready for you before you even sit down. I love a bar with a bitchin' juke-box. I love a bar with huge , tasty nachos. I love a bar that has more than dudes wearing the 'Charleston Uniform' behind it. All these reasons are why I love The Mill. Oh, and Greg, of course. The Mill has Greg and that, too is why I love the Mill!
The Mill is by far the best bar in North Charleston, no make that the entire Charleston area. The art, the music, the food, the events and of course the beer...no bar does it better. Don't listen to some of the idiotic comments posted, I've never met better bartenders. The bartender commented on the most respectable barkeep I've ever come across. You should be so lucky be served by him. Give respect to get respect.
I never had any problems at The Mill... staff has always been friendly. Never had a bad time there and the food was good.
I have seen some of the people the bartenders get mad at and they deserve it; and this is not tied to any particular bar.
I ordered some nachos from there and dudes hair was in it.I was half way threw before I noticed.I was devastated.I told ole Blackbeard but he didn't seem to care and offered no money back. That guy is a jerk.
why is the BULLETBOYS not listed?
The bartender with the dreads is like the 'Soup Nazi' on the old Seinfeld show.He is frustrated because he is a life time bartender and the only power he has is to determine who to serve and who not to serve in a rat hole bar.
Gotta love Art's. It's the local's spot in Mt. Pleasant with great live music almost every night. The house band on Friday nights is especially fun. The food is great too. Highly recommended.
This is place where a brother can go and chill.Champagne pops and the party never stops. The white girls pack a mean trunk of jelly junk.Blunts be getting passed around.
Great treat to have good coffee in a garden and read, meet friends, get some early spring sun and listen to the birds sing. That's not all; there's a sitting room in the back you could be lucky enough to inhabit with some friends. What a find!
(A heads up: It does become a bit crowded as a place for C of C students to study during finals, though.)

I had the great pleasure of visintg this ecelectic Reataurant/Bar/Gathering Place/Live Music venue/wonderful Food/ Incredible Ribs/marvelous Service especially from a psuedo Organic fantacis whom I nicknamed ORGI, for over 2 years. Kent, the owner of ARTS is simply put, one of the top 5 bar owners Ihave known in my 57 years, of which 52 of them have been invested in time in bars, taverns, and pubs. If oyu are someone who thinks you simply have to go to Market 225 and such GO ON , GO AHEAD, then night cap out at ARTS. Free horse de overs Monday through Friday all the way through this damn Recession. Kent could have pulled them to save $$. But he didn't. Outdoor patio built in part by a tremendous carpenter talent named RONNIE is where you can smoke and be as damn loud as you want..Come to think of it you do all that 'cept smoke INSIDE. Thank God for the legilsature passing laws to protect me from myself PUH FREAKING TWO EE. So my unknown readers. Ya gotta stop at ARTS.
My distant second recommendation for a great locals place is BIG JOHNS ON E BAY You can get a bumper sticker there reading "I LOVE BJ's then when oyu look at the fine print it reads "I mean Big Johns you pervert" Great burgers and tater tots in BJs.
I miss ARTS very much and BJ's a lot.

Tell Orgi I still love her and tellmy Steve my English friend ""ello mate"
Leave Mt Pleasant's overdone/overpriced area, escape downtown's college/hoity-toity air, and you arrive in The Mill in Park Circle. Where the same beer you get at Poe's for $6.00 is $3.50, with laid back bartenders, and where real people, not name-droppers out on the playboy/playgirl prowl, just go out for a good time.
HIDDEN JEM! Tucked away right off King, we never would have found this place if it wasn't for someone at the farmers market raving about Kudu. Without a doubt, one of the top coffee shops in the south east!
Most times the bands are good, there's been a few really bad ones though. I like the atmosphere there. The place could use a little expanding.
Great place to hang out. Usually offers up good bands.
I really liked this little place. Lots of good people and good spirits. Music was great. Location was easy to get in and out off 61. I'll definitely be back.
sometimes good bands, over play others. way too much smoke. bartenders are very slow and rude unless you know them, then its all good. very drunk people. used to be a great place to go now hit or miss.
Best to be avoided by non-smokers.
this clearly is the only stop you need to make while in west ashley. full of friendly locals, great bands, and the best damn bar staff around. Denise & lynn make sure you have a damn good time every visit. and they've been known to party right along with ya. they're truly the best around, thanks girls! ya need to check out they awsome super bowl party/ chili cook-off. best damn bar in charleston!
