Tehn maybe you should go back to New York.
This will be my second time visiting Middleton Gardens and I can't wait. I intend to use Omega Transportation as my ride ( since I can save 10% on a round trip) and I will tour the gardens after the demonstrations. I know the gardens will be beautiful this time of year. And I won't have to fight the traffic, so I am really excited.
I don't know what some of these people are talking about. I think the food and service is great. My only problem is the price--I don't want to pay 22$ for two sammies and two drinks. Also my BF has celiac's disease, bring back the gluten-free options! The "hipster/punk" guy has always been helpful and respectful to me.
@Timmons, my first thought too. why would they need seats? Also, too much of a liquor selection? I have never heard of such a thing. Bottles is a great addition to Mt P and I will surely do most of my wine and liquor shopping there.
I've been there three times and welcome their selection to East Cooper in general. I didn't get to the Grand Opening, but was there just after the soft opening and since. It isn't Total Wine, but then it is a third the size and actually in my (work) neighborhood. I would say that wine diversity is their area of least strength and the "beyond too large" liquor selection certainly could have been sacrificed a bit to this end. However, I certainly had no trouble finding something nice in the bourbon department. Local Terrapure FTW!
The growler station is plentiful; I've been able to find a good price on whatever kind of wine or beer I was seeking, and the staff is legitimately friendly and helpful up to and including recommendations.
@Mr. Connoisseur, Esquire: I have to take exception to the comment about egress from Moultrie Plaza, though... there's a traffic light for left turns, three other exits for right turns, a side street to cut over to Shem Creek. Heck, I'm sure you could land a helicopter in that lot if that's what the problem was. Between that and the seating comment, you lost me.
So when did they have 2 "Grand" Openings? They had what in the world of retail is called, a "soft" opening a few weeks before. But I only saw and heard of 1 Grand Opening. And I agree with nofaith, lawyers should stay out of liquor stores on their lunch breaks... And their beer selection is pretty good. They don't have room yet for singles, but I was told that would be in the near future as well.
Great addition to East Cooper. Hate making the trek to West Ashley's Total Wine.
Ok, ok. After discussions with many about my review, maybe i overreacted. maybe i was the one having the bad day and i did the same thing that i myself complained about and took it out on an undeserving party. I am giving 4 stars to even out to a 2.5 star rating. Jerks was probably a little too strong and it's really only one person who has rubbed me the wrong way so it's not fair to group the entire store in that light. I will maintain that the level of service i have recieved on many occasions was disheartening. I will maintain that their selection is incredible. And let's be serious, I will still go to some of those beer dinners because the quality, menu, and value is exceptional. Also, i wish i had an alias on citypaper website and not my name...haha
I was there and loved the performace. It was VERY hot though! - JA
I disagree with the above review. 52.5 is a great, funky, local place to poke around in and see what you can come up with. i have found some great obscure records in the 25cents bin and some fun nostalgic bday presents for friends. Its not a place to find everything that you are looking for, but something you never thought to find.
Who knew?! This lil downtown gem is a miracle at lunch or an early supper bite. We had the tuna and cilantro sandwich, and a Sullivan's crepe. Truly a palette pleasing experience... Friendly place. Nice vibe from all kinds of people and students. Not your normal restaurant, for sure. Will come back again...
I'm an olive oil freak, and this shop fills the bill quite nicely! I picked up the Picual oil. Apparantly, this olive will have an extremely limited pressing this season. Get it while you can!
Re: “Bottles”
Great variety, good prices. What brings me back is the friendly staff and and helpful service.
