Excellent store, covered most everything in working with beads.
Great variety, good prices. What brings me back is the friendly staff and and helpful service.
I'm so excited for Katherine and her new collection of RTW items! I've been a big fan of lulakate from the 'skirt' days and have purchased a bridesmaids dress and can't wait to be a customer of the new collection as well! Love supporting local businesswomen in our area.
I was shocked to find out how cool HoB was, especially since it was right down in Mt Pleasant. This place is a craft beer lovers heaven, wrapped up in a locals bar. First of all, if you are looking for a normal drinking establishment, you are in the wrong place. This is a house, converted into a bottle shop and bar. They have a nice list of rotating taps, along with two bedrooms full of bottles. Feel free to pick out any bottle you want, and they can have it chilled and served in a few minutes. Prices are fair, especially for Mt P. What really makes this place special is the atmosphere. The owner is the bartender, and you will not find a nicer guy. He cares about his customers and wants to personally meet every one of them (first name bases kind of thing). The house-like atmosphere really pushes you to meet and converse with strangers, as you sip on fine ales. The back and side yards are set up with fire barrels and seating, as well as a stage for live acts. With many positives, we must also discuss the negatives. My only main issue is the hours, which isn't the owner's fault. They close at 10pm, mainly due to the fact that they are in a residential area. I hear that one of the neighbors doesn't like them (for no good reason), and complains quite often. The early closing time can be a letdown if you are a late dinner kind of person looking for an after dinner beer. Despite the early closing, it is still an awesome place to hang out and enjoy some brews with friends.
Charleston Scuba is a highly professional, 5-star PADI dive shop. They put safety first above everything. I learned how to dive through them and have been diving with them ever since. I'm in my sixth dive season now and love the family and friends atmosphere I experience when I dive with them.
I should have posted this comment a long time ago. As I drove by Christophe Artisan Chocolatier today, and was reminded of the terrible experience I had with the people who own this business, and I needed to vent about it.
In 2011, I purchased a Groupon coupon for $40.00 assortment of Christophe's chocolates. The deal was run just before Valentine's Day, so I decided to use my coupon on chocolates for my boyfriend, who is a chocoholic. When I called in a week before the holiday, I was told that the chocolatier was swamped with Valentine's Day orders, and they wouldn't be able to fill my order at that time. I understood how busy they were, and decided to redeem my coupon at a later date.
I called them several times, and each time I was given the runaround. I was told to call another number, but no one answered the phone at that phone number. At one point someone took my phone number and promised to call me back. No one called me back, and after numerous unsuccessful attempts to redeem my coupon, I gave up. So I was out $20.00.
If business owners offer Groupon deals and take our money, they should be responsible enough to make good on the deal we bought.
A very welcome addition to downtown summerville, definitely something different, and delicious!
I LOVE this place. The owners are very friendly and helpful without being pushy, and they have a nicely curated variety of merchandise. This is a great place to find hostess or bridesmaids' gifts. They also carry exquisite antique-style jewelry.
Sadly, the store is no longer in business :( I went there a few weekends ago to refill my bottles but the place had been boarded up.
Rating 5 stars because when it was open, it was THE place to get fine olive oils and vinegars and super helpful staff. Got to try so many things that I normally wouldn't try there and learned to like quite a few others!
Go green and stay healthy should be done for your pets too! Go to DoLittles to get started! The staff at the Summerville store is very good! There is a sweet girl there that is super friendly and smart. Her name is Lindsay and she makes a good store GREAT!!!!
Not sure what happened to this place..I heard the old owners left and there's a new ownership in place. Really miss the old ones! The place is filthy and kinda ghetto now, the food dropped dramatically in quality, and got way more expensive! Not sure how these guys are making it..
They have dogfish heads brew, love it, have alot of other craft brewers, love it. Seems they have some cool events which I hope to make on the 2nd of feb and its in mt. Pleasant and saves me a trip to west Ashley. I believe someone said that getting in and out sucks, so does going to total wine so stop your "wineing"( and yes I know how I spelled it for you spellcheckers out there). I'll be popping my head in there more then I probably want too....
It is in "my opinion" after 5-6 visits, event tastings and the fact that I have spent close to $500 (including an overpriced $35 bottle of champagne for New Years) that... I'm utterly disappointed!
Bottles, is definitely limited in their wine selection and inventory. Their wine selection is 1/5 of Total Wine and maybe a little larger than the average grocery store which is to me is disappointing. The staff knowledge up to and including management is sub-par and uneducated when it comes to descriptions and pairings...also extremely disappointing. The beer selection and inventory is okay, but not great and I feel there are to many "shelf fillers" that will go outdated. Be cautious and careful when buying! They claim on there Facebook page that "Bottles has largest selection of beer in Charleston." I don't think so...even the Beer Guru and well respected writer and columnist Timmons Pettigrew said "Really??". I think they might carry 1/2 of that at Total Wine and maybe 1/4 of what Charleston Beer Exchange jams into there small locations inventory. The liquor selection is good, but over-crowded and poorly organized. The have too much inventory face-outs to the point it's overwhelming in size. The cigar humidor selection and inventory was a joke too!
As I said, it is in "my opinion"...that I give Bottles an "E" for effort (not excellent either) and have to agree with previous comments that their education to close a deal is great, and their staff up to management's product knowledge and education to pairings is disappointing.
I also have to agree with a previous post, it is difficult to get in and out of that plaza regardless of the exits. If you don't go to the light to turn left you'll see what I mean. I was witness to a traffic accident a few weeks ago when someone pulled out from the main entrance.
Love this place! Laura is always super helpful! As a mom of three this is a big outing for me and I've never been disappointed!
Quite possibly one of the coolest places I have ever been. with over 400 beers to choose from there is easily something for everyone. Either grab a beer from the cooler or toss one from off the shelf into the chiller and enjoy on premise or put a 6 pack together or grab a growler for the road. Live music on weekends, corn hole, and an all together great atmosphere. Rob, the owner, is one of the nicest people i have ever met. If you haven't been to house of brews be sure to make the trip soon.
I don't know what some of these people are talking about. I think the food and service is great. My only problem is the price--I don't want to pay 22$ for two sammies and two drinks. Also my BF has celiac's disease, bring back the gluten-free options! The "hipster/punk" guy has always been helpful and respectful to me.
Whateverz..
You have been a member for what a week. You obviously work at Brixx and take offense to my review of them back in July 2010. I did not register on here to self promote where I work as you obviously have. I have given honest reviews and unlike yours unbiased
Troll. Troll. Troll. Troll. How exactly can you guarantee you have spent more money than i have in a certain store? Just go away.
ALEYEAST, 1st, I didn't call you an internet troll. Second, you are entitled to your opinion as is everyone else in the world. I was simply stating the fact that you never seem to have anything nice to say about anything. That's all. You're a beer geek... we get that. You seem to know loads about beer and wine. Good for you. It just seems that with all your negative comments, there must be at least 1 positive comment you could make.
And I have been in Bottles. And I agree with you, the wine selection is somewhat limited and the beer selection is pretty good. They're not trying to be another CBX. And neither is Total Wine. Each of these stores has their own niche, and I think they all do a pretty good job at filling that niche. I wasn't trying to insult you. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!!! Cheers!!!
Re: “Legare Farms”
Total Garbage. Do not get a CSA from them. They claim they grow their own produce, but alas, all they grow is more and more paranoid and resentful. When asked where the produce came from they claimed it was from their farm. I went on a tour of the farm and there is nothing growing there. At all.
