Great addition to East Cooper. Hate making the trek to West Ashley's Total Wine.

Re: “Bottles

I'm confused by the hoopla about "Bottles", but more so that they felt compelled to have not 1, but 2 Grand Openings in the last 5 weeks! Why is that? I have to admit I so looked forward to a store like this coming to East of the Cooper for quite sometime like a lot of people. So, when I recently read in late November that they were having another Grand Opening Celebration I decided to take a few of my attorneys during our lunch break. I have to be honest...much to all of our dismay we were extremely disappointed with the wine and beer inventory as well as the selections we saw. The wine and beer sections are smaller than what I would've expected from the marketing/advertising I saw, but the liquor store was beyond too large. I guess the old saying is spot on in our opinion of Bottles, "don't always believe what you hear or read"!

Positives: Pricing is fair, but not great; staff is friendly!

Negatives: Wine and Beer inventory and selections; Walk-in Cigar Humidor was non-existent with tiny inventory and selections; No place to sit down if you wanted too; Bad location and extremely difficult to get in and out of Moultrie Plaza!

Re: “Bottles

The store has a nice selection of beer and wine...Cigar Humidor needs some help...As for the liquor, Dantes right down the street next to the Pig has the best prices in town for booze...And the staff is easy on the eyes!

We went for the opening party and had a blast! Such a great staff, kegs, awesome selection and parking! Makes me want to throw a party.

Re: “Bottles

This place is awesome! I have already been twice as its the only place around where I've found a huge selection of wine, beer and liquor all under one roof. Their wine selection is incredible – and at great prices. We have been needing a beverage superstore like this in Mt Pleasant for a long time.

Well played, Josh. Well played. I'll file this under "high-quality internets."

Re: “Charleston Beer Exchange

My only problem with CBX is that it's not located closer to me, which is probably a good thing or I'd spend most of my paycheck there. I love that place and I don't understand the "jerks" comment - every time that I've been in there they have been nothing but friendly, helpful, and, dare I say bonhomous?

Re: “Charleston Beer Exchange

Ok, ok. After discussions with many about my review, maybe i overreacted. maybe i was the one having the bad day and i did the same thing that i myself complained about and took it out on an undeserving party. I am giving 4 stars to even out to a 2.5 star rating. Jerks was probably a little too strong and it's really only one person who has rubbed me the wrong way so it's not fair to group the entire store in that light. I will maintain that the level of service i have recieved on many occasions was disheartening. I will maintain that their selection is incredible. And let's be serious, I will still go to some of those beer dinners because the quality, menu, and value is exceptional. Also, i wish i had an alias on citypaper website and not my name...haha

Re: “Charleston Beer Exchange

Josh, are you serious? Please click these links and realize you're talking crazy talk, because ratings like this from visitors all over the country don't happen when people act like you're alleging they do. I've been going there for 3 years and have been treated excellently throughout my patronage, despite me being a relative beer newbie when I started shopping there. I have literally never, ever heard anyone with an opinion of CBX like yours. I'm very confused.

Hopturn - they have and do carry Holy City, just must not have been on tap when you visited?

Re: “Charleston Beer Exchange

Great selection but the guys that work there are jerks. if you're not in the beer industry they talk down to you like you're 18 with a fake id looking to get some old styles on the cheap. i refuse to participate in any event put on by these guys becuase of their attitude (besides brewvival). Good thing they're no longer the only game in town for rare beer

Re: “Charleston Beer Exchange

whatever dude. i love charleston beer exchange. the guys that work there are knowledgeable and friendly...extremely so. they will drop whatever they are doing to answer questions, and their draft beer growlers are a great value. only complaint is that they should already be carrying Holy City!

Re: “Queen Street Grocery & Café

I have been frequenting this place for about 2 years now and I just read the below review and could not believe my eyes! I think this place has totally changed for the better! The new owners Holly & Tom have always been friendly, they have a much larger selection of groceries and food. I am so thankful for the addition of the breakfast menu, its a daily stop for me! As for quality, everything I have ever eaten from this place has been so good!keep up the good work!

I agree. This place blows now. Plenty of other locals spots around, don't waste your money.

Re: “Queen Street Grocery & Café

This place really isn't the same anymore. I guess the old owners sold it and now it's just gone down hill with the new owners. My wife and I used to love going there for the crepes and sandwiches and relaxed atmosphere but the last few times we've been the new owners we're unfriendly, like they couldn't be bothered with us, and the food wasn't what it used to be. The prices had gone up considerably and the portions are much smaller. The sauce used for the my wife's Tenacious Turkey tasted like plain sour cream not the basil and honey dijon like it used to have and the amount of meats and cheeses in our food was far less than we were used to. Not to mention we paid $9 for a sandwich smaller than my palm and that was just for the sandwich. We were very disappointed, this place used to be a great hidden gem and now it's more like a cold tourist trap.

Re: “Bull Street Gourmet

This place is great. Service can be slow on a Saturday or Sunday morning when the staff may have been out a little late the night before, but the food is outstanding!

I heard a rumor that a 2nd Downtown location was in the works. Any truth to this??
