I don't know what some of these people are talking about. I think the food and service is great. My only problem is the price--I don't want to pay 22$ for two sammies and two drinks. Also my BF has celiac's disease, bring back the gluten-free options! The "hipster/punk" guy has always been helpful and respectful to me.
You have been a member for what a week. You obviously work at Brixx and take offense to my review of them back in July 2010. I did not register on here to self promote where I work as you obviously have. I have given honest reviews and unlike yours unbiased

ALEYEAST, 1st, I didn't call you an internet troll. Second, you are entitled to your opinion as is everyone else in the world. I was simply stating the fact that you never seem to have anything nice to say about anything. That's all. You're a beer geek... we get that. You seem to know loads about beer and wine. Good for you. It just seems that with all your negative comments, there must be at least 1 positive comment you could make.
And I have been in Bottles. And I agree with you, the wine selection is somewhat limited and the beer selection is pretty good. They're not trying to be another CBX. And neither is Total Wine. Each of these stores has their own niche, and I think they all do a pretty good job at filling that niche. I wasn't trying to insult you. Wow! Really a shame to see such a great spot go to hell and a handbasket so quick. You can't really pin that on anything other than new personnel. I lived around the corner from there a few years ago and it really felt like a special time and place. The owners were very involved with the neighboorhood and were always trying new things. Ahhhh for the glory days.
Just a side note: I'd rather have the old owner make my food with his feet than the angry hipster/punk rock guy. Hygiene man
whateverzzz & kma71- I am the internet troll? I do not blast other peoples opinions with no factual backup. I will gladly give you my email so you can contact me. When asked, I have given countless free advice to shop owners who unfortunately mostly ignore it. I gave them an honest review, they can act on it or not. They are in the honeymoon period of business, customers like myself will see them throuhg the long haul.
As a side note, I can pretty much guarantee I have dropped more cash in Bottles than the the two of you combined.
Wine selection appears to be improving, still annoyed at multiple placements, and would like to see some more wines laying down and better organized. Oh wait that's an opinion and that is apparently frowned upon in this forum.
@eastoak: I also grew up here, and have lived and traveled in other parts of this country as well as Mexico and Europe. Good customer service is universal, not regional. So is bad customer service.
Bottles is awesome! What a novel idea for a storefront in the Charleston area. Way to go!
"aleyeast" is the definition of an internet troll. Pay him/her no mind. He talks a good game in the comfort of his Internet world, but I doubt he has the balls to actually voice his "feedback" to the owners/managers he claims to be trying to help "make things better".

@jaxx: three stars because I don't go there for the service; I go there to pick up a snack or a coffee because I work nearby, and the quality of those items warrants three stars. My review is not based on service alone. To answer your "whatever the fuck that is" question: I grew up here but I have lived in and traveled around different areas of the country. I have found that customer service in the South tends to be more over the top nice. My point was that a place like Queen Street Grocery does not match the customer service norm around here, but that doesn't make it worth a one star rating.
I have been going here for a year now, mainly because of the Gluten Free Crepes that they started doing, which was amazing for me since I have a gluten intolerance. I moved down the street from the cafe this year and was so excited to be so close. To my surprise, they had changed the gluten free availability to only once a week on Fridays. I work 8-6 mon-fri, so this is not a possibility for my great Sat/Sun brunches that I used to love to go to. I also recently used a Groupon and was a little confused at my charges, and instead of explaining it the cashier explained nothing to me, kept staring blankly at me, didn't help me out at all, and honestly just made me feel bad. I haven't been back since, don't think I ever will.
I am glad you agree. It is you who commented on my post, not the other way around. I see this is a trend with you, very original.
My advice to you is to go in to Bottles, and give it an honest review. You never even reviewed it, just trashed other peoples opinion. I would be willing to bet my background knowledge of the subject is magnitudes away from yours.

Good service doesn't require "Southern sugar coated niceness", whatever the fuck that is. A little respect goes a long way.
Everything said by the two most recent reviewers is true: it takes forever to get your food, even if they aren't busy; the owner will carry on lengthy personal conversations while you are waiting; the people working there rarely know how much anything costs and it takes a while to pay. I think we have become so accustomed to super polite, fast, and cheap that any perceived inconvenience seems much bigger than it really is. Queen Street Grocery is not the place to go if you expect standard Southern sugar coated niceness, or if you are in a hurry, or if you want incredible food (the food is good, but don't expect to be blown away). Instead, if you go there, appreciate what it has to offer and accept it for what it is: a small, kind of quirky neighborhood corner store with crepes and coffee.
The last 2 times I've been there, the staff have been lackluster at best. It's close to where I work, but I've been scouting and trying other places since August. It's too expensive for what you get and the staff need several lessons in customer service or something. Or maybe better staff should be hired by management?
I didn't argue any of your points because I believe that you don't have the capacity to comprehend any comments against your point of view. Because after reading several of your comments, not just about Bottles, I have come to the conclusion that YOU are the most important person in your life. Carry on...
I went to Queen St. Grocery recently and had a terrible experience...as stated in previous posts, the owner was unfriendly and engaged in a 5-minute personal conversation with another worker while I stood at the counter, 2 feet from her, waiting to order. As I approached the counter for the 2nd time to purchase another drink, she did the same thing with a wine rep. Not apologetic or friendly at all when she finally decided to acknowledge my presence each time. Next, I was presented with the most bland hummus ever created...and a soggy crepe arrived 20 minutes later. The place wasn't busy at all and I left $20 poorer & very disappointed. Maybe I caught her on a bad day (she was complaining about commuting from Hilton Head), but I still won't be back.
I will just give them 5 stars like everyone else who has absolutely no clue does; will that make you happy.
I notice you don't argue any of my points, likely because you do not have the capacity to argue them.
My comments can be used by the owners however they wish. My hope is they use them to make things better.
I based my opinions on about six visits.

This is a mini total wine (some staff included).
Wine selection is fairly limited, Beer is probably a quarter of what CBX jams into their store, and about equal toi the better piggly wigglys. Lot of losers mixed in to the beer section; in about a year people will be cautioning you to watch dates on the beer. Liquor selection is good, but poorly organized.
I also hate placing the same item throughout the store, very annoying.
Staff is not at all educated in the products (this goes up to management)
Super excited about this great addition to Mount Pleasant. Really enjoyed the tasting last night. Silver Palm is a great wine and so glad I can now buy it in Charleston. Love all the choices. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. Plus the prices are great too!!
