Plum Elements never fails to thrill me.
Always something special, different and personally important there. Like no place else in Charleston or anywhere.
As so much of King Street goes chain (Thanks City Council/Development- for nothing) or messy/radical/young, Plum holds a singular place and vibration.

As good and as fun (and as offensive and as sexist -- as only Mel Brooks can get away with) as the Broadway show. The actors are all incredible (but 'Max', 'Bloom', 'Uma' and exceptionally funny 'Roger' deserve special note); the sets are eye candy. Never say that local talent cannot bring Broadway quality or class to our town. It's absolutely here in this show.

i LOVE this place! i love their food! the salads are really great an appropriate proportion for lunch or dinner. Perfect place for a group of friends to grab a bottle of wine and chat.

Hey this sounds like a cool show but I think the address is incorrect. Karson Photography Studio and Gallery is on 1050-B East Montague Ave. N. Chas. in the Old Village of Park Circle above Aunt B's restaurant.

Plum Elements is one of the most exciting shops in downtown Charleston! There is such an array of interesting items for the home; wonderful art and beautiful pottery in addition to jewelry and books and clever greeting cards. Whenever I need to find a unique gift for someone special I go there and am never disappointed. It's my favorite little gem of a store on King Street.

This is a fabulous place to visit and to browse. The gallery is the only one of its kind in the South, or perhaps in the US, we're told. It combines a retail gallery in the front, filled with nautical artifacts, includinig an old 1800's naval sextant, lots of brass items--ship's bells and ship lights which are in beautiful condition.
Bill Thomas-Moore is the charming host, model shipwright who is the expert on building and restorations. He also builds and repairs clocks, and creates one of a kind doll houses and other miniatures.
He told us stories about the ships and history around charleston harbor. We enjoyed seeing the exhibits of ship models, and the paintings. In the rear is Mr. Thomas-Moore's studio workshop. You can see all the various ship models in stages...newly built ones and restorations in progress.
Among the maritime "jewels" in the studio, are two eight foot tall model racing yachts on display with radio controlled units. They were scratch built by Andrew Charters, who races them around the world.
It's all fascinating, and there is a lot of history surrounding Cooper River harbor--SHIP SHAPES is definitely a charming, historical mini maritime museum. A must see for adults and children. Easy going--Drop by for a visit and chat with Mr. Bill.
Bill gives ship modeling lessons as well. He's a fine storyteller and host. Don't miss it when you're down at the harbor...This unusual gallery is next to the SC Aquarium at Fountain Walk next to the boat landing for Schooner Pride and the SpiritLine Cruises.
Be sure to take the "Schooner Pride" Sailing Cruise around the harbor while you're there. We did, and it was dreamy...not noisy, but an easy ride around the harbor.

I went to a show on saturday at sparks gallery. It is a realy cool little gallery. The opening was chill. The owner seems to be a nice guy that is open to local modern art. The work was pretty fresh. My friend jeremy is having a show there opening on may 3rd. Come check it out. His work is fresh. Support this space!!!

I am in Charleston twice a month and always visit this gallery. It is filled with great art... I was happy to see ASFA in City Paper..stopped by to view work of Stephen Fry as mentioned in your article. He is fabulous..Thanks for keeping your pulse on the Art scene City Paper. This restaurant was by far the best restaurant I have been to in years. Our waitress was lovely and the atmosphere couldn't have been more perfect. My husband and I enjoyed a delicious dinner, while remaining intimate, yet somewhat casual. You can turn the surroundings into whatever you want them to be, casual and fun, or elegant and sophisticated. The food was incredible and the wine too! Plus, we didn't even have to wait long at all on a Friday evening. AND, the prices are great for what you get... I strongly recommend Med Bistro to anyone.
