Re: Dock Street Theatre
Attend a play, in the comfortable, historical Dock Street Theatre, ... and treat yourself to a grand step back in time. This is my favorite theatre in the U.S. and I love sitting in the open air garden during intermission. Love this place and go to it each time in Charleston if I can. Sandy Tuttle
This is our most favorite art gallery not just in Charleston but in the US. The art collection is smart, interesting and something for everyone. The owner is so wonderful and have introduced us to so many fabulous pieces. I have my absolute most favorite pieces from this gallery. This is a must do!!!!
We never fail to visit this gallery when we come to Charleston. Reception is always warm and inviting, without pressure, and art pieces are beautifully presented. A wide selection of extraordinary work!
This is the most complete Gallery in Charleston. There are so many wonderful
receptions and meet the artist events to enjoy. Very customer Friendly.

Re: chapmanbates review
This is the thing that ticks me off about poor restaurant service especially when you've been in the food and bev. business for years. A salad which costs about $2.00 in ingredients to make can be comped easily at no loss to a restaurant with the hope someone sees this as an act of faith to get a costumer back in again, improve quality, and gain more business from rave reviews.
As far as I'm concerned I'll never go to this place. Hopefully the management will read these comments and improve things quickly or perhaps comment on the poor service and why it is this way.
Last weekend.... ate here but with:
poor service-a blonde waitress who was more interested in talking with guys at the bar than seating us/serving us. Food only mediocre...the guy singing as entertainment was SO loud we could not carry on a conversation at our table.
Finally, Miss Waitress brought the check...I was to get back a few dollars and change. She brought the dollars but not the change...too lazy to count out the coins and thinking SHE would be keeping the change as part of her tip?
She did NOT get a grand tip from me, far from it.
Last time here.
For the last few years I have been aware that almost all of the food I have ordered here was mediocre with the occasional above average dish. Which I have been fine with me because for some reason I have always wanted to support Med Bistro and before that Med Deli, when the food was good. However, last Sunday my experience went beyond bad and I have to comment on it. I ordered a the pecan chicken salad and when it arrived it was truly one of the worst salads I have ever had. Extremely tasteless and bland and by the time the server asked how it was, I had no appetite any longer. I told her how bad it was and she asked if there was anything else she could bring me and I told her no. She took my plate with only @ 10% of it eaten and that was that or so I thought. When the bill came the salad was still on it... No manager came by to see why I had sent the meal back or for a discussion and there were only @ 6 tables at the time we were served. So I paid for it and on the bottom I said that I will never be back and I won't. When I said to the waitress that I was shocked that I was charged for such a bad meal she told me that she had asked the manager to remove it from the bill and was told no. Now, I was in food and beverage for 10 years and have never seen anything like this. I guess it goes to show that even the managers and owners have decided that bad food it too bad for the customer that ordered it. I will never be returning and I encourage all people reading this to stop bland food and stop supporting resturants that no longer seem to care about their customers or what kind of quality comes out of their kitchen. Thank you.
We were here with four grandkids. It was absolute proof that someone out there knew how kids played! We travel a lot and get to see many children's museums. This one was so interactive. The kids played at each center until they were dragged away, only to find delight in the next activity. GOOD JOB designers!
Sailing on the high seas takes a dedicated and seasoned sailor. Thank you to the crew and her captain for bringing her to Charleston.
LOVED PURE Theatre's Waffle Haus Christmas! Run, don't walk, and see it before the play closes!
this place is in a bad location safety-wise.
The former "movie house" was built in the 40's, when there weren't so many six footers
This is a great "little" theater to see a show. Only 240 seats (stadium style seating) means that there isn't a bad seat in the house. The seats are also assigned and you can select seats online or by phone. The show choices are good, the acting is also good. (This is community theater, so it's not Broadway, but still good to great performances depending on the show.)
The pluses, good seating, nice folks, good acting and free soda at intermission! wow, who does free anything anymore? Tickets are reasonable also.
The minuses, well, it's not Broadway quality, but this is rural South Carolina. That also means the shows selected are not going to be too far outside the "blue hair brigade's" realm of what is allowed. Rocky Horror is a stretch and kudos to the people running the theater for allowing something outside the ordinary.
Really there aren't too many negatives. The theater is run professionally and the lights and sound system are above average. Any show done at Flowertown is at the mercy of who shows up to audition, but the shows are generally above average in quality. The theater is clean, the seats are comfortable and the shows deliver.
Plenty of parking as well, so compared to Charleston, the show is the only cost. It's worth the drive to Summerville.
Now, as to my review (4 Stars) that is a comparison to community theater as a whole. I've been to a few theaters up and down the east coast and Flowertown is as good or better than most of them.
I Have been an artist for 51 years. I met Robert Lang 3 years ago and have been impressed with him, his work and agree he has one of best gallerie's in South Carolina if not one of the best in the entire Southeast. I'm opening a Gallery in downtown Charleston with my business partner and his wife. We agree that Robert Lang will continue to grow and be one of the finest artists in the Country. Cudo's to Robert and his wife. Terry Richard
They transform the entire gallery every month for a new show that is full of exciting, contemporary art. The artists are inventive, contemporary artists ranging from traditionally trained artists to photographers to pop-artists. A great contemporary art gallery in Charleston!
Beautiful landscapes, if you are into landscapes I have run into a spectacular local artist, Kellie Jacobs at Hamlet Fine Art Gallery at 7 Broad Street Charleston. Check out her work for the most sublime pastels and gorgeous oils depicting lowcountry landscapes, marsh scenes and beach scenes. you have to see her work!
One of Charleston's best kept secrets!
