Been twice, impressed both times. Had French toast at 11pm with a "Dark & Stormy" cocktail. The French toast was excellent with the sorghum syrup and $2 optional strawberries and bananas. The Dark & Stormy was tasty, but I wouldn't get another one for the $9 they charge for it. I came back later for lunch. Tried the chicken and waffle plate. The chicken was really, really damn good. The waffle was ok. Service was good both times.
I'm usually a downtown guy, but I live in Summerville. I've always been skeptical of going to bars in my own area but I decided to give Montreax a try this past Friday night. I was surprised about how normal and young the clientele was, similar to being at a bar downtown. Had a few drinks which weren't expensive at all and had a great time with my friends. Definitely checking it out again.
We've been there twice and found the service to be both friendly and attentive. The decor is really striking and I enjoy it. Their brunch benedict and chocolate french toast dishes were superb. The sausage sandwich is good but only if you like State Fair-level greasy. The bbq meatloaf sandwich is just as good as it sounds. The fried fish sandwich was a bit dry.
All in all, it is our current "go to" lunch spot for Sam Rittenburg-area shopping trips.
Loved the comedy night. Great crowd, fun times and lots of variety!
My wife and I have been to this place 3 times in the last 6 weeks. The food was really good. The prices for downtown cannot be beat for the amount of food you get. The only problem we have had is with getting the waitress to refill the water glass. In the 3 visits we made they never refilled the glasses. I will continue to visit this restaurant for the food and hope I can get the waitress to step up the level of service.
We loved the Early Bird Diner before it ever appeared on any Dive show. What I love is how the service and food has stayed the same despite the lines that now plague the sidewalk in the morning. We've come to discover however that Wintertime is a great time to come back to the Bird since the lines are diminished now that tourists have flocked back home. For us the chicken and waffles and Curry Breakfast Eggs are all time faves. Their taters, biscuits and red pepper jelly are also delicious. Its easy to see that love goes into every bite and this stuff truly is made fresh and with some clever twists. We love the specials too when the mood hits, but its hard to steer us away from those mainstays. The special ice cream flavors are so good that we sometimes get ice cream at brunch! And for folks that think the Early Bird opens early...oh my...it does not. Check the weekend times and then head on over. Early Bird is only a name and not a time indicator of when service starts..but when it does, we are always pleased and never disappointed.
First things first: this is a BAR with a menu, a sports bar more specifically. Nothing wrong with that, but I somehow missed that when choosing a meet-up place for my family and parents. And evidently they didn't offer us any of their drugs. Rip-off! ;-) Just kidding.
That being said, the waitress was very friendly, it wasn't loud, it is smoke free (yay, Charleston!) and the food (while slow because we were the only ones eating) was very good and very reasonable. Fish Po' Boy, Lobster Roll, Cheese steak and the Pepperoni Rolls were all super tasty. A definite winner for a casual sports bar.
Great specialty burgers prepared with quality beef are the main attraction. The wide and creative selection of toppings makes up for minimal seasoning used in the nice, thick cooked-to-order patties. Table service during a recent luchtime visit was excellent, very attentive, and as an added bonus - extremely attractive. Comfortable interior decor and bar layout with some inviting outside tables for fair weather days. Hand cut fries were a little soggy and only lukewarm, otherwise Pawley's would receive all 5 stars. So many neighborhood bar and grills in Mount Pleasant totally miss the very basics of proper service, good food, cold beer, and a friendly atmosphere, but Pawley's is an example of how things should be done.
Good, simple food in a diner atmosphere. No frills and has the decor of a late 70's Dennys. But the food is Okay, and interesting menu items, like alligator with grits. If you go on weekend mornings, you will see nothing but locals, lots of handshakes, old blue hairs and the southern church crowd. It is a step back in time.
I am interested in attending Saturday evening 8/4/2012 'cause of their entertainment and to try something from the menu: 'THE STUD FARM' with guitarist Jeff Bateman(if he is still in this band) and who's a really great musician.
I have been to the bar and will return again tonight for the second time. I loved it and am looking forward to another great night!
Really good fully loaded burgers. Great shoestring fries. Terrific veggie burrito. Neat neighborhood joint. Big promoters of the Lowcountry High Rollers.
I've always been a fan of Page's. Good southern cooking at a reasonable price. I've only had minor problems with the service, but it had more to do with staffing than anything else (1 server for 10 or so parties is a tad unreasonable in my opinion). The food is excellent, and I really loved their German nights a couple of months ago. It's just high quality local stuff, and they do run out of the good stuff quick, so you are best advised to come early. I hate the parking lot (there are more ruts and holes leading up to it than I could ever imagine), but the location is convenient in Mount Pleasant and generally there isn't a line to get in the place.
I've been there three times. Had the veggie burger, chicken sandwich, and chicken and waffles. Everything was pretty good. What I really loved were the red velvet cupcakes.
Salsa nite has been discontinued on saturdays for months now, why is this still not updated. I've never tried the restaurant, this is not a review of the restaurant. Salsa nite used to be awesome but last I heard, it was moved elsewhere.
Exposed brick w/hardwood floors throughout.... live music & plasma tv's ......good heavy bar food thats well priced. hmmmmm summerville needed this place bad
hi the world is negative enough.......when you find a good -kind place to be your hang out and its run well dont listen to anyone else. im older and not your average person but im a free spirit and this neighborhood watering hole is great. prices are right and quality is certainly there.i am an amputee and the staff makes me feel at home and respected as a person. Where else can the bartender always hit your drink and smile. Thanks Kristen.YOU HAVE A FAN IN ME AND I COME FROM MT.P.
Terrific and broad draught selection, very tasteful decor, prompt and attentive service, excellently chosen ambient music, and awesome bread pudding. I look forward to a more in-depth menu exploration. Until then, a fine after-hours watering hole!
This is one of those cozy places that the locals love. Great diner-type atmosphere, with some seriously good southern comfort food. The fried chicken is to die for! It's not a fancy, romantic kind of restaurant, but, if a friendly, clean and delicious casual experience is what you're seeking, this is it.
