Actually, it has three bars. The third is the only dock bar on Shem Creek (as in, it's built on pilings over the creek).
This place has been in business in 1982. The food is good, including the steaks, but service can be a inconsistent.
absolutely beautiful food and well prepared my only caveat is a little salty but i got everything fried so thats probably my problem.
Amazing views. I've only been once and had the shrimp and grits, but will definitely be back.
I must admit, this afternoon at Leon's, was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon. We sat at your oyster bar, and made me feel like I was at Acme's or Felix's oyster bar. The best part was we we're here in our own home of Charleston,
eating select oysters from Light House point I believe from Va. They were outstanding and sipping on a original Coors Banquet draft. Your entire wait staff made our dining experience even more pleasurable. I believe his name was Tom, great job by him, and your new bar keeper.
We ate a half dozen of the oysters, which were spot on, and we both had the 2 piece fried chicken, the best I've ever had, along with the Cauliflower soup, which will have me coming back for another bowl.
Well worth the visit. Some of the best oysters I've had in a long time.
So glad the prices come down on the garlic crabs now that they're in abundance.....also have fresh local shrimp and they are good...nothing like fresh seafood from our coast....the garlic crabs can be messy but are great and enjoyed them very much....
We were visiting Charleston so I took my boyfriend there for Father's Day. I'm from Charleston and it is one of my favorite spot. It was his first time there but he enjoyed everything. We both had the seafood platter and YES the scallops were the best. We look forward to visiting again soon with other family and friends.
Restaurant Week has won again! We went to Blossom Sunday night for the special menu and, in addition, tried the gnocchi. The food was delicious and our service was excellent. Thanks Rick, and Blossom for a wonderful dining experience!
Good food and service. Apparently we have gone to the wrong restaurants before now because we found Charleston to be lacking good restaurants ....way too much fried food but Hanks delivered. Thanks!!!
Have not been to RB's much since it was supersized to a three level monstrosity on "The Creek", but met some friends on top last Saturday and I must say the experience was very pleasurable. I was somewhat concerned about the food quality based on previous visits, but something has definitely changed for the better because the entrées passing by our seats at the bar looked, smelled, and likely tasted spectacular. While my party did not order any main dishes from the dinner menu, the selections we did sample were definitely fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The blackened salmon Caesar salad was so much better than any other similar one in this town with a large portion of nicely seasoned fish, soft-leafy spinach, and real Caesar dressing it could easily be enjoyed independently as a satisfying meal. The fried onion rings are lightly battered to perfection and extremely addictive. I mention this because I am not a big fan of onion rings and for the most part avoid them entirely. Other samplers were equally well prepared with fresh ingredients and served at the correct temperatures. The place was busier than normal possibly due to some large wedding, prom night, and private parties yet the service did not seem to suffer. How the lone bartender was able to handle the constant waves of patrons and remain as friendly and accommodating as she was is beyond me. Other “so called” bartenders in Mount Pleasant and downtown Charleston could learn much from this young lady. Everyone in my group, some of whom were from out of town, really had a great night on Shem Creek and that is not so easy to accomplish anymore. True, the “overkill” parking lot signage needs to go and the nautical theme is a bit over the top, but Ronnie Boal’s seafood palace beside the shrimp docks is providing quality local waterfront dining and, like the man himself, will still be there in one form or another when the rest go down with the ship.
I've lived here for 15 years and my partner is a native Charlestonian. Despite what the review previous to mine says, locals *do* eat at The Wreck because, for what it is, The Wreck is excellent. It's not FIG or McCrady's, but it is impeccably fresh seafood prepared well and served in an unpretentious environment.
Yeah the owner is a grumpy old man until you get to know him, and nearly all the staff are his relatives. They do their own thing and will not cater to you. That's part of the charm. If it's not your style, don't go. But if you do go, don't bitch about it because you have been warned.
We visited on a busy Friday night and the restaurant was packed. Luckily for us there was space at the community table and we were seated right away. Seeing the crowd I figured service would be slow, but I was wrong.
Our server was very attentive and cocktails and waters were provided almost immediately. The food came out quickly as well.
The atmosphere was great, my only reason for removing a star is that I found the tuna and mahi tacos to be quite bland. Still the rest of the meal was pretty good and the service was outstanding.
We will be returning
There is a new chef in the kitchen and for fans of now defunct Coco's Cafe in Mt. P, you'll recognize him right away. Yup. I can't wait for him to add his own spin to the menu.
We had a group of 7 down at Blossom last weekend and were pleasantly surprised with the meal. It had been a year or two since the last time we were there and felt that the restaurant and the menu were slightly dated and had not returned since that time. The menu, while manageable in size, still included enough variety to satisfy the 11 year old to 78 year old diners in our group.
The appetizers of oysters, calamari and spinach/artichoke dip were tasty and adequate in portion size to share for the table. The main dishes ranged from Shrimp to Pizza to Gnocchi and all were created with obvious care and consideration of subtle variations in taste.
The waiters and staff were knowledgable and attentive even in a very crowded and busy setting.
All in all; a very nice evening out.
The cabana bar is a great place for enjoying a cold beer or nice glass of wine. I really enjoy the atmosphere, the staff, and the food. They have recently started half-priced appetizers during happy hour which allows me to get my favorites like mussels, crab bruschetta, and oysters without breaking the bank.
Four words: soft-shell crab sandwich.

I have been to this place on numerous occasions (both for lunch & dinner) and I have had always a great expeience. The food has been great and the servers pleasant, even when the place was hoppin'! The chilled grilled flank steak salad, at $13, is worth every penny!!
