Re: “Ted's Butcherblock

Ted's is off the meat rack. Excellent offerings from the butcher counter along with wines and cheeses. A sandwich never disappoints but am looking forward to a dinner there soon.

Re: “Accent on Wine

A very welcome addition to downtown summerville, definitely something different, and delicious!

Re: “goat. sheep. cow

Its a great little place, great selection of cheese and meats but the prices will have you heading for the door.

If you love cheese and have got some cash burning in your pocket though, I can't think of a better place in town.

Re: “Bull Street Gourmet

This place is great. Service can be slow on a Saturday or Sunday morning when the staff may have been out a little late the night before, but the food is outstanding!

I heard a rumor that a 2nd Downtown location was in the works. Any truth to this??

Re: “Bull Street Gourmet

Bull Street Gourmet, eh? More like Bull Sh%* Gourmet. Sad to say this place has really declined in credibility. Recently ordered a bagel sandwich and was given a BLACK bagel. Completely burnt. The staff is so rude, also clearly they do not pay attention to what they are serving.
In addition, they advertise that they use H&H Bagels. H&H Bagels are New York bagels. When I ordered a bagel, I watched the clerk grab my bagel from a Kirkland / CostCo bag.
Not only do they serve you burnt food, but they lie about where the food comes from.
Get it together, B.S.G. Bring back what used to be good.

Re: “Avondale Wine and Cheese

Meh. Overpriced bottles. Overpriced cheeses. Pretentious service.

Re: “Ted's Butcherblock

For a measly $12, Friday night dinner at Ted's is probably the best dinner you'll have on the peninsula in that price range.

Re: “Avondale Wine and Cheese

I so enjoyed the Wine and Cheese Tasting at Avondale Wine and Cheese Shop. So unique. What a treat. They knew how to mix the cheese and wine.
Hope to go back next visit.

Re: “Ted's Butcherblock

Ted's rules. I've been going here for years and even when I was a student, and they knew it, they still treated me like a real person. They always make an effort to have affordable bottles of wine featured at their tastings. Their food is fresh and well prepared and Ted is cool. A friend and I were out at Poe's in the middle of the day once and so was he. He recognized us from coming into the shop and, even though he was sitting at the 'outside' bar and we were inside, he bought us some drinks (delicious Delirium Tremens, actually).

Re: “Ted's Butcherblock

Downtown.
Stopped in recently for a sandwich. Ordered the Italian w/ hot cappacola.
Usually when ordering a sandwich I expect to be disappointed, but not the case here.
Everything was tasty with a good amount of meat and cheese, the greens fresh...simply a very good sandwich. If they made hoagies/subs or if they remain consistent, I will upgrade to 5 stars. Thanks for the good service Ted. Keep it up.

Most definately recommended!!!

Re: “Ted's Butcherblock

Ted's is know for incredible sandwiches and prepared foods, but don't forget about their butcher counter offerings! There's nowhere else downtown - and very few places in Charleston - where you can get the quality beef, all-natural chicken, pork and more that Ted's offers. Plus they make their own pancetta, roast beef and sausage and smoke their own salmon & ribs on the Big Green Egg that sits out in front of the shop. A great locally owned establishment for foodies!

Re: “Bull Street Gourmet

I love Bull Street Gourmet. It is a great corner store where you can pick up a coffee or delicious, moderately priced lunch. The wine selection is very nice and Justin, the owner, is very knowledgeable. If I lived closer it would be my daily hangout.

Unique deli with quality produce and fresh ingredients everyday. Also carry hard to find groceries.

Re: “Avondale Wine and Cheese

I try to go to AW&C at least once a week. Manoli is so helpful in teaching me about both wine and cheese. The people that shop there are great too. Least pretentious wine store ever. I stoped in around lunch time one day and was treated to a feast of leftovers from Italian night along with an exceptional glass of wine. Wonderful store.

Re: “Avondale Wine and Cheese

Manoli has tapped into something great with her store: nothing less than the rebirth of good local shopping. When was the last time you went to Total Wine and ran a few neighbors and friends and your shopping trip morphed into conversation, drinks, and a small feast prepared by the owner? Really? Never? Even if you're not in the mood to spend a couple of hours there, Manoli's store is within easy walking or biking distance of thousands of homes. If you pared a big grocery store's selection of wines and cheeses down past the Krafts and the Yellowtails, you'd find Manoli's selection to be larger and more diverse- quite a feat for such a small, tidy place. When that new Harris Teeter goes up next year, I dare you to introduce yourself to the wine or cheese dept manager(s). Ask if they'll make you up a special gift basket or bring in some real camembert. See if they'll pour you a taste of their new favorite or offer to whip out a quick arrugula salad with lemon and octopus. Then, if you haven't already, go visit Manoli's little store. I'm sure you'll be as pleased as I have been.
