Great little place and an extensive drink list. We sat in the front toward the door so it was hard to hear what kind of music they were playing, if any. That would be my only suggestion for them--get a better sound system and/or bring in some live fun music. Even better if you could open the doors to the patio out front. We'll be coming back for sure!
do not miss this joint
Drinks are absolutely fantastic and the staff is very friendly and knowleadgable. The drinks are more expensive than your average establishment, but they are worth it.
Perfect place to have a few pre-drinks or grab some late night snacks. The chocolate pie with pop rocks (yes, pop rocks) is heaven on a plate.
Nostalgic atmosphere, stout drinks, & great service....I'd certainly give them 5 stars!
I frequent Charleston, SC to meet clients and always end our evenings with an after dinner cocktail at Club Habana. It has served me well for business as my clients love the place and seem to relax in the laid back, cool atmosphere. The drinks are made fresh and they make their own simple syrup, which I have been told is the key to every good mojito. Club Habana makes the best mojitos in the Southeast!
The Thoroughbred Club is the finest lounge that Charleston has to offer.
The staff is welcoming and professional as well as very personal and friendly.
Mouzon is a master bartender and his knowledge of what he serves is impressive.
Top marks to everyone at The Thoroughbred Club!
Club Habana is a very unique spot in Charleston. It has a very intimate atmosphere that is unlike any other bar downtown (except maybe upper deck). One feels if they are in a living room, with comfortable couches and chairs spread throughout the 2nd floor. The bartenders are fantastic, the remember your drink orders and are very friendly.
HOWEVER if you are a non-smoker you might not enjoy Club Habana. The cigarette and cigar smoke is very thick, to the point where ones eyes are so irritated by the smoke they may start watering upon entering. You clothes WILL stink like smoke after visiting. This bar is a real throwback to three years ago when every bar downtown was filled with smoke and it really makes one appreciate the fact Charleston's bars are smoke free.
I went there with my boyfriend. I thought the place was great. They have a pretty good selection of cigars and the atmosphere of the bar was relaxing. It had like a Jazzing feeling. The bartender was very nice and she remember us even though the place was full. I really enjoyed their selection of wines and martini's. Their appetizers were really good. I was at Charleston for 4 days and went to there 3 times couldn't stay away;^)
Pretty cool place, visited with the b-friend on a Saturday night after dinner at Fleet Landing. More folks arrived the later it got, but we had a couch/room to ourselves for quite a while. Friendly staff, but kind of pricey (6 liquor drinks & tip ~ $50). But still a swanky, cool kind of place.
Squeeze is the best bar downtown...fun, unpretentious, and you can meet the famous Captain. The bartenders are amazing...the music is great...and the bathrooms are the best in the city. We love it!

Can't say so much for the sideways crab crawl you have to do to make it through the bar (hence the cutesy bar name), or the cheesy color-changing lights behind the bar (oooh...ahhh!), but I will say that the bathrooms are absolutely, amazingly,5-star hotel quality, which you never see in any bar downtown! "Squeeze" in there to the bathrooms at the back & see for yourself!
There is NO better place in Charleston to kick back and relax. Awesome wines, great scotch and bourbon selection, and my girlfriends love their martinis. Justin (Manager? Owner?) goes above and beyond to make your experience the best possible. Plus, he's pretty cute for a skinny guy!
The Rooftop was approved by the city to stay open until 12:00 a.m. now.
Thanks for straightening this issue out.
From the guy who runs the show here at the Roof. We were zoned as a Limited Business-which means our hours can only be 7am-11pm. When there was previous mgt they decided to throw that out of the window. The great city of Chas and its leaders kindly informed new mgt of the zoning issue. Thus we have complied. We just need to be where you begin your nights on the town vs the place you end your nights.
That's wrong. Rooftop was open until at least 1:30, at least during the weekends, throughout the summer I know for a fact.
They have never stayed open until 2am because of the noise ordinance in place in that part of downtown.
Is it true that Rooftop is only open until 11pm now? What happened to being a regular bar open until 2 (give or take)? Anyone got any idea?
I'm not exagerating when I say this is the best bar I've seen in the city. Though I am a regular at several other bars, club habana blew me away with their amazing staff, and selection. The only negative is the price, which is a big thing for a college student like me. But for my 22nd birthday, which is today, the truely classy experience cannot be beat. Thank you so much.
I love this place. Although you pay a little more for a drink here than you do other places in town, and yes, there is a dress code, the atmosphere, staff and extensive wine and martini list (not to mention it's the only place in Charleston where you can enjoy a tobacco product with your drink) more than make up for it. My suggestion: Pick up a cigar at the Tinder Box downstairs, go up to Club Habana and try a martini you've never had before. Or if you smoke and want to have a cigarette with your drink, then you should go there sometime, too. You'll probably go back often!
