My favorite burger place in town! Go for the "Spicy Southerner" YUM
Great food, great service and huge portions!
Consistenly good burgers and every topping you could imagine using Meyers Farm fresh ground beef (had to ask my gf what the name of the farm was). Been going there for the better part of 2 years. Ask them about the legendary beer dinners. Amazing beer selection that is always revolving. Awesome staff.
Don't let the name fool you! While they do have big, juicy, delicious burgers; they also have AMAZING & HUGE build your own salads. They have something for everyone!
I've gone three times in the past two weeks and every time I've left incredibly satisfied.
I will never eat another burger from five guys ever again after eating this. Keep up the good work.
This place is awesome!!! Check it out , and grab some delicious wine, too. They have it all.
Just what upper Mt. P needs! I've managed to eat there four times since they opened last month and loved it all. My favorite is the Salmon Burger, literally one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The Portobella burger is great, and yes the made-from-cow ones hit the spot, too. Flavorful, attractive salads with great dressing. With Wine Awhile as their wine and craft beer cellar, the beverage base is totally covered.
I Had lunch there today. The duck confit burger rivaled the taste of meals I've paid 3 times as much for at more "reputable" joints around town. It was an utterly satisfying meal, not to mention the fact that half price burgers are offered every weekday from 4 to 7. And the pickles...on my lord the pickles! Big Gun just replaced my go to Tuesday night burger shop. Way to go!. Parking was ample.
Don't know what you're talking about yumyum. You work/own one of the other burger shops in town? Talk about a big waste of money. I've never been able to fill up at burger babies for less than $15.
The burgers at HoM are amazing! Made with sirloin, short rib, and brisket meat, and you're just making claims it's frozen? Unique menu, fries, onion rings are delicious.
24 oz of Genese Cream Ale for $4.50. You could walk next door to Midtown or some other college frat bar and pay that for a Miller Lite bottle or some other weak domestic. Plus HoM has a much better selection.
Not saying you couldn't find a cheaper meal elsewhere, but whenever I'm at a restaurant thinking about having their burger, I consider that I'll just get one at HoM at some point during the week.
I've found it to be a great new spot to eat and love playing ping pong. Much more unique than just another sports bar, with nothing to offer in food and beer selections. And I'm NOT some owner or staff at HoM trying to post a review like yumyum to help their own cause. Worst place in town? Gimme a break... I like burgers from Moe's, Rue de Jean, and HoM. Those are the best in town. Pretty much every burger place is "ok" ... Not gonna pay $4 for a slider.
I don't understand how you can compare this place to McDonalds. Do you work for Grindz or King Street Grill? Maybe you're a sports bar/strip mall kind of person, but wishing failure on this restaurant is just mean. Big Gun isn't just a burger/fries joint. They have a lot of unique menu items--standards with a twist. Jut take a look at the other city paper article with all the pictures. Everything I've had tastes fresh and delicious. If you want your burgers cheap and greasy, go somewhere else.
I ate lunch at Big Gun today, and it was incredible. Started with the fried (not battered) brussel sprouts and they were a delicious, crispy surprise. I had the catfish po-boy. It was dressed with quick fried, crispy greens and the combination of flavors and textures was perfect. Possible the best fried fish sandwich I've ever had. Seriously. My husband had the chorizo sandwich and it was great, too. No complaints about the bread. Great fries. Friendly service. I cannot wait to try other menu items, and I really hope this place makes it. Go there!!
Best Burger in Charleston. Seasame and Triangle have nothing on Grindz.
love the west ashley location! the BEST burger in town, good service, fun times!
Innovative, fresh tasting burgers with incredible side options. Not your run-of-the mill Burgers and Fries.. unless of course that's what you want!
Great place, good atmosphere. Always a good time!
A Hidden Gem.
I heard about this place on Restaurant.com. I've probably driven past this place a million times and never even noticed it.
Pros: Eclectic menu, delicious homemade salad dressings, ketchup and mustard. Food looks, smells, and tastes fresh. A great place for Vegetarians, I recommend the Black Bean sliders (you can choose from a variety of mouth watering toppings). Their salads rock..who would ever think a salad could taste so good! Staff are always friendly, kind, welcoming, and pleasant.
Cons: A little dark in the restaurant...other than that-Nothing.
Will definitely return and recommend to friends!
I can't understand why anyone wouldn't love this place. Lunch today - split two excellent burgers with a friend (The General Lee and the Bramboozled) and they were OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD. The prices were great, our service was fantastic (Caroline) and the taste and portions of the food were fabulous. Love, love, loved it.
Re: “HoM”
It would appear all of these reviews were written awhile ago right within the first few months of opening. I have to say Hom is now my favorite burger place in town. Not only that, it is now rocking the best brunch in Charleston. The burgers may seem smaller than average but they are packed with great ingredients that are rich in flavor and super filling. For those who shy away from beef, they offer a whole range of veggie options and an skewer of mini chicken sammies. They have the best shoestring fries and their smoked onion remoulade is orgasmic.
Their brunch includes burger benedicts and duck hash but by far the best dish is their Fried Chicken BLT. Served on Texas toast with fried chicken thigh, its the most delicious chicken sandwich in town.
