Great food! But service is lacking in terms of wait time. If 4 or more people are in the restaurant at any given time, expect a 15-20 minute wait to get your food!
just okay.
I went this morning and got a cinnamon-raisin bagel with plain cream cheese and a small coffee. It was $5. The bagel was smaller than normal. The bagel wasn't very flavorful and there was enough cream cheese for 3 people on it. I had to wipe most of it off. The coffee was good, definitely comparable to other coffee shops around- although not anywhere near Modica's standards. (ok, so I'm still bummed that Modica closed). Overall, nothing wowed me, and I'm not sure if it's worth the money.
My wife and I went to the Bagel Shop this morning to give it a whirl in hopes of a good bagel place downtown. Having to drive over the connector to James Island is inconvenient sometimes. Here is my review: Bagels were just okay. The everything bagel didn't have much "everything" on it and my wife's sesame bagel didn't have 1 sesame seed on it, which I found to be odd. There cream cheese selection is outstanding and is definately homemade. This made up for the okay bagels. Now on to the service/ordering part...it was completly unorganized. I think the shape of the store has something to do with it. I had no idea where to order and there were not any menus visable. However one of the employee's saw that I looked confused and helped me out with the menu and took my order. The guy next to me got skipped by 4 or 5 customers behind him and seemed confused as well. My order came out fairly quick so I was off. I wish I had tasted my coffee before I left becasue it was luke warm. Coffee needs to be piping hot...not warm.
Overall, the bagels are better than any other bagel downtown, but not as good as Bagel Nation (or whatever its called now) on James Island. I'll give them an exception on the service since they just opened and hopefully will work out that kink.
The food is good, but for the price, one would expect more! The food is overpriced. Paying over $10 for a salad bar, regardless of what is on it, is absurd.
I agree with the previous submitter, service is an issue. The ordering process is awkward and the menu doesn't offer many good values (omelette with toast $6-7?).
Went to Mozzo for lunch at 1:15 on Tuesday. It was packed still. There are so many options written on the chalk boards that its confusing what to order. I stuck with their version of the itallian sandwich. My wife got a turkey and brie sandwich. I got my sandwich back very quickly, however my wife's sandwich was missing. I had already paid for lunch, which was a very reasonable price and still no sighn of her sandwich. I finally asked and I guess they forgot to make it, so they rushed and made it for her. We got it to go, and when we got home to eat, her sandwich was missing the brie and the rasberry jam...so she got a turkey sandwich with cheese and lettuce instead. Big let down. They should change the way you make your order there. As a customer, I was very confused and the girl who took our order seemed confused as well. She did not write anythign down, which probably contributed to them forgetting my wife's order. The quality of the meats and cheese is very good. I will go back very soon and recomend it if you like a true northern style deli. I would have given it 4 stars if the service was a bit better and our order was correct. Sharpen up the service and you guys will do great.
No one yet can beat phillys in summerville for the cheesesteak.A chain store just can't do it. There subs are the best of any chain.I had ghood service there too.
Re: “Groucho's Deli”
I used to love Groucho's but I just went through the drive thru and ordered a white moose with extra sauce (which I didn't get)and a sweet tea. This cost me $10. The whole way home, all I could think about was that I feel ripped off. I can get a gourmet sandwich at Ted's Butcher block for the same price.. with Mac & Cheese!
