Re: “Macaroon Boutique

I have been here many times but today will be the last. Apparently the chef was late and having a bad day so the opening time was not as posted on the door. A verbal attack with profanity by a hysterical chef rather than an explanation is not the way to ensure a repeat customer.

Re: “Taco Boy

Wow! I ordered a shrimp PLATTER ($14) and got 8 barely-quarter-sized shrimp that made just 2 tacos with the provided tortillas. That's 2 tacos at $7 each. (For those of you who think that's a deal, I've got a bridge to sell you.) I don't know of these are locally-sourced shrimp or not, but if they are, I didn't expect to be the only person paying for the shrimper to make his living — or maybe it's that Taco Boy doesn't feel the need to make their takeout orders worth it and have their customers return. I'll certainly never go there (or take out) again. [Footnote: I also got rice and black beans with the platter; however, flavor must have been an upgrade option on the menu that I missed seeing when ordering.]

Re: “Tasty Thai & Sushi

My partner and I went to Tasty Thai last Fall and had a wonderful time. The service was a tad slow but not inattentive and the food was surprisingly good. We picked up a Restaurant.com gift certificate and headed there on 2/22/11. I'm sorry we did. The food was missing key ingredients, the service was a schizophrenic blend of apathetic and combative, the prices far too high, and the music much, much too loud.

Re: “Eurasia Café and Wine Bar

Ate there this weekend and was soooo disappointed. To start, the waitress was obnoxious. The food was completely mediocre. We will not go back or recommend to friends.

Re: “Hatchell's American Tapas Tavern

Cold and dark atmosphere. Waitress was extremely slow and barely paid attention to us. Overall the food was very disappointing. Will not return or recommend to friends.

Re: “Blind Tiger

I recently went to the blind tiger, and had a terrible experience. I actually felt quite unwelcome there. I am a single female, and I go out to eat dinner alone often. I used to own 2 restaurants several years ago, where I served made from scratch pierogies. I was excited to see they had them and decided right away to order them and see what they do with them. I watched as the chef took the pierogies and threw them in a deep fryer, I was already disappointed, I knew that destroys the delicate nature of them. I presumed they were store bought (machine made) which is ok if they are served properly. When he brought them up from the deep fryer, he piled about a cup of crumbled bacon in the middle of them... (I don't eat bacon) but I had never seen bacon served on pierogies. The traditional way to serve them if you don't have a gravy or sauce, is "lightly sauteed, with sauteed onion and topped with sourcream.
When he was finished he put the plate up and it sat getting cold while the female bartender was flirting and talking to various men at the bar, until I interrupted her to request my food and another beer which had been empty for awhile. She gave me the food but no silver wear, so I had to ask for that, then I scraped away all the bacon and asked for sourcream, she said she didn't have any and she didn't ask the chef or ask me anything further about my food. She never approached me again until I had to ask for my check, it was clear I wasnt going to be served here. She proceeded to serve a couple more people and talk some more until I insisted that she get my check, I was the only female at the bar, and I couldnt help but say, I hate when female bartenders hate on female customers, which was clear since everyone else seemed to get excellent service. I told her so, and left without tipping, (first time I ever did that) I had told her, I wanted to talk to the chef and give him a suggestion on how to serve the pierogies traditionally from a person who has made them for 30 years, it seems he would have wanted to hear it, but he refused to be friendly as well. Boo on people who ignore someone because they think they will not be tipped properly, I always tip good service as if I were two people, and I come back. I will not go back in there, but thought seriously about writing to the owner, since I do have restaurants who want me to sell my pierogies to them for their restaurants! But no, 0 stars for service and food

Re: “Blind Tiger

Food is not what it used to be! We have been coming here for a few years for the food and patio out back. The Pub used to have a Chef working the kitchen and now a handful of dirty t-shirt kids with no pride in the food or their appearance. Seems all the good employees have left. Shame. Last time we were there a woman we later found out was the owner was stomping around the pub yelling at various employees as costumers were tying to enjoy their lunch. She was out of control. We never went back.

Re: “Opa Café

DISGUSTING!!!! a totally cliche restaurant, very unauthentic, in a trashy part of summerville. Not only did i hear them trash talk a different greek restaurant ( i guess they can't take the competition and i think that is HIGHLY UNPROFFESIONAL) but when i got my "leg of lamb" or so it says, it was disgusting and dried out! I expected a nice juicy leg of lamb, not some baked dried out crap that they put on my plate. I figured if they were talking crap about their rival, and they were the ones with the bad, maybe i should go there so I did and I had a DELICIOUS lamb kebab, juicy, tender, marinated and beautifully presented!!

Re: “Barsa Tapas Lounge & Bar

The interior is polished and the staff welcoming. However our food was luke warm ( the croquettes & skewers) and without much flavor. The menu is limited and nothing surprising, we definitely could tell there wasn't much effort put into it. The wine list also needs more diversity and depth.

Re: “Tropical Sushi

Had a horrible experience! Rarely saw our waitress recieved the wrong food, finally got the correct order and was undercooked. When we finally recieved our bill it was for $16. We told the waitress there was a mistake she said she didn't care! I suggest anything but Tropical.

Re: “Andolini's Pizza

I think you guys need to take a trip to new york to find out what New York pizza is all about. To win best New York pizza year after year is a joke unless they spend alot on advertising then i can understand why City Paper makes them win.

Re: “Andolini's Pizza

Horrendously bad pizza and an insult to the community. Andolini's was much better when I was growing up. I heard that a few years ago the owners brought in a partner with no background in food. Ever since then corners have been cut to up the bottom line.

Re: “Andolini's Pizza

Only thing good is if you order a whole pie and have it made fresh, then it's maybe top 5 pizza in Charleston. But by the slice is horrible, absolutely terrible, I don't understand how people eat it, it's old, and it's so burnt on the bottom. Oh, and probably the worst customer service of any single business on the penninsula, it's like you are burdening them by being there because they are too busy fighting the man and corporate America. Basically, just go somewhere else...

Re: “Andolini's Pizza

This may possibly take the cake as one of the WORST Pizza's I have ever had. I just ordered cheese and sausage nothing fancy. Crust was cardboard, Sausage was supper spicy and not good, sauce was boring and Chese was cheep and greasy. All they do is make large pizzas not good pizzas. I personally dont like to rip a business but I hate when owners and friends of resturants rate their own place... Its obvious from the stupid good reviews this place gets. Please some one tell me how its possible they have more than one location?

Re: “Monza

Pizza is undersized & over priced. The flavor is good but nothing too special. They don't put much on the pizza - it's mostly just crust and sauce.

On top of it all, they throw a BS charge on the ticket for calling in an order to PICK UP. That's right, not a delivery fee, a pick up fee. I will never eat there again.
