I was at McCrady's last night, New Years Eve 2013, for dinner with my date. The food was absolutely awful (it was a 7 course chef's tasting menu). Each plate was priced at $150 for a total of $300 for both of us, or so we thought. Our waiter asked us if we wanted to have wine that complimented each course, which we did. At the fourth course, we were so disappointed in the quality of the food that we elected to leave without having the last two courses. The food was that bad. I was stunned at the poor quality, and the experienced ruined our New Years Eve celebration. So when our bill came, we were charged almost $600 dollars for the disaster that was McCrady's restaurant. That's right, $600 dollars for two people. I am a resident of this area, and I can say that the meal we had at McCrady's restaurant was the worst I have ever had. I would not even to be able to rate this experience as a one star.
While our brunch today at Bluerose was good, if unremarkable, from a culinary perspective, the service was shockingly bad. I met a number of girlfriends who were visiting from out of town. We had two babies and a toddler in our party. While the babies made a typical mess (crumbs on the floor around their highchairs and napkins that had fallen to the floor), it was not extraordinary. Toward the close of our meal, a man came out and handed me a push sweeper and told me to "clean up our mess or pay extra." Dining with children, I always pick up after them (we were still seated with plates on the table at this point), and I typically leave a generous tip for the server to compensate him or her for having to deal with any mess left behind. Here, in a room full of other patrons, my friends and I were left, stunned, to clean the carpet. In perfect fairness, the waiter who served us for the majority of the meal was lovely and as this incident wasn't his fault, I didn't withhold a tip.
I live in the neighborhood, and try to eat out predominately at local restaurants. I'm also typically relatively forgiving of minor glitches or service errors, but I have never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant. I will not be returning, and I plan on sharing my experience with all of my friends, particularly those with children so that they don't suffer the same humiliating experience.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! Went once for lunch, went back for all you can eat crab legs with a huge group. They promised ALL YOU CAN EAT crab legs from 6-9pm and ran out at 8pm. Not only was our huge party out of crabs but other small tables around us were not given the ALL YOU CAN EAT CRAB LEGS that Wreckfish was promising to honor. This restaurant is a WRECKING BALL!!!! After talking to a server (that wasn't ours because ours had been sent home), two managers, AND the OWNER, NOT ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE APOLOGIZED AND/OR GAVE US THE APPROPRIATE "CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT" FEEL. I've been in the restaurant business for over 14 years and this treatment was COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!! They are all about themselves and NOT ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! Plus their food is just okay and way overpriced for what you get. I advise anyone wanting or thinking about trying this place and/or going back to STAY AWAY!!!! STAY FAR FAR AWAY! Plus the place smells like urine the minute you walk in. That should have been my first indication to turn around and go somewhere else. I would have been better off eating at Northwoods Mall Food Court. If I could leave a negative star rating i would.
I went to the Biergarten on a Saturday for lunch. I ordered the Pimento cheese roll appetizer (recommended by the server), Pork Schnitzel, tried two different beers, and my dining companion had sweet tea and a salad. The pimento cheese rolls lacked any discernible taste other than 'gooey cheese', could have been Velveeta for all I know. The pork schnitzel was as tough as shoe leather and tasted about the same as one would expect shoe leather to taste. Proper schnitzel, when prepared correctly, has been pounded thin, and could basically be cut with a fork. This was certainly not true of the Biergarten's version which was a carved piece of meat, that was then egg-battered and dredged through flour. Thankfully we passed on the 'beer card'. $50 for lunch that was not very tasty? I do not think so. My lasting impression is that if you desire a large space to hang out and drink beer, this is probably a good option, but I would skip on the food. Parking, as mentioned in several others post is a major problem.
Go Somewhere Else!
My husband and I took out his little sister for dinner. They ordered Chicken Parmigiana for $16.95 each. Both chicken breasts were BURNT and UNEATABLE. We complained to the waiter and waited for a manager to come by our table. No manager came by. We were CHARGED for both chicken dinners with two $3.25 cannolis on the house.
I couldn't believe the kitchen would serve burnt food and hide it under cheese and sauce like that. I couldn't believe the waiter didn't do more to make our dinner acceptable to eat. I couldn't believe no one cared.
They proudly put a 5 star rating on their door but don't back it up. AVOID THIS PLACE!

horrible place, food is sucks, service is slow. i was there yesterday to watch halloween contest. i do not f.. believe that winners had no costumes won. Judges eliminated really good costumes like everybody's favorite rednecks couple. i believe winners were friends with bar stuffs or judges. worst halloween contest ever ever ever. highly not recommended. place needs to shut down.
I have been going to Morgan Creek grill for several years. Haven't ever thought much of the service or the food, but love the location. After enjoying a nice afternoon downstairs at the Creek with friends I learned a few days later that they had charged my credit card twice. I called immediately and after speaking with 3 people was transferred to Carla Pope the "manager" who told me "it was a busy day, it was a human error." I totally agreed. Carla said they would refund my credit card for the second duplicate charge, so I asked that the restaurant also pay the expenses they incurred because of their double charge and Carla refused. She told me "its not our fault you can't manage your money." What? As a local who has frequently Morgan Creek Grill for years I cannot believe the outrageous attitude and behavior Carla exhibited. Where is the service recovery? After speaking with the bank today and no refund has been processed I will be contacting the fraud department.
Was very dissapointed in our last visit to Hall's. Went on a Friday night with guests in town and had reservations through OpenTable. Show up at 7:30, and they have no tables available, even though they had called earlier that day to confirm out reservations. They seat us at the bar to wait on an available table. Its so loud and drunk people pushing into us, our quests are quite annoyed and ask if we should leave. The old hostess who works there, who is a Hall and part of the ownership, comes up to us every 5 minutes to apologize to us. Not to mention she has horribly bad breath as she has to get right in my face to talk as its so loud in there. We are seated about 20 minutes later. We end up spending easy $100 each on 4 people. Our two guests from Chicago were very unimpressed with the food and our experience there, I thought the food was just ok that night, but not nearly for what you pay when you leave. It wasn't my first time, but Hall's has worn thin on me from the first couple times we went there during the first year. Talking to friends it seems to be wearing thin on just about everyone. Lucky for us, plenty of exciting new restaurants to take Hall's place.
I have never been treated so poorly in my life. My 2 year old hit his head and screamed in pain. When we were able to calm him down a few minutes later we placed our order. Literally, a minute later, the general manager, Travis, came over and asked "IS THERE GOING TO BE A PROBLEM HERE? YOU'RE KID'S YELLING IS DISTURBING!" Nevermind that he almost busted his head open and we were clearly emabarrased that we quickly requested boxes. On our way out, he took it upon himself to to tell us "BYE BYE!" As if he was the conquering hero that saved his patrons from the terrible 2 1/2 and 1 year old children. After we went home and put our kids to sleep for their nap, I went back to calmly let him know I have never been treated so poorly and wouldn't be coming back even though I have been there regularly for a decade. He actually told me he doesn't want to tell me how to raise my kids, but he had to look after his other customers comfort. Clearly he doesn't have kids, or he would have known that we were more worried about our son's well being than disturbing a few tourists sucking down horrible, overpriced Bloody Mary's at the bar. Way to go Travis, you clearly care about your regular customers.
1 star for flavor. Excellent flavor. Value for the money? You decide. $11 for 5 pieces of pork belly is too hard to swallow. Add a 1 tbsp spoon of rice for additional 2 bucks? Stir fried Chili Shrimp comes with 6 jumbo shrimps for $10, pretty good deal but taste like freezer and Ca Cha Hanoi $17? Fish the size of a deck or card? I can get prime rib for that price. Heck, we spent $50 there with belly half full and needed another dinner, which we did 30mins later.
OK drinks. Horrible service. The bartender (possibly owner) was disrespectful and confrontational. Better to take your business a few doors down to any of the other cocktail bars on King St.
This place is a joke. The service Is the best thing about this restaurant. The food is a whole other story. The chef should be ashamed of himself. Steak was undercooked then overcooked. I'd say it was an isolated incident but our guests ordered the same steak, ribeye with the same result. Come in guys lets get it right. Dont believe the hype. I've had better steaks for half the price. Not recommended unless you have a couple hundred dollars you want to blow.
I was looking forward to some good Italian food and had been told that this was a great place by several coworkers.
We must've caught them on a bad night or my coworkers have really bad taste. The bread was stale and the spiced oil was just some dried herbs in the oil that did nothing to improve the flavor. We ordered a Caprese salad that was tasteless and lacking any visual appeal. The lettuce was Iceberg piled in the center with nothing added to the tomatoes or the mozzarella. We asked for some olive oil or balsamic and was brought some prepared italian dressing and were told that they didn't have any balsamic.
At this point, we decided to find somewhere else to eat.
The waitress, which tried to do a good job but spoke very little english was still trying to take our orders. The owner was standing in the dining room and we asked him to come over. He seemed disinterested in our comments and told us that they had good pasta dishes and that they didn't need any balsamic. He didn't offer any other comments about the food or service.
I hope that this a bad night but given the owners attitude, I have my doubts.
I have been here twice in 2 years. Had to give it a second chance. While the atmosphere is cozy, the food is nothing to talk about or eat! The worst sheppards pie I've ever had. It had chili base with chunks of potatoes on top. Awful! You need a new chef!
All the negative reviews are correct. My two main criticisms are overpriced for what you get (have been to fine steakhouses throughout the US, Halls falls in the midrange for what are top dollar prices) and the creepy family who comes by your table and interrupts you it seems like every 10 minutes. If I'm going to pay those prices I want to enjoy my meal.
I cannot stand Halls, it's a fake uppidy place for tourists. If you like paying twice the money for a drink, and being rubbed on by the elephants that go in there it's perfect for you. Also if you like being creeped on by the weirdo sons there it's just additional icing on the cake.

I have lived in Charleston for over 5 years and have been ordering from D’alls since the beginning. I have been highly disappointed the last few times I have ordered. First, the staff answering the phone has a tendency to be rude, especially the person working at 9:05 on Sunday, June 14th. I was put on hold for over 5 min and hung up on. I had to call 2 more times until someone answered. The guy was super rude and told me 45 min. 1:20 min later pizza arrived. Pizza was cold by then and my salad that I ordered had no dressing and was charged extra for ordering it. I've always loved your pizza but am starting to notice a decrease in quality. There seems to be a lot of inconsistency which I understand can happen with staff issues. I plan to order again at some point and both the rudeness of the staff and overall experience needs to improve or it will be my last time. I'm no restaurant expert, but I do believe the problem lies with your staff. I've enjoyed many pies from your establishment and hope things can turnaround so I can continue to support you guys.
