Reasonably priced, mediochre italian/american fare. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. The eggplant was soggy and loaded with stale bread crumbs. The table bread was dense and cubed; wonder bread wrapped in a black napkin and served in a basket is still wonder bread. The dipping oil was sour. The alfredo was like paste but the flavor was good. The service was slow. Everything about Bella Napoli is "eh" at best. BUT, the bf and I got to have lunch together which makes everything better.
Would be nice if they paid better attention to their food. The jumbo wings had to be a joke as they were the smallest and driest we had ever had. Beer is on the pricey side and the staff seems to have no passion for the job or the guests.
HORRIBLE sushi!! Went there last year, and it was okay, but went last month, and I can't believe they would even call it sushi! The rice was mushy/soggy and tasted plain- NOT sushi rice at all!! The rice was missing that distinct vinegar/sugar taste that makes sushi..Trust me, I eat sushi all the time and am actually Japanese. Spent alot of money, and it tasted like plain soggy japanese rice. HORRIBLE. AVOID AT ALL COST!!
If I could give this rest. no star at all I would. I had heard great things about Bushido, so I wanted to check it out! Also, I LOVE sushi and anytime I can get it past 10p is awesome and half price at that, what a treat! or so I thought! I came to Bushido for the midnight sushi deal and I had even brought some friends because I was so stoked. Well, when we got there, there was a band playing and it was more busy than I think that they could handle. We were asked to wait and told it would be about 20 min. ok....no problem. So, we sat in the lobby. about 5 min roles around and another group comes in with the same # of ppl in their party. They wait a minute and look around and then they find the mananger who then sits them at a table without any regard to the fact that we were there waiting also. At this point, we are upset and I go to the manager to ask him about it and he tells me that he had to make a "judgment" call and that group knew the band that was playing! REALLY!!!!!!! So, what you are saying is that my $ will not spend the same or I dont deserve a table in the same timely, prompt fashion because I do not know the band? Let's just say that we will not be back!
Im sick of getting fleeced in Charleston...
A side of rice for two bucks should not come in a small dixie cup.
Really, can't you provide a bowl or plate of RICE for the same price???
Was going to rate 2 stars for almost OK, but the rice thing really annoyed me.
Wow! Two bartenders, one with a bad attitude and the other, well, she wouldn't even make eye contact, much less take an order. Frozen Margueritas? "No," she said "the machines been broken for weeks," she said. Ahh, customer-caring management. The Salsa and the Barracho Beans were fine as long as you consider them a condiment for your Cilantro. All in all, not bad if you don't mind chronic bad attitude and cilantro....... but next time I'll go somewhere else.
$9-$12 for a burger smaller than a McDonalds 79 cent burger!
I've been a couple times now, hoping that the experience would improve, but it hasn't at all. The hostesses are impolite, the service is spotty (but at least the wait staff is friendly), but my main issue is the food. Every time I've visited I have requested a burger as rare as they will cook it, yet every time it comes out like charcoal. The fries and onion rings are decent, but could be way better. It's a great atmosphere to stop and have a drink, just don't eat the food.
NOT SMOKE FREE!
Another Mount P bar that has an open roll up door between the "outside" smoking area and the supposed inside non-smoking area.
Bad enough that they have slowly but surely been enclosing the outside area, but the addicts stand in that roll up door and blow their poison in at you.
If you wish to avoid second hand smoke, avoid Wild Wing Mount P.
I know I will.
Not good. I roll bigger joints than the tacos at this place. Beers are overpriced and often you are likely to have one of their patrons spill a drink on you. I'll take the Taco Bell over Taco Boy.
Their tacos are 4 dollars each and it takes 3 to 4 if you want to have a decent lunch/dinner. So your out 12 - 16$ and you've just eaten a few tacos. Add some chips & salsa 3$ more and a crappy Corona for 4.50 - you've just spent 19.50 on 3 tacos, some chips and a beer. This place is a total rip off.. their food isn't that good either.
Don't get why people try to defend this place, its awful. Only place i have ever heard of that doesn't offer happy hour specials. And the food is garbage.
The food was bland (insufficient spice) and the portions, very small. We were still hungry after we left. The menu selection was minimal with 2 or 3 main courses which was not tasty nor flavorful as expected. We felt that the food was specifically prepared to cater to an American clientele (not spicy) and not for Jamaicans. It did not represent the authentic Jamaican taste at all which was terribly disappointing. Even the Jerk Chicken that is supposed to be well seasoned, was awfully bland!
The owner ignored us even though she passed by our table several times without even as much as a "hello". My husband had to literally call her to our table and introduced ourselves...telling her that his wife is Jamaican! Shame. Next time we go, we will FIRST eat elsewhere or eat at home; then just go there and sit on their outdoor patio and listen to the Friday evening LIVE Reggae band which was good. The dining area was airy and bright but the food was disappointing and not as expected.
Food was tolerable but nothing spectacular and way overpriced. Service is slow and not very good. It's pretty much Taco Boy, but even more expensive with an "upscale" attitude because it has a lot of tequilas.
I live in the neighborhood and wanted this place to do well at first, but if they don't change direction, I'll be surprised if it lasts the winter once they close the patio.
If you're coming to East Montague for lunch or dinner, you should go to pretty much any other place on the street first. If you're looking for great Mexican food, go on down Spruill to Santi's, or up Rivers to La Nortena, and order the Mexican tacos. Much better food, much less pretensiousness.
Gorgeous interior. Had Pisco Disco cocktails, the cheese plate, the garlic shrimp, and the steak crostini. The shrimp was very salty...lots of garlic I can handle, too much salt is another thing. The steak crostini lacked flavor. The cheese plate was so-so. The Pisco Disco cocktails were great! This might be a great place to have drinks, but I would not go again to eat.
They have a really good opportunity to have a cool restaurant but are slowly but surely blowing it. Every day I talk to neighbors in Park Circle that wonder how much longer they are going to be able to hang on. The sentiment is pretty consistent, food is good but inconsistent and service is usually nice but pretty slow and weak. Really would love to have another great restaurant on East Montague and Zocalo has the potential but just hasn't lived up to it yet.
I don't like this place. It was built as a tourist trap/extension of the Mad River genre of bars/restaurants. If you want a comparison, think: Mad River's Metro Vibe + Noisy Oyster quality food. It's too bad considering the potential this location carries to be a prime time bar atmosphere. Instead it just falls to the wayside with the other tourist traps.
Inspired by today's article, I thought I should add my 2 cents. I couldn't care any less about the paper plates, the lack of AC, or the difficulty in finding the joint. In fact, I love a good dive! The problem here is that the food is terrible and way overpriced for what you are getting. I went two weeks ago with a party of 10 and not a single person enjoyed their meal. The fried seafood was soggy and tasted like old grease. Not appealing at all. The "grilled" seafood was even worse. Covered in something that I couldn't identify, it had a harsh, burnt taste. I hate to be so brutal, but this was probably the worst meal I've ever eaten in Charleston.
Sunday evening, the server was WONDERFUL,but....... unfortunately I don't call industrially pureed and frozen potatoes, canned gravy and freezer-burned sausages Bangers and Mash, and at $13.95 I brought home half of my serving and even the cats wouldn't eat the sausage and gravy.
Re: “King Street Grille”
I have never writen a review on establishment before, but I feel I have to after this past Sunday. So you call yourself a sports bar and your not prepared for a NATIONAL sporting event like the Woman's World Cup!!!!! I could not understand why you would not have enough wait staff on hand for an event such as this so that my friends and I, that are sitting at a table, did not have to order two beers at a time or even go to the bar and order a drink due to your wait staff being slow and under staffed. What's sad is that a few of my friends that I was sitting with kept stating that this is "typical JI King Street Grille" Also folks in my party had to litterally leave the table and look for our server to get our check once the game was over. Truly have some major concerns for this King Street Grill and its patrons come this upcoming football season. TV's great, food good, beer good if its not the second of the two you had to order at the same time thats a little warm now, and service well...... SUCKS!!!!!
