Pretentious, dreadful, so noisy that it was hard to place our orders and we were hoarse when we left. Food mediocre and overpriced. Voting with my wallet, never again.
I had a terrible experience - I was disappointed and underwhelmed by the food quality and service. The staff is unfamiliar with the contents of the menu and do not communicate clearly. My order was incorrectly delivered and they served poor quality dishes. When I showed the piece of sashimi that looked as if it had been torn off by a dog, the waitress did not offer to replace the dish. The sushi roll just falls apart and they served lettuce that was not fresh. Not to mention that they had a repairman clinking and clanking in the dining area while customers were still present and eating.
I know it was 10pm on a Sunday. But, that's no reason for the hamachi nigiri to be almost room temperature and the wasabi to be dry. And the olives in the martini were absolutely tasteless and lacking pimentos in 2 out of 3. This place needs a good scrubbing in the back of the house. Men's restroom in serious need of attention. Also suggest covering the window in the kitchen door. Seeing food scraps all over work surfaces and general unsightliness is disturbing.
When you walk into a restaurant and the smell of bleach blasts you in the face...there may be a problem.
HORRIBLE sushi!! Went there last year, and it was okay, but went last month, and I can't believe they would even call it sushi! The rice was mushy/soggy and tasted plain- NOT sushi rice at all!! The rice was missing that distinct vinegar/sugar taste that makes sushi..Trust me, I eat sushi all the time and am actually Japanese. Spent alot of money, and it tasted like plain soggy japanese rice. HORRIBLE. AVOID AT ALL COST!!
If I could give this rest. no star at all I would. I had heard great things about Bushido, so I wanted to check it out! Also, I LOVE sushi and anytime I can get it past 10p is awesome and half price at that, what a treat! or so I thought! I came to Bushido for the midnight sushi deal and I had even brought some friends because I was so stoked. Well, when we got there, there was a band playing and it was more busy than I think that they could handle. We were asked to wait and told it would be about 20 min. ok....no problem. So, we sat in the lobby. about 5 min roles around and another group comes in with the same # of ppl in their party. They wait a minute and look around and then they find the mananger who then sits them at a table without any regard to the fact that we were there waiting also. At this point, we are upset and I go to the manager to ask him about it and he tells me that he had to make a "judgment" call and that group knew the band that was playing! REALLY!!!!!!! So, what you are saying is that my $ will not spend the same or I dont deserve a table in the same timely, prompt fashion because I do not know the band? Let's just say that we will not be back!
The restaurant looked very nice. What looked to be a nice surrounding to have good lunch in, turned out to be a nightmare. When we sat down there was only one other couple having lunch. When we were looking at the menus, we saw the waitress delivering two meals to the table where the other couple was sitting. They both received the wrong dishes even though there were only TWO people in the restaurant.
The food all tasted like it came from a can, and by using frozen spicy tuna with many other frozen fish, the sushi has gone down. One of my friend told me that Tokyo Bistro has a new sushi chef, which I think it made a big differences on the sushi part., or even their hibachi.
The overall experience was bad, that it was even somewhat funny.
Conclusion: never go there!
Had a horrible experience! Rarely saw our waitress recieved the wrong food, finally got the correct order and was undercooked. When we finally recieved our bill it was for $16. We told the waitress there was a mistake she said she didn't care! I suggest anything but Tropical.
Something is sketch about this page. i just posted a comment and it was erased because it only had 1 star...hmm...
This place makes me laugh..I mean, barf! When there when it first opened, was decent. Went there the other day and was like, WHAT THE F HAPPENED? How can this place last, really? It feels off...like its all fake. There is this image that O-ku is trying so desperate (oh good, the word desperate is PERFECT here) to maintain feels like a sham. There is nothing much to back it up.
I guess trendsters and wannabe trendsters keep going there, tho. And there is nothing worse than hanging out with people who so so desperately WANT to look and act cool. Its just isnt, tho. Sorry.
And Sushi no good, seriously. The wait staff was outright dumb, and did not know a thing about a thing. O-ku is busted, imo.
Just keepin' it real.
I have no idea why people think this is good sushi. The place is disgusting, service slow, and food mediocre. I heard somebody once say that the place had the feel of a 'little new york sushi place'....seriously?! I guess he's never been to NY because this place feels like a little sushi place in Tijuana.
I couldn't agree with johnscott and elam1234. O-ku is the biggest disappointment for me this year considering all the hype. The one good thing we had was not on the menu - it was oysters with delicious mazutaki (sp?) mushrooms. All else was just OK, and OK is definitely not the kind of prices or atmosphere this place was trying to project. If you want better sushi, head over to Zen in West Ashley. I have been there twice now after the disappointing meal. Our server was not knowledable on any of the sakes or dinner choices, which is not really acceptable for the prices and atmosphere. Train the waitstaff before they hit the floor. By not doing so, you shoot yourself in the foot.
"Miso soup" tasted like it came from a can and I think the fish had turned. 1st time I didn't finish a meal in my life.

Underwhelming and faux. Food is good, yet overpriced. Just another bar scene, but not nearly as horrid as Hall's...
Avoid this place, the service was horrible. You can get better sushi at Publix. I have talked to my friends who also live here on the island and they had the same experience.
What an underwhelming experience. The waitress was unattentive, the food all tasted like it came from a can, and it was pricey for what you got. Little Tokyo or Quyen is much better.
I will never go to Bushido again. Had a group of 6 and only 5 of us got sushi. It took over an hour to get our food and they charged us gratuity for the group. Asked why it took so long and was told that they like to serve the smaller groups first over the larger groups. WOW!! what service!
Re: “Fire Street Food”
I won't go into the whole ordeal...but based on my families experience on a single visit...I have no plans to go back.
Service was weak even though we were seated 6' from counter and there were only a couple other patrons. Waitress was more involved with setting up shop & organizing rather than waiting on customers. Meanwhile, one of the owners(?), a woman, is walking around with a glass of wine in hand and offers no assistance.
My meal came out separately and long after everyone else was served...in a party of 3. Food was not appetizing and bit 'off' from one would expect of familiar dishes.
No thank you.
