Amazing views. I've only been once and had the shrimp and grits, but will definitely be back.
For the price and quality of food, and home cooking style, can't be beat!
This place is incredible. So original, so fun, and sooooo delicious. I can't recommend it enough. A must try.
By far the best wing in Charleston!
The worst restaurant on Folly. Used to be great but since change of owner it has tanked.
Don't bother trying.
Taco Boy is the best restaurant ever! Best restaurant in Folly next to Woody's Pizza (right down the road). All these people complaining are whiny, overweight, cheap, tourists. Seriously all these out-of-state people are such snots coming to our small beach towns looking for a vacation like the Caribbean. This is Folly, chill out if your taco was salty. People live and die here, and you're here for a weekend complaining that we don't kiss your feet. People are just trying to live and chill out. Tourists need be respecting that. I don't even know why they're in Folly if they don't like Taco Boy. Taco Boy saved a Guatemalan orphanage from a pack of rabid Iguanas, how cool is that, right? If you want to be a bum don't go to Taco Boy. People are saying go to Taco Bell instead and all I gotta say to them is, yes, go. Because we don't need you to foul the atmosphere of Folly and Taco Boy. I've eaten dog food, and it was better than Taco Bell. All these tourists need to suck in their gut, and relax a little. Sorry we can't please your every demand and taste bud.
Tourist haters probably think I'm the manager or that I work there or something, but nope. I'm just a guy who found out that people are hating on his favorite restaurant in the world and I got upset. I just live here, man. You don't. I would highly recommend Taco Boy to friends and family of all ages and intellects if you want some fun and good food. Disagree? Your loss you condescending, patronizing, and socially exclusive degenerate. Eat at Taco Boy. Enjoy Folly. Stay Gnarly. Don't be a whiny grommet. Order the guac.
Kyle and Jessie are still the best. Shrimp po boy beyond excellent as is the ceviche, scallop po boy and lobster roll. Great oysters and real nice selection. I always start off my meal with a dozen. Still one of my favorite places to go for lunch.
Best escargot in Charleston. Great atmosphere!
Very laid back atmosphere with great food and attentive staff. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommended!
Ordered a Big Joe BBQ sandwich and a cup of water in Mount Pleasant. Cashier says, that will be $10.85. Explained that the order was for the sandwich only, not a basket or combo with sides. Cashier says, that will be $10.85. Asked if the mustard based sauce contained 24kt gold, then downgraded to a $6 cheeseburger. The Bessinger Family continues to get greedier and greedier as the years pass by. Hopefully, they will offer a finance plan for the lunch menu sometime in the near future so potential investors do not go around hungry.
Me Like. Plain, simple and unassuming but yet the food quality to back up a 4=star rating. Pricing is very fair for a lunch without having to shell out lots of dough.
I went to this restaurant for my anniversary as I had heard it was a very nice place. Imagine my surprise when my steak was served to me. You could still see the marks where the jockey had been hitting it. I will not return.
I love this place. Never had a problem with services. Whenever I have people from out of town visit I always take them here for the duck club.
"I humbly ask the ownership to take note of these trends in comments. I just hope they get this bit corrected."
Seeing as how you copied and pasted this exact same post from 2 years ago, I'd say you have your answer. They're too cool to give a shit about customer service. And after 10 pm they're too wasted to give a shit.
After reading a couple of the bad reviews above, I wanted to come charging in here to the defense of this great place. The food is awesome, the beer selection is good (and always cold) and the crowd is a good mixture of what Charleston is...
That being said, I have to say that they are unfortunately spot on when it comes to reviews of the service and general attitude of the staff. At times it seems as if the hipster style of just being too cool to care bleeds from the atmosphere (where it's okay) to the service (where it's not.)
I go here often and will continue to do so. I humbly ask the ownership to take note of these trends in comments. It can't be all of them have a grudge or caught you on a bad day.
The only thing, in my opinion, anyone could say negatively about this place is the apparent apathy in customer service.
As I said, I will go back and I will continue to recommend it to family and friends. I just hope they get this bit corrected.
"The entire side wall is an open garage door to the outside bar and I expect bugs and heat inside during hot days. It seems a very odd design."
Bugs, heat, and cigarette smoke. No thanks, and thanks for the warning so I won't waste time and fuel going there.
Just back from the new Johns Island location. The food was tasty but the menu seems limited. The food is served in baskets which I find to be a pita. I got the cheesburger which came back quite charred and very well done. I tried to cut it in half and it fell to pieces. $8.50 + $1.50 for cheese gets you a burger like the one at Smokey Oaks for $5. No sides are included and the smallest fries are $2.50.
The walls are covered in stuffed animals which I'm not into and they crank classic rock even during lunch. I could see cranking at 8pm but really at 11:30 am? It just makes me want to hurry and not relax. The entire side wall is an open garage door to the outside bar and I expect bugs and heat inside during hot days. It seems a very odd design.
The tables are way too close putting everyone on top of each other. Overall, I'm not excited.
Extra points for having a sweet pinball machine.
I've only had breakfast here, but it was almost as good as waffle house and just 3 times more expensive
Incredible food and service!
I can't wait until the one on Johns Island is open. I work like 1 mile from there. I know they had some construction issues, but they have to be close now.
