Kim is the best bartender I've ever had. Every time I enter this incredible establishment I've greeted and a beer is placed before me. The food is amazing! In response to the heavy flow of late night visitors they added specials for food and beverage employees. I'm pretty positive the 4$ shot specials never change but that's by no means a bad thing. Every time friends are in town this is our first stop. If you want a good experience, Caulders is a must!!
Been going to calders for almost a year now and the Food is terrible since jason left. The cook now can't cook food at all. Ordered a burger medium rare it came out rare barley cooked.. fries are over cooked everytime, have had to send them back multiple times. This happens multiple times a week. Will only grab drinks there from now on. Never eating there again until they get a cook that knows what they are doing. 1 star out of 5 for food. 5 out if 5 for bartender service when Kim or Nina are working
food is ok, the place is dirty. Reminds me of a pub night at a marginal fraternity. Really nothing to see here. And I'm born and bred in Philly.
tried them a couple of times. First, wife is from Philly, I lived there with her a couple of years, and the reason we went there the first time was because of that description. Ain't even close. And the wings? Dipped in bottled sauce and way undercooked ( I'm talking red and raw at the bone) the first time, overcooked the second. We used to live about 4 blocks from the joint, but after the second try we never went back.
great place to eat and hangout a true phila bar
As soon as you pull into the parking lot, the smell of delicious fills your nostrils. Head inside and grab a beer, and order up that three-meat plate. Pulled pork, brisket, and pork belly, with beans and mac n' cheese is how I do it. You won't wait too long before you are scarfing down juicy, smoked-out meat treats. I always have some leftovers for later. Don't forget to grab some nanner puddin' before you head out. The only downside of this place is that it's not attached to my house.
Ordered take out wings last night from Wings and they had a problem with their credit card processing system. So they just kept swiping my card and eventually gave up and wrote up a manual slip. Lo and behold the next morning I had been charged 5 TIMES on my credit card. Definitely won't be using a credit card if I ever go there again! Now I have a huge mess to straighten out with them and my bank.
I had some friends in town in mid-July and I took them to Calder's on a Friday night. The bartender was drunk out of his mind. We ordered food from him and told him we'd be outside with our drinks and he said he'd let us know when our food came out. 30 minutes went by, I went in and after 10 minutes of me trying to get his attention and focus on what I was asking, he said it wasn't ready yet without actually checking with the kitchen. After 20 more minutes my friend went in and asked the bartender where the food was and his reply was "oh, the kitchen guys left a half an hour ago. Did you order food?" I went over the last hour in detail with him and he stared at me with eyes glazed over and said "sorry, how bout I buy you a beer?" I said no thanks, we're hungry so we're going to the grocery store to get food. I paid my check and the bartender said "next time you come in remind me a I'll buy you dinner."
No thanks dummy. There won't be a next time. Good luck with your hangover.
I love this bar best wings in town..ya ya some people don't like but my dad alawys told me you piss somone off then they tell 15 people it sucks.. and if its good youll tell a person. That being said its a fun place to go with good food. :)
Hey peeps DJ Mike the Knight here. Come join me tonight from 8-12 for some karaoke. Come have some hot wings and cold drinks. Hope to see ya there tonight.
This Place has the best food
Went in for happy hour for my first time and found both bartenders to be very friendly and attentive. Sampler platter was the bomb. I am now addicted to the egg rolls and i'm not even an egg roll kinda girl. I will definitely be going back, probably become a regular there.
Always a pleaser. Wholesome atmosphere for all ages. Good food. Good service. Fun place.
Who owns this hell hole? The people that work there are so rude and condescending! I asked two employees what the owner/manager's name is and they BOTH said "I don't know I just work here!" The food is mediocre at best and it's smoky, cramped and trashy looking/feeling. I felt like I needed a bath after visiting. I'll never go back to this nasty place.
I really don't like to downplay a place..cause i hate to hurt the way someone makes a living but.... If your really searching for the best fried chicken...get back in the car go a short distance from Billy dee's back down maybank to JB's smokeshack and try the fried chicken on the buffet. You will not be disappointed....heres a place not even known for its fried chicken and it is without a doubt the best i have had. I'm not sure what the magic is but it ranks up there with the best fried chicken i've ever had in the area and it beats billie dees by a mile :)
OOPS I FORGOT TO RATE IT...DEFINITELY FIVE STARS!!!
The person who posted under the name of dcw29407 must be used to eating low quality food. The food at Billy Dee's is top notch. You can tell they use quality ingredients. The ribs are the best and believe me they are not cooked in a crock pot with anything like Mcdonald's disgusting ingredients. The corn muffins are moist and melt in your mouth. The fried and roasted chicken make it very difficult to choose just one. They must be doing something right to put KFC out of business less than a block away!!So you be the judge..go to McDonalds on the corner and get frozen dried up factory made food or go to a restaurant where it's locally owned and they care about what food they serve to the public.
Terrible experience. Uncaring and unapologetic.
Ordered two burgers, one of which came with swiss cheese (per the menu description). My wife doesn't do swiss so she asked for a different cheese. The burger came to the table with swiss. She asked about it and the waitress took it back for a replacement. When it came back, a few minutes later, there was cheese still on the edge of the burger...they had only scraped it off. We waited, quite some time, for the waitress to return so we could ask about the burger. She was emphatic that they had cooked her another burger and that it must be mayonnaise we were seeing...but there was no mayonnaise on the burger. Not to mention mayo isn't rubbery and stick to burger meat. During this whole time I had not touched my burger as I don't eat until my entire party is ready. We stated that we were not satisfied and asked for the check. We were intending on paying for the meal even though we did not eat. The waitress left and came back to tell us, and I quote, "Just leave." She picked up our plates and walked away.
Never once during this exchange did the waitress offer an apology and never did we warrant a visit from any type of management. From reading the reviews below it seems the owner is setting a fine example. As they say...feces flows downhill.
Great little place... everyone is friendly and they have good music. Prices are good too
Agree, the neighborhood pub feel is slowly slipping away. Lately, everytime I'm there the owner/manager is taking up valuable real estate sitting at the bar doing shots and rolling dice with his wait staff. That just looks bad for business. Save the seats for your customers and get your bartenders back to work! (Although I love Michael - he's the best bartender on staff and he's never doing shots with the owner when I've been in there - he's talking to his customers!)
