Seanachai is a great little pub on Johns Island. Great staff with nice craft beers and Irish whiskey selection, with good live music every week.
Gin Joint is a rip off, the drinks cost way too much! Other places you can get a good drink that is not so expensive. ..What a joke! People here have $$$$ to burn in bad economy now 2012!
We think Squeeze is THE best! We never miss the chance to stop in to visit the awesome bartenders, the great live music on the weekends. I personally like that the bartenders always ask if you liked your drink, they care about what they are serving you. And yes, the bathrooms are wonderful! GO TO SQUEEZE!!!!
We had an amazing experience at the Cocktail Club! We are new to Charleston and the bar was recommended to us by the concierge at The Charleston Place. They took great care of my family and were very gracious in remaking a cocktail that my mother found too strong (she is hard to please!) We will be back often. The Double Standard is fantastic..cant wait to try more!
Why was my comment removed? CCP censorship? Really?? Or is someone in Palmer's back pocket? If you think the following 2 reviews are by different people, who just happened to register and post for the first time on the same afternoon, I've got some news for you: they aren't. It's slick marketing aimed to temper a negative review. Let your product speak for itself, CC. And stop posting glowing reviews for O Ku, without identifying yourself as GM of an establishment owned by the same parent company.
"Best bar in Charleston! Excellent service, delicious drinks, and tasty food. Will be back again and again! I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could!"
"This place really has a unique and mature environment. Service and technique are unbelievably polished, creative, and just plain fun! Classy establishment."
Similar, no?

Slow, long-winded service. My girlfriend said the juice tasted old and when she tried to tell the bartender she just gave her attitude. WASTE OF MONEY! Much better bars around like the Belmount or Hom.
Love the drinks, great ambiance, awesome steak panini!
Just had drinks, no food. Slow service, pricey drinks which were terrible, and the staff was nowhere to be found. I'm not impressed that you 'make your own ice'.
A great little known spot for superb drinks and good conversation.
was hoping this hidden gem would not reveal its location
I have to completely disagree with all of this. The cocktails may not lack ingenuity, but they do lack flavor. And with absolutely no cultivated "mood" whatsoever, it just looks like a scattered application of ideas and themes that never came to fruition. Not to mention you can sit at the bar for at least 30 minutes and still have no completed drink in sight. One would imagine that with such time and/or care going into a beverage that it would stun and delight your taste buds, however, none of the four we tried manage to do that. If you want a true pre-prohibition atmosphere and carefully crafted drinks that taste divine, skip the Gin Joint and go to Speakeasy. Their bartenders are much more inviting, the mood is fantastic, and the drinks are on the money.
Gin Joint is by far the best new bar in Charleston. If you go, make sure you try the New Orleans gin fizz, Rattlesnake or the Southside. It is deff a plus to sit a the bar so if there is an empty seat jump on it!
Great little place and an extensive drink list. We sat in the front toward the door so it was hard to hear what kind of music they were playing, if any. That would be my only suggestion for them--get a better sound system and/or bring in some live fun music. Even better if you could open the doors to the patio out front. We'll be coming back for sure!
Drinks are absolutely fantastic and the staff is very friendly and knowleadgable. The drinks are more expensive than your average establishment, but they are worth it.
Perfect place to have a few pre-drinks or grab some late night snacks. The chocolate pie with pop rocks (yes, pop rocks) is heaven on a plate.
Nostalgic atmosphere, stout drinks, & great service....I'd certainly give them 5 stars!
Re: “Seanachai Social Club”
What a great local! So happy that there is a place on Johns Island to enjoy an after-work beer in a friendly pub. Bartender and owner Gerry is a gem, treats his customers as friends, and is a craftsman with the cocktails, too. Hard to drive past it on your way home without stopping for a pint!
