I have to agree with what I've read, I hesitated to post due to hoping my experience was a mishap. First- the service was way too slow when there are not many people in the place. There was a hair in my very well done burger (asked for medium) which at least they took that off the price, I ended up being VERY sick just a couple hours later so will not be back until I start hearing consistent positives.
Great place, good atmosphere. Always a good time!
Unique flavors of wings and they are delicious! My fav is the rasberry sauced wings. The staff is really down to earth and friendly. I'd avoid dining at lunch. I have heard the service lacks at that time of day. Great low key spot for evening!
A recent visit to the Mall location was a disaster: except for the onion rings. I was quickly seated by a harried mgr. Very soon a young woman handed me a menu and took my drink order. The drink was in front of me in short order. Then the wait began. The young lady never stopped serving other tables, taking orders and working up a low grade sweat. She passed by my table SEVERAL times after I had put the menu down. After approx 15 minutes I spotted her behing the service station sorting flatware. I walked over and asked if I could possibly place an order. She advised she was not my waitperson and had told another young lady about me. She did however take my order for a med rare american cheeseburger with raw onion. The real disaster was the cheeseburger. Why the hell do they season the meat with coriander and some other spice that left a metallic taste in the mouth. After two bites I asked for the check, paid and left. Never to return.
A Hidden Gem.
I heard about this place on Restaurant.com. I've probably driven past this place a million times and never even noticed it.
Pros: Eclectic menu, delicious homemade salad dressings, ketchup and mustard. Food looks, smells, and tastes fresh. A great place for Vegetarians, I recommend the Black Bean sliders (you can choose from a variety of mouth watering toppings). Their salads rock..who would ever think a salad could taste so good! Staff are always friendly, kind, welcoming, and pleasant.
Cons: A little dark in the restaurant...other than that-Nothing.
Will definitely return and recommend to friends!

Grindz is apparently under new management, according to our waitress there tonight. That being said, it does not appear that much has changed based on prior reviews.
The good thing about our visit was that the waitress was very nice.
That being said, here are the cons:
1) We both ordered our burgers medium, described by the waitress as "pink". BOTH were grey, beyond well-done. Its a burger joint, folks: for a $9 burger, I expect it right. And no, I don't send food back, I just don't come again.
2) The fries tasted straight out of the freezer. Not worth the $2 price tag (fries don't come with the burger? How odd) Onion rings probably were frozen too, but were OK. Again: fries are basic, get them right.
3) The wait was VERY long for food to come out. At 6 PM, there were only 2 other tables full in the place, and about 6 waitstaff out front, including an obviously bored hostess (which screams inexperienced management). So personnel was not the issue. It took about 5-10 minutes to get our pitcher of beer (only about 3 customers at bar, so why the wait?), and total of 20-30 minutes for burgers to come out. Overall, it was just too long a wait.
4) The plates were HOT, meaning they has sat under the heat lamp. Again, the place wasn't busy . . so why were they sitting? What were the 6 waitresses busy with?
5) The patrons at the bar were EXTREMELY drunk (slurring, unbalanced, you know), foulmouthed, and loud. That happens. In Grindz' defense, a manager eventually did come and discreetly ask them to be quiet, and they did. However, Grindz kept serving them alcohol after this. Inexcusable.
6) No pickle on the plate. Yes, picky I know. But come on. Burger, fries, no pickle? Do you not know what a burger plate is supposed to look like? Also: the pickle on their "All American" burger was a sweet pickle. Huh? Dill, people, dill is how its done.
7) Waitress was unable to answer simple questions about the menu. Example: the special was a $3 beer happy hour special. Based on waitress' description, we both thought we were getting a bucket of mini-bottles. It was instead a half pitcher. We were happy with the half-pitcher, but not what we were expecting.
Would I go back? Ehh, not for the food. I would maybe go for a beer, but there are so many other places to try, I don't see the point.
Went by today (Sunday) for lunch around 1:00 pm, the place was busy, but not crowded. We had one of the burgers and one of the flatbreads, both of which were good and were good sized portions. The specialty beer prices were on par with other Mt P restaurants, but the liquor drink i had ( a Tom Collins) was like $9! i was expecting it to be about $7, but thought that was a bit on the high end for a drink with the house gin. They also charged some weird charge/tax listed on the tab as SC alcohol tax (?). So, there was 7.5% city tax, also a 2% hospitality tax & the alcohol tax. We asked the waiter about it, thinking it might be some new Mt P tax, and he stated that "all the restaurants charge it but 'hide it" in the food & drink price"..... eh??? anyone else know anything about that? seems like at other places you only see the 7.5% tax on the bill.....
We love CPH for selfish reasons. It is our go-to place on the way home from working downtown, late-night. They offer full menu (I think) until 1230 and you can't beat the beer selection. Try the rosemary popcorn; I would not have given it a second glance until a free sample at happy hour and now it is a sure thing everytime I go in. The mussels are great and the fries that come with them are a delicious bonus. Staff/owners seem like great people and we hope they do well. Since Vic's closed/changed owners this is an excellent substitution.

@isidella: Nope, not affiliated at all. It was my first time there and I thought the food was great and the service attentive. You are entitled to your opinion, as am I. Sorry you were so frustrated by what you imply was inept bartending that you had to keep sending your mimosas back three times, which frankly seems a tad over the top to me. Maybe they didn't have Cook's or something similarly "cheap." Maybe they don't use your brand of OJ. Who knows? If you want to twist it around that I was calling you and your friends pedestrian, which I wasn't, that's your prerogative. You seem to claim that the drink is so simple to concoct that anyone can do it (hence, my use of the term "pedestrian"), yet you seem to have rather exacting standards. I'm not much of a brunch person and I really couldn't care less about champagne. I also don't much care one way or the other if you return or you don't. I've been to plenty of restaurants where I've had a cocktail that was not precisely the way I'd make it myself, but the food and the service were outstanding. I'd much rather have good food and a so-so libation than the other way around.
mofred, would you happen to be affiliated with the Public House? I am entitled to my opinion, as "pedestrian" as it may be. Mimosas are king in brunch circles - and done better at other establishments around town. You won't have to worry about me or any of my many "pedestrian" friends coming back.

Without a doubt, the best burger and fries to be had anywhere around. My generously portioned, juicy, succulent burger was perfectly cooked to medium rare, and the choice of toppings (I ordered the Southern burger which sports a fried green tomato among other items) was really imaginative. The fries were out of this world. My wife had a terrific cob salad. Wide selection of beers (bottled and on tap), wines by the bottle or glass, and some interesting cocktail options. The decor is neither upscale nor low-end; just a comfortable, relaxing, friendly place to eat, drink and linger. The staff was genuinely friendly and attentive. (Thanks, Rob!) We will definitely be back. Want to try those lamb burgers!
I can't believe someone actually would take the time to complain about something as pedestrian as a mimosa.
Good flatbreads and burgers. Brunch is another issue. They have great food but cannot pour a mimosa for anything (we asked for better pours on three separate occasions and they just can't get it right.) It is all OJ with a splash of cheap Cook's "champagne." For us, brunch is about the mimosas, so we will go elsewhere until they get it right.
This place is the pits -- We took a group of nine there for lunch -- THe loudspeakers were right overhead blaring deafening music -- we cold not talk = It was so uncomfortable-- they could not hear us asking to tone it down a bit.. I will never go back --
I can't understand why anyone wouldn't love this place. Lunch today - split two excellent burgers with a friend (The General Lee and the Bramboozled) and they were OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD. The prices were great, our service was fantastic (Caroline) and the taste and portions of the food were fabulous. Love, love, loved it.
A great addition to the Mt. Pleasant dining scene. We stopped by for lunch and the Fried Green Tomato Napoleon, Southwestern Salad, and California Burger were all delicious and reasonably priced. Great cocktail and beer selection as well. Will definitely visit again and often!
Stopped by the Coleman Public House on the way home from a party last week and was very impressed with both the quality of the beer offerings and the food, which is a clear cut or two above traditional bar fare. My wife and I split the lamb burgers and the red curry shrimp skewers...both were delicious, but the lamb burgers are outstanding. We will be back to sample more from the menu and hope the best for this welcome addition to the Coleman side of Mt.P. Recommended for both food and libations.
I cannot understand the glowing reviews of this place - GIVE ME A BREAK!
Not only is the food mediocre at best, and the service completely lame, but the place is located in an old gas station - yuck!
