Re: “Café Kronic

This is an awesome place!!! Every time I've gone there, the food and coffee were great! I recently took my boyfriend there, and he said the quality of the food was exceptional. The staff is very friendly, too! You definitely have to stop by if you are on James Island! Looove the pancakes!!!

Re: “Café Kronic

I love this place!! Aside from being able to support a local business, owned and operated by a local business person, I have always found the coffee and food at Cafe Kronic to be fresh and prepared to order. What a nice change it is to not be enslaved by the food chains that adorn Folly Rd. And talk about locals supporting locals, they even have brunch on Sundays featuring local musicians. Keep up the great service, Kronic!!!

Re: “Café Kronic

Felt a responsibility to set the record straight for this Cafe'. I am a friend of the person with the user name MASTERCHEF. He just got fired from the Cafe' and when complaining about it told me and some others he was going to bash them on review sites. I was curious so looked. I think that it's wrong. He has some attitude problems going on even with some of us so I am sure it was probably why he got fire but I am not sure on that one. Anyway, just trying to hold down some foul play.

I love this place. Food is great and the owner is so nice and just lovely! They also have free WiFi so its a nice place to drink some coffee or eat your lunch with your laptop. I ate there today and the food was delish!

Re: “Café Kronic

Great food and really, really good coffee. New beans in from the local roasters at Charleston Coffee Exchange make the coffee extra yummy! Check out the French Roast for a balanced dark coffee!!

Re: “Mosaic Cafe & Catering

I eat here several times a month and have always had an excellent meal. Whether it is Sunday brunch, a quick lunch, or dinner with the wife, the food and service is well above par. In fact, I just used my Deal Mobs certificate tonight for dinner. The Braised Short Ribs were fantastic.

Re: “Five Loaves Cafe

I eat at Five Loaves pretty regularly because on a student's budget you can't find a better place. They always have changing specials and I usually get at least one special each time I go. The only bad thing about the place is that it is regularly packed, i.e. people waiting outside in 100 degree weather for a table.. However, the true locals know to go at a slow time (around 3) and you will never wait.

Re: “Café Kronic

You should have known better. What do you expect from a place named Cafe Kronic?
I hope you're feeling better.

Re: “Café Kronic

I agree with KristinB! It's not worth your time or money. The food I got was horrible, and didn't even have half of the ingredients that it was supposed to. The employee behind the counter was completely rude, and the owner didn't bother to do anything about it. 0 Stars!

Re: “Laura Alberts Tasteful Options

I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch at Laura Alberts. Not too long ago, I met my girlfriends for a glass of wine. They have quite a selection, but what I enjoyed was the relaxed atmosphere and ambiance. I will be back for their Wednesday dinner! The menu looks fabulous.

Re: “Caviar & Bananas

I like C&B very much. I liked it the moment I stepped foot through the door. They offer prepared/packaged food and drinks I can't find elsewhere. Prices may be higher than your standard market or cafe but consider one thing. One being the "gourmet" aspect. One may pay higher prices for higher quality or rare ingredients. And, it's a price I'm willing to pay because I like it so much!

My personal favorite things is their house made hummus, orzo and lentil salad, and a mocha frappe with a dash of cinnamon! I've yet to try their brunch . . . maybe tomorrow.

To ddiey: The owners' number one priority is customer service. They want their staff polite, knowledgable, and genuine. I highly doubt anyone working there (least of all in their charcuterie section) would make a guest wait 30 minutes for anything! Period. I, however, can imagine "no cashier available" but I chalk that up to you most likely not being a frequenter of C&B . . . and not knowing how the layout works. When in doubt, pay at the espresso bar! I only hope you gave your feedback to a manager and didn't rely soley on the internet. Dearest ddiey, I hope you give C&B another shot. :)

My only complaint is no wine or beer on Sundays.

And to anyone reading this articale and/or the comments, when in doubt, pay at the espresso bar!

Re: “Caviar & Bananas

LOVE Caviar & Bananas!!! I have eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner there (sometimes all in one day)... Everything is made fresh in-house, staff is friendly & helpful, they have a great and reasonably priced wine selection, and the variety is great for a group of friends/family. It's such a convenient place and they also deliver (free downtown which is rare)! The prices reflect the quality, but if you don't care about that, just go to a chain place to eat. C&B is a must if you live in Charleston or just visiting.

Re: “Caviar & Bananas

Way too overpriced!!!
I can appreciate what they are trying to do... emulate a certain New York establishment but they have too much going on and not enough influence on the basics. A half hour to get a sandwich made, no cashier available and a premium price tag. Go down to Bull Street to get a better sandwich with no frills.

Re: “Ted's Butcherblock

Ted's rules. I've been going here for years and even when I was a student, and they knew it, they still treated me like a real person. They always make an effort to have affordable bottles of wine featured at their tastings. Their food is fresh and well prepared and Ted is cool. A friend and I were out at Poe's in the middle of the day once and so was he. He recognized us from coming into the shop and, even though he was sitting at the 'outside' bar and we were inside, he bought us some drinks (delicious Delirium Tremens, actually).

Re: “Ted's Butcherblock

Downtown.
Stopped in recently for a sandwich. Ordered the Italian w/ hot cappacola.
Usually when ordering a sandwich I expect to be disappointed, but not the case here.
Everything was tasty with a good amount of meat and cheese, the greens fresh...simply a very good sandwich. If they made hoagies/subs or if they remain consistent, I will upgrade to 5 stars. Thanks for the good service Ted. Keep it up.

Most definately recommended!!!

Re: “Ted's Butcherblock

Ted's is know for incredible sandwiches and prepared foods, but don't forget about their butcher counter offerings! There's nowhere else downtown - and very few places in Charleston - where you can get the quality beef, all-natural chicken, pork and more that Ted's offers. Plus they make their own pancetta, roast beef and sausage and smoke their own salmon & ribs on the Big Green Egg that sits out in front of the shop. A great locally owned establishment for foodies!

Re: “Just Fresh Bakery Cafe & Market

Great service and a great lunch for those that want to sit or need a quick meal to go. Feels good to have a nice sandwich, soup, or salad instead of a burger and fries. I really enjoy their salads that are always fresh. I usually cheat and get a cookie too.
