This place, judging from the reviews, should have been a "HOTEL" rather than a place claiming to serve "food". Also being a life long resident of Charleston(75yrs.),the geographical area is a place I would not go thru with half the "CPD" even tho there is or was a precinct station on Columbus St.
You must keep in mind that there is a "FIRE" everyday in the "HOLY CITY".
BULLY PULPIT, JOYKILLS, CRAZY BAG! ALL FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY!
All three incredibly awesome live acts. Give yourself a pat on the back for going here cheese and crackers!
Best dogs in Charleston, hands down.
WAY OVERPRICED: 2 dogs, chips/fries, soda costs $10. Menu is cluttered with illogical combinations, their chili is tepid gray wallpaper paste, they use nacho cheese instead of shredded cheese, no fresh tomatos or pickles.
Their "creative" flagship dogs are ever worse: beware "Sweet Potato Mustard", it is 1/4 yellow mustard and 3/4 Aunt Jemima's Syrup. Blue Cheese Slaw is probably good on its own but it doesn't work on the dog. The wieners they use are just average, not 1/4 pound and not as tasty as they should be.
Because it looks cool from the outside, puts style over substance, gets a lot of buzz, and is overpriced I am justified in calling it what it is: a TOURIST TRAP.
Seppy's Hotdogs is a wonderful addition to Mt. Pleasant! You must try the Seppy dog. Delicious!
welcome to my neighborhood eastbound curb lane veers South along Magnolia from Ashley River Road which also ends here becoming Andrews Boulevard, no "saints" anywhere in my world... plenty of parking, follow your nose to many great food joints, music, dance & great neighbors many shops & only a few religious fanatics
This place is off the chain. I have not tasted a hot dog this good since I left "The House of Franks" in New Jersey that closed some years ago.
Love this place, Crave it almost.
Cheese Fries = Awesome
Cheese Fries + Bacon = More Awesome!
Dogs are great too, they aren't the huge beefy ones, but that's okay, the toppings are what really shine at Jacks. The Jamaican Relish is quite addictive.
From a born and raised Chicagoan, Skoogie's is authentic. Outside of Chicago, it's hard to find a place that can replicate such culinary genius as a Chicago Style hot dog, but Skoookie's nailed it. I'm happy to have a piece of home in Mount Pleasant.
Honestly, I have to agree...I simply do not see the big deal about Jack's. Overcooked, very small hot dog....too large a bun....too big a price. There is nothing about Jack's that makes it worth the trip nor the cost.
Dogs; average at best. Since when is a stale bun and an undersized dog cool?? Fries; small, skinny bits, overcooked, not much flavor. Service; indifferent and inconsistent.
Nice concept, but no one is paying attention to the details.
I went to Jack's last year with my mom for the first time and we both liked it a lot. I have seen it advertised and talked about a lot over the years and then decided to visit. My mom loved the old antiques. It's definitely a new twist on hot dogs. But I don't like sweet potatoes so I didn't eat that. When you go, bring the kids and a camera!
Excellent hot dogs. I love the fries too. Such a wide selection of dogs. This is my favorite hot dog place by far.
if you think jacks is the best, you must not get away from mt pleasant very often. for the rest of us, we know perfectly franks in summerville, just off main street, has simply the best hot dogs.
love their frank sinatra dog.
and they have the best shrimp tacos. while you are there, try their sweet potato fries-deliciously different. it has become a regular monday stop for us.
I just don't get it. Hot dog was over cooked (inside coming out when you bite it having a outer portion left), just not good. Hot dog was a big full bite smaller then the bun, just not good. Fries were so hard I was afraid of breaking a tooth, just not good. I felt like I was at some kids lemonaide stand playing and not really knowing what they are doing, just not good!!!
I love the atomic dog, fries and an orange soda. The ice cream kicks ass too.
how to make the undesireable absolutely amazing don't know how but this place is great.
Tragically hip/pretentious hobo dive where people who bum cigarettes from you provide "life changing" advice.
FYI, they just opened another Johnny's at Sweetgrass Ace Hardware across from the Oakland Market in Mt. Pleasant. Parking is much easier and it's the same great food!!!
Great hot dogs and breakfast sandwiches. Parking nightmare
