I agree with the previous submitter, service is an issue. The ordering process is awkward and the menu doesn't offer many good values (omelette with toast $6-7?).
I was sorry to hear that someone had a bad experience at Mozzo because husband and I have been there 5 times and it is AMAZING!!!! This is just what Mt. Pleasant needed and it should lure people over the bridge from downtown. You have to try it yourself. So much to choose from and everything we've had had been delicious. I'm sure they will work out the kinks with ordering. Remember when Poe's first opened and it sometimes took an hour to get a hamburger? Mozzo has a big 'ole thumbs up from me!
I stopped in to get a sandwich recently. I stood at the counter ready to order for 10 minutes until someone finally asked me what I wanted. They need a more organized process for ordering. The person that made my sandwich was a young guy (maybe 17 or 18) and was not friendly at all. The sandwich was very bland because he forgot to add 2 ingredients. I ordered a tea but had to wait for someone to refill the container. They won't be there long if too many other people have this experience. Too many other good restaurants in Mount Pleasant.
Okay, I visited from Toronto, Canada and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. My family and I ordered brunch. It was very busy but the wait wasn't too bad. My sister ordered the pork chop special and it was rather dry and the sauce was nothing special, I had the eggs with grits, double smoked bacon and ordered a side of sausage. The double smoked bacon was good but only two slices, I expected maybe one more; the real disappointment was the sausage, tiny and horribly dry!! The real praise is for their desserts, my mother ordered the butter milk pie and I had the chocolate pudding. OMG, this could have been the best dessert I have ever tasted, the pudding was so rich and smooth!! I had a few bites of the buttermilk pie and I was impressed although I had nothing to compare it to. Next time I am in Charleston, I think I will just order dessert;)
A great addition to Folly Beach! Stoked that "The Plainfield Project" gonna b playin' at your place Fri Aug 28th!!!! It's gonna b a damn good time!
We've been to Rita's 7 or 8 times since they opened and have been fortunate to have had good food, great service and always a jam good time. Possibly, its because we sit out on the paitio, but I always notice management presence and we've never once had an issue with the food or the service. Washout Wednesdays are our favorite, but for us, any time is a great time at Rita's.
Love the location, decent menu, but very, very poor service. We had to ask another waitress twice where our waitress was. She even came out once, looked at us as we tried to nod her over, and walked right back in! we politely paid our bill and left. I think this place has great potential, but a word to the manager: Meet with your staff and emphasize customer service above all else. Without this key ingredient most restaurants eventually fail...
The food is very good. The Italian Husky guy in the back needs to smile more or get some meds! I agree with the comment above that the ordering system could use some revamping. The cashiers are efficient and very friendly. Mozzo is a great addition to Mt. Pleasant and I will return soon!
Loved it! Went for lunch and had the bistro burger (minus the steak sauce) and it was excellent! Couldn't eat the fries, which I NEVER leave behind, because I was stuffed. Had the bloody orange margarita and it was just okay. Will try another concoction next time. We were there around 1:00 and it filled up quickly but the service was quick and our waitress was really friendly and efficient. Will become a regular when visiting the area!
The best breakfast in Charleston-from a very picky eater!!!! Delicious shrimp and grits!!!
Nothing special - mediocre food, poor service and not worth the price. It's too bad really. Even gave it a second chance - bummer.
Went to Mozzo for lunch at 1:15 on Tuesday. It was packed still. There are so many options written on the chalk boards that its confusing what to order. I stuck with their version of the itallian sandwich. My wife got a turkey and brie sandwich. I got my sandwich back very quickly, however my wife's sandwich was missing. I had already paid for lunch, which was a very reasonable price and still no sighn of her sandwich. I finally asked and I guess they forgot to make it, so they rushed and made it for her. We got it to go, and when we got home to eat, her sandwich was missing the brie and the rasberry jam...so she got a turkey sandwich with cheese and lettuce instead. Big let down. They should change the way you make your order there. As a customer, I was very confused and the girl who took our order seemed confused as well. She did not write anythign down, which probably contributed to them forgetting my wife's order. The quality of the meats and cheese is very good. I will go back very soon and recomend it if you like a true northern style deli. I would have given it 4 stars if the service was a bit better and our order was correct. Sharpen up the service and you guys will do great.
We came into downtown Charleston to shop Berlins Red Letter B sale for men. During my husband's alterations, I decided saunter down Broad Street for a light lunch. I found Brent's which we had heard about on the radio. I had their taco salad special. It was a perfect midday lunch. Although Brent's only serves the taco salad on Wednesdays? What gives? They should have it everyday. I brought my husband back one of Brents cheeseburger wraps. Hope to get back downtown soon!
Just had the eggs, bacon, and buttermilk pancake breakfast at Brent's on Broad Street, outside. Wonderful patio dining. Brent's is tasty and economical, with no line around the corner like Hominy Grill (which is fantastic, just impossible to wait all day long for a table). We stop into Brent's for quick lunches during the work week -- great cheeseburger wraps -- but today was all about the breakfast. There were friendly locals reading the papers. Most were laughing at president Kennedy's (I mean, Obama's) new family venture, US health care. Had no idea Brent's was this lively early in the morning! Must be to cure all those Blind Tiger hangovers, afforded by Kennedy's other family venture, liquor.
brent's now open on saturday's from 9am-2pm so please come jion us
I found Brent's on Broad Street next to the Blind Tiger a number of years ago. We have been weekly patrons ever since. They make a great breakfast, and the cheeseburger wraps and taco salads are a locals mainstay. Ask for the "Frank Cain" wrap - it's roast beef, cream cheese, tomatoes and other veggies of choice in a wrap, then toasted on the grill. This light sandwich will make a grown lawyer cry. Our office mainly uses Brent's for box lunch catering - great stuff at a great value. Brent's is also a great local place for coffee and ESPN breaks during the day. The staff know customers and their usual orders on sight. Old school patrons are local professionals taking it easy and chatting about anything and everything south of the Mason Dixon line. Brent himself is usually behind the counter and serving up breakfast and lunch - if he's not out surfing. Brent's is also a great place to take a friend for a private meeting on the courtyard out back. And they are open on Saturday? (need to edit that City Paper!)
Johnny's is awesome!! Hot dogs are great and so is everything else they serve.
Best shrimp and grits in town. Whenever I have company visiting me, I always take them to Hominy for brunch. It is always well worth the wait and delicious.
Re: “Three Little Birds”
Small portions but pretty good food. Very good service and cute atmosphere.
