Re: “Hominy Grill

excellent food, consistent. the service has ranged from piss poor to excellent-sort of a crap shoot there. I bring friends and family to Hominy whenever they are in town because we know the food will be good BUT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, CLEAN THE DAMN PATIO AREA!!! There are more and more flies and funny smells eminating from there than the water treatment plant on JI!
two words: SOAP AND WATER. I know it's a tight space but there is tons of outdoor seating at rest. in town and I have never experienced so many flies and stickiness in general. Love the food, but mgmt should make more of an effort to keep the place clean

Re: “Hominy Grill

Tons of crab shell in the she-crab soup...I expect a little shell now and then in the average bowl of she-crab, but this was like eating a bowl of bones covered in a creamy liquid. I'm lucky I didn't break my teeth. Also, the waitress was crazy slow. I had to get up out of my chair like four times to get the check and then again to get my credit card back. Will not return.

Re: “Folly Beach Shrimp Company

I have been there a few times and I have to say it is awesome. I have eaten there and the food downstairs is awesome! Then I decided to go upstairs and the bartenders on the second floor were so nice. I was there for a week and I made sure to remember their names, Eddie, Eric, and Chris. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and let you play their own wii games for free. Definitely a place to go on folly!

Re: “Hominy Grill

My husband and I tried their Sunday brunch. There was a line first thing in the morning, however they were quick to seat everyone. I had the french toast and it was out of this world! The pecan butter was delicious! My husband had the big nasty biscuit and said it was really good. It was the highlight of our trip and will go back the next time we're in town.

Re: “Folly Beach Shrimp Company

I just had my wedding reception at Lazo's on the back patio. Everything was amazing. The set up, food, service.... They made me feel like a princess. There are not a lot of choices in Folly Beach to have a samll wedding reception besides BLU which is way too expensive. Lazo's was perfect. The price was just right. The atmosphere was intimate and relaxed yet not to formal. I highly recomment this place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Food and service is amazing. Please consider them for any of your larger group gatherings or just a meal out. This was the first time they did a reception and it was high class. THANKS LAZO'S!!

Re: “Hominy Grill

I had a shrimp etouffee. Nothing fancy but so well balanced a mix of flavors that I enjoyed the last bite more than the first - it grew on me with experience.

My wife comes from the Roussillion region of France, where chicken livers are eaten often. She declares the chicken livers at the Hominy Grill the best she ever had.

And let me second the comment on the lima beans. I never liked lima beans before.

The service was fair, the atmosphere unpretentious almost to a fault. The food is a bargain for the quality.

Re: “The Bagel Shop

Way too expensive. Need to justify the price with an acceptable amount of food.

Re: “The Bagel Shop

Great customer service. I usually go w/ a bacon egg and pepperjack sammich. If you add an extra egg its only $.75, so that's usually my go to move. Definitely the most pricey bagel shop downtown, but by far the best.

Re: “Great American Grill

Was looking for a new place to get a good breakfast and after searching around online, this place came up so I decided to give it a try and all I can say is WOW. I have found one of the biggest disappointments with most breakfast places is the fact that you have to chose one main dish or the other. I really enjoy variety so I would love to have eggs and pancakes or french toast etc. not just one or the other. Thankfully whoever made the menu at the Great American Grill is the same way as they offered a variety of mixed dishes that. The portion sizes are incredible too!!! I felt like I was on an episode of Man vs. Food when my meal came out. I ordered the country plate which came out on 3 separate plates: 1 for 2 large pancakes, 1 for a bowl of grits, scrambled eggs and bacon, and 1 for 2 biscuits covered in sausage gravy. I was full after eating half of it but it was all so good I could not stop and finished it all! I can not wait to go back and try their "pigs in a blanket" which is sausage links wrapped in pancakes!

Re: “Three Little Birds

I thank the City Paper for helping me find out about this place! Went there for breakfast this morning and it really hit the spot. It's in a very cute stand alone building and has a great atmosphere. Everything on the menu looked wonderful and included very fresh ingredients so it was hard to pick but we went with the eggs benedict over sweet potato biscuits that I read about here online and it was fantastic. We also got the Honey/Peanut Butter/Banana French toast which was a delite on the taste buds. It came with 2 large pieces of bread both were very thick and had a unique taste to them. I will certainly be back to try other breakfast and lunch items on the menu!

Re: “The Bagel Shop

The food is very good, but since they charge for tea refills, i don't go very often. It can get very pricey if you have a couple of refills of tea. You might as well go to lunch at Snob and get full service fine dining at the same price.

I thoroughly enjoyed my everything bagel with jalapeno cheddar cream cheese. It was heavenly.

Re: “The Bagel Shop

just okay.
I went this morning and got a cinnamon-raisin bagel with plain cream cheese and a small coffee. It was $5. The bagel was smaller than normal. The bagel wasn't very flavorful and there was enough cream cheese for 3 people on it. I had to wipe most of it off. The coffee was good, definitely comparable to other coffee shops around- although not anywhere near Modica's standards. (ok, so I'm still bummed that Modica closed). Overall, nothing wowed me, and I'm not sure if it's worth the money.

Re: “The Bagel Shop

The food is good, but TOO EXPENSIVE for what you get. $8 for a bacon, egg, & cheese bagel with coffee is absurd.
