I encourage you (if you like soul food) to stop by and try Silva Spoon. I think you will appreciate the food and hospitability. If for some reason you do not like the food don't badmouth the place, simple let the staff there know what you didn't like and why!!! No I DO NOT work for the restaurant...

Craves hosted my family reunion and my entire family was very pleased with the level of customer service and the flavorful food that Craves delivered. I called to book my family reunion late but I don't know how they did it but Craves worked me in without hesitation. The food was amazing and tasted like it was cooked with love. Can't say enough about the food or my experience. Give them a try the next time you are in town.

I have been frequenting this establishment since I was a student at the College of Charleston. They have a great lunch buffet with all the soul food staples and it a very affordable price. The people are extremely nice and courteous and the food is outstanding. It has a great atmosphere and they have many events with jazz and reggae which I love as well! Check it out>>

I have had nothing good things to say about my experience at Huger's. We work downtown and eat there all the time. It reminds me of Alice's, but with a more jazzy, and soulful flavor. The food is second to none. Except maybe Hannibal's on the Eastside.

I was recently at Huger's for a Young Professional Mixer and had a great time. It was some of the most engaging conversations I've had in years. Also, we sampled the food. It was out of this world!

Martha Lou's ice tea is the best. In 2008 my son, who is stationed in the AirForce was visiting Charleston, he is still talking about her tea.

We ate here for lunch today and it was really good. I got the pork chop, macaroni & cheese, and collard greens with sweet tea. All perfectly seasoned and exactly what I was hoping for. My friend got the fried whiting, red rice, collard greens, and sweet tea and was not disappointed. This is our ne "go to" soul food stop.

I went to Hugers to hear Spoken Word tonight, and once again the entire place is dark besides the sign. This is the second time I have parked in front of Hugers ready to enjoy entertainment, and found the place empty. What is up with this place? Why advertise when your not going to follow through? What kind of establishment does this? Acting as a Black owned business operating in DOWNTOWN Charleston means something. You have to cater to all walks of life in Charleston, and what does it say when you advertise and more than once the business is CLOSED? Think it only says something about you as a business man....think again.

Unfortunately Big Momma is no longer around and the youth in that culture today doesn't give a rats as_ about learning how to cook good food...or learning anything period.

We tried Silva Spoon for lunch based on the glowing review from the City Paper. However, we were sadly disappointed. First of all, what kind of respectable "soul food" place considers a terribly overcooked boneless chicken breast to be good food? We tried the breast and wing plate...the wing was edible although they use a cornmeal type batter which in my opinion should be reserved for fish only. The macaroni and cheese was actually quite tasty. The other sides we tried (collards and lima beans) were definitely nothing to write home about either. The sweet tea is too syrupy sweet and to add insult to injury they charge 50 cents for a refill. The ladies in the restaurant were very friendly but unfortunately we will not return.

Ate at Aunt Bea's once, four years ago. It was bland and tasteless just like Paulie, rvw4u and Clay experienced. Now I only go there for the little post office inside. Yes, there is a post office inside with a postal working inside of a restaurant.

Just a few yewrs ago it was a fantastic place to eat. The food had that good old country home cookin taste: bacon grease in the greens and beans, fantastic biscuits and cornbread. Then one day all of a sudden the food went bland and tasteless. They apparently fired their cook and it hasn't been the same since. The crouds have also thinned out; there used to be a long line waiting to get in, now just a small group inside... Why are business's so ignorant of their following ?

Highly disappointed. Not only was the food lacking in flavor, the "biscuits" smashed and hard, but the wait staff was completely rude. They are unwilling to make any substititions and asking will get you glared at. Would never recommend and will never go back.
