Re: “Paisano's Pizza Grill

This place is fantastic. They make everything from scratch. They even grow their own herbs. It is by far the best quality in Charleston. The staff is also great.

Re: “Carolina Crust Gourmet Pizza

I was SO excited about this place!!! I LOVE PIZZA!!! BUT... The pizza is mediocre ,at best... The wait staff is slow and not to far from riding the short-bus from the Coastal Center on a work release program. This, sadly, includes the owner! There is NOTHING prompt about anything here and if you do decide to go at lunch... order ahead... but... keep in mind... you'll still wait an hour! And you would think that with as long as it takes to get or order that they are making it fresh and hot for you... nope... They lost your order and it will be cold when it gets to your table!

Re: “D'Allesandro's Pizza

Have known the brothers for years. This place is one of the best in Charleston. Do yourself a favor and call up for a delivery or better still go visit the funky place. Besides the great food and great owners you will have a great time.

Re: “Mellow Mushroom

PHENOMENAL PIZZA!!!

Mellow Mushroom makes fanatic pizza, and the restaurant itself is pretty cool. The new rooftop patio is very cool and with the addition of restrooms upstairs you no longer have to walk down a set of stairs and past the kitchen to take a leak.

The staff is very friendly, and after six years of dining in I have never had an unpleasant experience at the Mellow Mushroom. Highly recommend

Re: “Park Pizza Co.

I own Park, and in response to Bemlar, I must point out that although it may look like styrofoam, our to-go boxes are produced using green technology and are made from corn and wheat. They are 100% biodegradable. Our pizza boxes and salad containers are made from recycled cardboard and are, themselves, recyclable. Please come see us if you have any other concerns or you'd like additional information.

Re: “Mellow Mushroom

I remember eating at Mellow Mushroom on my lunch break on a weekly basis in Atlanta. They were never so “upscale” so I really miss just calling in to pick up a calzone or a house salad. I miss the simplicity and the ease of getting good food. However, I guess if you put something downtown it has to have some type of “Down Town Charleston Charm”. The food is top notch, however.

Re: “Vespa Pizzeria

My family has really enjoyed the new addition to Daniel island. I will have to say my favorite is the white bean soup. The pizza is loaded with all fresh ingredients and a perfect, crispy crust. We sat up at the pizza bar and had a nice time watching all of the action in the kitchen.

Re: “Park Pizza Co.

The pizza is ok but I beg to differ about their "Eco-friendly business operation" claims given that my food arrived in styrofoam containers.

Re: “Paisano's Pizza Grill

The Colbert is the best pizza I've ever had! What a great mix of flavors, none of which over-shadow the others! Fast delivery, awesome crust and a great mix of sauces/ingredients to choose from. Best pizza place on JI!

Re: “Paisano's Pizza Grill

Hubby and i ate there for lunch the other day. They have great lunch specials- for 6 dollars you can get a drink and your choice of calzone/2 pieces of pizza, or wings.
We got the calzone- it was large, cooked to perfection, and tasted excellent.
This place is a great addition to JI!

Re: “Carolina Crust Gourmet Pizza

I work at the Naval Weapons Station and had the displeasure of eating here.It was 6 pm and the kitchen didn't seem ready to for the changeover from lunch. My appetizer was cold and seemed precooked. My date's pizza was lukewarm and mine was not even the pizza I ordered. It took over a 45 minutes to get my pizza right. It's a shame I work close by and it would be a nice place to frequent but I won't.

Re: “Vespa Pizzeria

I concur with RRIP; the decor is terrific both inside and out but the meal was very slow and is trailing EVO, Monza, and Brixx in terms of wood-fired pizza. They get points for the quality and freshness of their toppings, as well as the balance of flavors in the crust. However, they're still working out the difference between "crispy" and "burnt" crust. Realistically, if you want pizza on DI, Orlando's is still the way to go... both for the value and the quality.
