Re: “Cha Cha's Tequila Bar

finally a replacement for Buffalo South, the place has a great elevated bar, Happy Hour is superb.... we keep going back you should too, Tecate & salsa, what ever you order on the menu is nutrition with a buzz, what more can you ask from a sports bar ?

Re: “MEX 1

I've been four times now and I love the place. The food is fantastic and great beer selection. They have good service and nice atmosphere. I'm really impressed with the quality of the food. Between the people I've been with and myself we've tried a decent sampling of the full menu and I haven't been disappointed with anything.

Re: “Pollo Tropical

Good every time we go. We live in Mount Pleasant and don't get down Dorchester that much, but we sometimes make the special trip.

While we like several menu items, I have to say my favorite is the tongue sandwich. Yes I know! "Tongue?!?" That's the typical American response anytime I suggest this menu item. I'm a "normal" American redneck and I can't get enough of the tongue sandwich at this place! Seriously!

Be adventurous and step outside your comfort zone every now and then.

Re: “MEX 1

Mexican restaurants come in a variety of styles and flavors and this is a much needed addition to the Charleston food scene. This is Baja Mexican style which I have spent a fair amount of time sampling in the San Diego and Baja Peninsula of Mexico. Charleston finally has a fish taco done right with stand out guacamole and filling salads as well as lots of other options as well. I have not tried everything yet but what i have had is really very good and value priced. Great place to bring kids and did I mention that the beer selection is solid as well. This is the type of place my family and I will eat at often. Please open one in MT P area.

Re: “Zia Taqueria

Baja fish tacos, $2.50 on a Monday night. Friendly and attentive service. It's like a fast food place where you order and pay at the counter, except the food is so *so* much better! If you don't like fresh ingredients (like cilantro) go to Taco Bell.

Re: “Zia Taqueria

The food is freaking amazing. This place destroys, it absolutely blows away in everyway Tacoboy. The margarita mix at Zias is made from scratch with real citrus fruit. Also unlike Tacoboy, they have pitchers. The tacos are way bigger and taste a 1000 times better. This is my go to place for Sunday frozen screwdrivers. Try the tacos with the El Yucateco hot sauce at the silverware station. Deathly hot hot sauce.

Re: “Pollo Tropical

Just order a 1/4 chicken plate and you will be happy... especially if you add an order of plantains. So delicious, so filling. Sure, the restaurant decor is nothing to write home about, but nothing in that area of N. Charleston is all that nice. The people that run Pollo Tropical are super friendly with good service though. If you want good food, check this place out!

Re: “Juanita Greenberg's Nacho Royale

Juanita Greenbergs is a jewel on King St. Its got a sign out front that invites a dog friendly atmosphere. The staff enures that the restaurant is kept spotless and sanitary, and food is delivered promptly to your table in virtually no time. Its a place where you can let your kids run around out back and play hide and seek, while you enjoy your favorite margarita in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. The patio area smells of Carolina Jasmine, as it is growing on the walls around the outdoor seating. I would recommend that anyone and everyone come enjoy this place. Also every Wednesday night one of the best female vocalists in town performs free to anyone who will listen, So come out and see Jordan Igoe and Friends. It will change your life. If you dont like the atmosphere clearly stated on the chalkboard out front, then go to McDonald's...lookin at you, Beth.

Re: “La Norteña

Best Mexican food in Charleston ! Good service, amazing food and smooth music on Friday nights. You can tell the management really has a handle on things. Nice lighting and relatively quiet even at full capacity. I grew up in Charleston and this is by far this freshest and zestiest set up I've ever had. Their salsa and guac are great, decent beer selection. Don't be to proud for Rivers Ave., you won't be disappointed !

Re: “El Dorado

I cannot believe El Dorado has only one review.
I love El Dorado for may reasons...but the food is first.
Family run. Great service. Consistent food. Generous proportions. Moderate pricing.
I have been ordering the same few items for 15 yrs. Always good...never had a 'bad' meal or lousy service. EVER. I grew up eating Mexican, both in California & Arizona before moving here. It is like coming home.
Pretty standard fare...Americanized Mexican...nothing fancy. Try the Pollo Jalisco. Crumbled chorizo over a chicken breast and covered in molten Mexican cheeses.
Now my 11 year old son is hooked on their chicken tacos with crunchy shells.
Give it a try.

Re: “Raul's Taqueria & Mexican Grill

Had the carne en su jugo and a wet burrito. Loved them. Service was enthusiastic and attentive. Got the check and had to pick my jaw up off the table. 2 entrees, a soda, margarita, and a kids meal for 25 bucks (tax included). The food was super, fresh and flavored so well. The price point is what takes this place from 4 to 5 stars on my scale. I will be back.

Re: “Raul's Taqueria & Mexican Grill

The mole is one of the best I have ever had. Raul said it is a 90 year old recipe that has been refined by generations of his family. The carne in su jugo is deliciously soul-satisfying. I also appreciated that the salsa had some heat and wasn't bland. The shrimp ceviche is similar to a Jalisco-style shrimp cocktail and not a traditional Caribbean ceviche. I have been to Guadalajara and really like this, but some people might be put off that it's not like what you would get in, say, Puerto Rico.

There was one table for two when we arrived, and another single person came in while were eating. The kitchen was incredibly slow considering they didn't have much to do, but the food was delicious.

Re: “Raul's Taqueria & Mexican Grill

Went there for lunch today and this place really was outstanding. Neat atmosphere on the inside with beautiful, interesting paintings. The service went beyond my expectations. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The food was so much better than what you find at most of the Mexican restaurants in this area. It tasted fresh and homemade. This location is super close to 526, so from where I live in West Ashley its considerably closer than going downtown. I was really impressed. I honestly do think that this is the best Mexican in Charleston and won't be going anywhere else.

Re: “Juanita Greenberg's

So glad we finally have a Juanita's in Mt. P. Have always loved the downtown restaurant. Went for Happy Hour and Dinner last week and it was awesome! Great food, so inexpensive and a super cool atmosphere.
