Re: “Mercato

First off the atmosphere is perfect for a date. The wine choice is excellent as well. The last time we went there though I had the lasagna and the bottom was burnt... The other times that we have been there though the food has been really good. I like that they have live jazz music as well.

Re: “Al di La

We went yesterday for the Halloween party and had a great time. The food and service were outstanding. The patio was very nice yesterday as well. Highly recommended.

Re: “Sette

I took my sweetie here for our wedding anniversary on Tuesday. We were very pleased. I had the veal special with pasta; she had the chicken piccatta. Her only complaint was that it was a tad heavy on the capers. We will definitely return.

Re: “Capriccio Restaurant

Wow, its unfortunate that dsharlee had such a bad experience at Capriccio's- it's one of my favorite spots. My husband and I typically get the Caesar Salad and the Eggplant Parmesan entree and split it- with the plentiful bread and olive oil we don't go hungry. He gets a beer (which comes in a small bucket of ice) and I get a glass of wine. One of the things that we love about it is that the wait staff is encouraged not to turn the tables quickly- so, if you want your check, ask for it. We love not feeling rushed. The casual atmosphere and seeing the owner at every visit makes this a very special place.

Re: “Capriccio Restaurant

Not much to say about this restaurant, except maybe that the server tried very hard to improve our visit. It was HOT, and a table lamp put out such heat that the temperature increased by at least 10 degrees. The food was mediocre. What they call ciopinno is just pasta with bland tomato sauce, with a few pieces of seafood thrown in. No broth at all. We won't be going back.

Re: “Il Cortile Del Re

Have been several times over this past summer and always leave in a joyous mood. The wine list is fantastic as is the wait staff's knowledge of the wines, the alluring Italian ambiance is always apparent whether inside or in the courtyard, and the food is terrific, adding up to a lovely experience that myself and numerous friends of mine thoroughly enjoy. Also, the Mushroom ravioli is out of this world.

Re: “Bella Napoli

Bella Napoli is a classic, family owned Italian-American restaurant. For me it feels like home.

As an Italian-American myself, I love going to Bella Napoli, not just for the food, but for the experience I get interacting with the staff and other patrons. It feels like home. Chef Gary treats everyone like they are his kin. The wait staff is just a friendly, warm and welcoming, especially our favorite waiter, Chuck. Ask for him next time you are in and you will not be disappointed.

But lets talk about the food. It is absolute heaven. Everything is fresh made everyday from scratch, even down to the ladyfingers they use in the Tiramisu. Chef Gary invited my boyfriend and me back to the kitchen our first visit to take a look at the operation. I have seen living proof of the love and hard work that goes into this restaurant and I am impressed and thankful that this place is in my own neighborhood.

Their specials never disappoint, my favorite so far being a seafood manicotti. They also make amazing Chicken Marsala. Whatever brand of Marsala they are using in this dish is perfecto!

Ignore any negative comments about this place. They are not true!

Re: “Bella Napoli

it's been awhile since i reviewed this place but was so impressed with today's lunch that i figured i would give them another great review. I went alone today and had a very nice experience. ordered the prosciutto sandwich with mozzarella, basil and tomato. The prosciutto was sliced nice and thin and melted in your mouth, the mozzarella was so soft and fresh, and the tomatoes delicious. the sub roll was slightly toasted and warm, giving the bread a slight crunch. All drizzled with EVOO. Just a great lunch. Thanks again!

Re: “Mondo's

Tucked away in a shopping center near Sonic on Folly Road one would not expect to find such and elegant restaurant. Although the restaurant is very small and the decor leaves something to be desired the lighting and white table cloths create a wonderful atmosphere. Guests are always dressed nicely and the staff is knowledgeable and has a lot of pride in the restaurant. I have always been over- the- top impressed with the quality and creativity of their beautifully prepared dishes. Try the artichoke hearts wrapped in prosciutto (stuffed with goat cheese). Delicious! The outdoor patio is wonderful too.

Re: “Mondo's

I had the eggplant parm for lunch, and it was absolutely delicious! Came with a very nice salad with the house vinegarette. I was stuffed, and the price was a mere $9.00. Mondo's is a hidden gem on James Island on the corner of Folly and Camp Roads.

Re: “Fulton Five

Fulton five used to be my favorite spot in charleston, but it has gone sharply downhill. Chef Brett Maynard was the heart of their success. The food is mediocre at best these days

Re: “Joe Pasta

I've never gotten food there, but it seems the only reason to go to Joe Pasta is $2 well drinks 24/7.

Re: “Bella Napoli

Had a delightful lunch at Bella Napoli today. This is a very nice establishment to enjoy a good meal. The atmosphere was friendly, clean and there was no smell of stale smoke. I enjoyed the Salsiccia Pasta. Our waiter was very attentative without being a nuisance. I will return for another meal.

Re: “Bella Napoli

Just returned from having lunch at Bella Napoli. Very nice establishment. Friendly, clean atmosphere, and no stale smole in the air. Our waiter was very attentative and a pleasure. I enjoyed the Salsiccia Pasta followed with an Expresso. My serving was so large that I needed a carryout.

Re: “Bella Napoli

After reading Skrymik's comments about Bella Napoli, I am convinced he must of been at Fazoli's and didn't realize it! I can personally say that everything he wrote was a bold face lie!

The folks at Bella Napoli prepared two lasagnas for an office luchenon. Both lasagnas were fresh, hot and YUMMY! including the fresh home made bread. I have never had cold, frozen, old or plasticy tasting food from Bella Napoli.
And if the food and service was so bad, why not 'complain' while in the restaurant? If there was a problem, the owners would have made it right. I have yet to meet anyone that has eaten at Bella Napoli say anything bad about the food or the service.

Skrymik also complained about a LONG wait. Impossible! Every time I've gone there they had more than enough servers to get things done fast and efficiently. My boyfriend and I went to Bella Napoli for dinner one night and didn't have much time. We told the server that we had about 45 mins to eat dinner before we had to leave for an appointment. We order Veal Marsala and Spaghetti Carbonara. Both meals were out on the table in less than 20 minutes (fresh, hot and yummy). I also go to Bella Napoli for lunch several times a week and I am never late getting back to work. Skrymik doesn't know what real Italian food is, so I suggest he keep eating at Fazolis and quit making false accusations.

SKRYMIK...why not man up and go back to the restaurant and talk to the owners face to face instead of slandering their business?

Re: “Bella Napoli

Need to say my spelling has nothing to do with the food. I was so excited I never proof read it.
Gary is the owner. Great cook in his own right.
Thanks again for a teriffic night.

Re: “Bella Napoli

If you like Italian food you will love this place!!!!!!!!
I do not know what axe the first reviewer has to grind but I DO know his review is 100% WRONG!!!
I was at Bella Napoli on Saturday night, Jun 12, 2010 and the service atmosphere and food were wonderful. From the delightful waiter to the food I could have asked for no better. My son and daughter-in-law were with me. He had the Veal Marsala, she the Shrimp Scampi. I indulged in the Friutti di Mare. The meals were served in a very timely manor, the Calimai appetizer was crisp and not chewy. The waiter's knowledge of the menu and wines was marvelous.
I was actually given a tour of the kitchen, by the owner, and met the other chef and his wonderful wife, the owner Garty is a dynamic chef too. Two delightfully happy people and very skilled cooks. Seeing the preparation that went into the meals was enlightening. I can assure you there is not a frozen mean in the place.
For a great meal and atmosphere go to Balla Napoli
