I missed this shop so much when it was under a different name. Call me slow, but I just found out that Richard had reopened a sandwich shop again. (My grapevine is a little slow) It was great news to me. My lunch spot changed as soon as I heard Richard and Gloria were back making sandwiches. There are very few good sandwich shops in the area. This place more than fills the void! The Turkey Rasberry Chipolte or the Chicken buffalo wrap are my favorites.
It is great to have a small business that takes pride in their work. Food chains get boring. Richard's Coffee and More brings back a little spice to the Park Circle area. Be prepared for a local business supporting the local community with a smile and great food. Cheers Richard....Glad to have you and Gloria back! I will make sure to come through the doors more often!
Richard's is a great LOCAL neighborhood coffee shop. The owner and the clientele are passionate about the neighborhood. The menu is simple, affordable and yummy. And you haven't lived until you've had one of Ms. Gloria's homemade waffles...
Richard's Coffee is also a great wireless hotspot! I am working on my Master's degree online and the family atmosphere makes it a great place to hang out and study. I also love the artwork on display...its a rotating collection of some of the artists in the community and its good to see a local business supporting the arts. Oh, and by the way...they have Great Food too!!! Richard's coffee gives generous portions, and the menu features a variety of healthy wraps and sandwiches...plus Gloria is always cooking up something special on Saturday mornings to excite & delight the palette.
Contrary to SoundlyAwake, I thoroughly enjoyed my first (yes, first) iced coffee from a very nice young lady who stated I'd get hooked on them if I tried one. It was very flavorful, nicely portioned, very refreshing, and I rather liked the atmosphere. Any place that tries to help our local artists gets points from me. I had a great sandwich, which I could not finish (took the remainder home withe me), and enjoyed watching the world go by in N. Chas. Fortunately the High School was out for the year, so there was minimal kid traffic. I will definitely go back when I visit the other bars in this ever improving part of N. Charleston. Oh, and Soundly, they have real great overheated Joe at Sunoco's.
As the owner I was somewhat taken a back by "SoundlyAwake72"'s comment. The "Mix Matched Art" is from lo cal artists that we are trying to show case. The "opened bread" is baked fresh daily by Southeastern Bakery and used to make sandwich that use, the best quality meat that we could find, Thumann's. We sell a lot of Iced Coffee -- using Charleston Coffee Roasters beans -- and everyone, except this person, raves about it. If "SoundlyAwake72" would return, I would gladly refund his money and provide directions to the nearest convenience store where he may find coffee more to his liking.

I love the chicken salad wrap and the potato salad- yum! Nevermind the awesome coffee and homemade waffles!!! I love this place. Awesome to grab on the go or to sit and eat inside or on the outdoor patio. A welcome addition to Park Circle! And the staff are warm and make you feel at home.
Great coffee shop/cafe in Summerville. We had the chicken salad croissant for lunch. Excellent food and atmosphere.
A friend recomended this place to us when we moved over to JI. We go every weekend. Yummy coffee!
Just fyi about common sense: don't walk in there before they are officially even opened and bitch about them needing to hurry up or you're gonna be late. Makes you look like an ultra douchebag!
This is an awesome place!!! Every time I've gone there, the food and coffee were great! I recently took my boyfriend there, and he said the quality of the food was exceptional. The staff is very friendly, too! You definitely have to stop by if you are on James Island! Looove the pancakes!!!
I love this place!! Aside from being able to support a local business, owned and operated by a local business person, I have always found the coffee and food at Cafe Kronic to be fresh and prepared to order. What a nice change it is to not be enslaved by the food chains that adorn Folly Rd. And talk about locals supporting locals, they even have brunch on Sundays featuring local musicians. Keep up the great service, Kronic!!!
Great food and really, really good coffee. New beans in from the local roasters at Charleston Coffee Exchange make the coffee extra yummy! Check out the French Roast for a balanced dark coffee!!
Both Muddy Waters provide some of the best coffee and just plain good fellowship than those other places. Prices are right and the west ashley one offers great sandwiches. Visit one today!
Made a visit with my wife before Christmas. An amazing cup of coffee. Worth the off-the-beaten-path trip for one of the best cups of joe downtown. Was a pleasure to meet John and talk while he prepared our coffees. If you appreciate coffee, put it on your list to stop by.
Great treat to have good coffee in a garden and read, meet friends, get some early spring sun and listen to the birds sing. That's not all; there's a sitting room in the back you could be lucky enough to inhabit with some friends. What a find!
(A heads up: It does become a bit crowded as a place for C of C students to study during finals, though.)
HIDDEN JEM! Tucked away right off King, we never would have found this place if it wasn't for someone at the farmers market raving about Kudu. Without a doubt, one of the top coffee shops in the south east!
Re: “How Art Thou? Cafe”
Cade Style was awesome! Blues, jazz, Motown, our feet were tappin' to the music while we joined in singing to old familiar songs. Great performance.
