Re: “Poe's Tavern

If you want a burger that looks, and quite frankly, TASTES like a hockey puck, you would thoroughly enjoy Poe's. I recently moved to Charleston and being a cheeseburger lover, I went to Poe's after hearing everyone rant and rave. I usually give every place 2 or 3 chances, but I really wanted to like Poe's, so I gave it FIVE. I was disappointed 5/5 times. Each time I was served a blacked piece of meat with tons of condiments to disguise the fact that the meat was in fact charred. Seems to me, if you want a good burger in this town, you're better off making it at home!

Re: “The Brick

This is a terrible bar made more terrible by the unbelievably rude staff-- I totally agree with the previous post about them being "unkind". Being a bartender in Charleston myself, and having given Brick SEVERAL chances to redeem their terrible behavior, I can say for sure I will never be back, and you should stay away!! The bartenders were downright nasty to us on a slow Thursday night, to the point where my crew left with full beers on the bar. It really is too bad that a lousy staff can bring a bar down.

Re: “The Brick

If it were possible to give this bar negative stars, I would. Brick sucks. The bartenders are so unkind, I could hardly believe it. Literally two minutes after last call they start yelling - no, screaming for everyone in the bar to get out. They obviously do not care about providing a good service to their patrons, nor do they keep their bathrooms open past last call. I was very tempted to leave a warm yellow present for the bartender in my empty cup. Brick is the worst bar I have visited in Charleston, and I feel like a fool for going there even twice. Do not waste your money there. There are much, MUCH better options downtown!
