Great Place… With one exception
I really enjoyed the Griffon. Food was good and the beer selection was great. However, one bartender almost ruined it. It’s a small guy with black hair kind of spiked. Lee or Lloyd (I think). Wore a flower on his shirt and was very rude! Anyway, the place is great, but avoid this guy if possible…
Can i join you at Moes??? dang bro" that's all you had to say!!!
I agree tenfold that Phinz fan is 100% on the money... I know that in the service industry working at a bar pub you probably deal with a lot of attitudes, but you could not have said it better!
If I could give Gene's negative stars I would.
A shame, because Gene's has a great beer selection and board games at every table is a neat concept. However, the entire staff is nothing but arrogant pretentious hipster losers that act like they are doing you a favor by giving you crappy service. I've had one or more of them be extremely rude to me and my friends almost every visit. I've had friendlier service at Dick's Last Resort. Not kidding.
The food is also very uninteresting. Honestly, there is really no reason to go there except for the large beer selection. If Gene's fired all of their employees and started over then I might consider giving it another shot. Until then I will be at Roost!
The Blind Tiger staff has made the impression that whatever tip I may give them will never be enough for them to put down the smartphone and do their job. At a $1 a drink, I'll tip someone else somewhere else.
Have a drink, enjoy the courtyard, skip the food.
Highs: genuinely friendly staff, yummy burgers/sandwiches, jam-if-you want live music setup.
Lows: EXPENSIVE ($28 for sandwiches and tea for two), and it is a strange mix of "new" and "dive"
I liked this place; it is completely un-pretentious, the food was solid, and they have a nice outdoor setting. Draught selection looked good. They even have karaoke. But seriously too expensive in general.
I've eaten there and it's honestly good and the best evening is when any night "Baby Fat" is rocking the joint. They are excellent musicians.
As a matter of fact schwanz I am pleased to say that all your concerns were addressed. In fact the entire kitchen staff was gutted. There is now a fabulous staff, along with an amazing revamped menu! I hope that you can make it back in time soon... it will definitely be worth your time! I promise!!!!!!! Also, we have a delicious brunch menu... it is a must have! Brunch is served Sunday for 11am-3pm and then the regular menu from 3pm-until.
In addition we have great weekly specials....
Monday: 1/2 Price Burger Day (All day)
Wednesday: 1/2 Price Wings (All day)
Thursday: 1/2 Price Nachos (All day)
I agree with Gatermama....service is VERY poor....AWFUL service!
After waiting 1 1/2 hours and no food, we finally decided it was time to let some one know, since our waitress was outside taking a smoke break!! We happily took our party and what WOULD have easily been $75.00 to $100.00 spent there for our bill next door and was happily served and out the door in 30 minutes!! Good luck in Knightsville Blind Referee!
I must agree, great staff and food!!!
I can’t complain about their service, their staff is pleasant and helpful. It has a friendly atmosphere so I feel comfortable going there by myself =))
The food is so great here! However, that's where it stops! Service is very poor. The management, if there is any, is very poor and it shows.
Best indie venue in town... best part... never a cover!
Great Staff and Good Food
Trivia night on Tuesdays is Terrific!!!
I enjoyed our time at the Village Tavern. Wonderful band and singer, good music, good "bar" food and clean atmosphere. Packed house, but friendly house...dancing, fun and will visit more often!
REALLY???? IBG's music is ancient and their system sucks! You have got to be kidding
The bf and I wanted to go "somewhere different" last night and he picked Poe's. We walked in and were greeted warmly with smiling faces and a crackling fire. The beer selection was impressive and the menu was not overwhelming. I had to have the nachos smothered with chili. These nachos were warm, crisp, loaded with chili and cheese and then topped with guacamole and sour cream, there was a hint of chipotle throughout the mountain of snackdom. The bf got a burger with roasted garlic blue cheese. He ordered it Medium Rare (my favorite). I was skeptical because when I want a burger, I go straight to Sesame. This practice will be altered. The burger was cooked perfectly and tasted the way meat should. It was seasoned with a hint of salt and black pepper and the roasted garlic blue cheese was melted on top. There is nothing more satisfying than blue cheese mixed with burger juices. The roll was fresh, the outside chewy and the inside airy. Simply put, the food was TASTY. Our server was attentive, had a great personality and reflected the warm, inviting atmosphere of the tavern. Poe's was "something different" and I hope to have another great experience there soon.
Great place to relax for locals and guests. Fantastic food for lunch or diner. Karaoke most any night with thousands of songs available. Best prices in the downtown ares.
